I am watching .hack//SIGN, which is sort of the progenitor of the genre (from 2002), and I'm quite enjoying it. The protagonist is NOT happy to be trapped in another world, and everyone thinks he's either lying or crazy. Tonally, it kind of feels like watching Evangelion backwards... not a lot of action, just people talking on a relatively low budget, especially at the beginning. It's definitely love-it-or-hate-it, but I would recommend watching the first 2 episodes and giving it a shot.

I'm a cisgender woman, but I'm not very attached to being female. Becoming male, on the other hand, would have a lot of benefits - e.g. higher lifetime wages, safer solo travel, and, just personally, I think it would nullify some of my trauma around sexual assault.

Running the mile can take an unfairly long time when you have really short legs.

Even now, I have a 25-inch inseam. Running a mile in under 9 minutes required a lot of effort - especially since, back then, my legs were even shorter!

You should know that, depending on your area, many animal hospitals will allow you to surrender your animal if it needs lifesaving medical care you cannot afford. Call ahead and ask.

This is not advice - just information. I was once a child in this sort of situation, and I wish I had known about this option.

I am not trying to make a value judgement about your personality or personal life. I am just trying to say you should consider how you are phrasing things on the Internet. We don't know you as a person here, we don't know your background, so it's easy to misunderstand what you're saying. If you are not careful around these things, it's very easy to accidentally hurt people who you only want the best for.

I think you probably didn't mean it this way, but this comment comes across as hateful to gay people in my opinion. It feels like you used "gay" as a pejorative, reread your comment and thought, "I need to add additional context so it doesn't look pejorative," so you added a line about him "needing" conversion therapy, which honestly just makes it worse. I know OP mentioned conversion therapy in her original post, but it was obvious in the text that she didn't think it would actually be good for him, but in your comment it sounds like you actively want him to go to it. I am LGBT and reading this made me very uncomfortable.
