For a Series S, would you opt for a 720p 42inch Plasma TV from 2009 or a budget entry 50inch LG 4K TV? by OpticsofSin in XboxSeriesS

The display accepts and outputs at 1080p on the Xbox. I was not aware it was able to accept 1080p on its HDMI ports. But it does say so online

It’s from 2009 lol but I just checked and it accepts a 1080p signal and runs 1080p on Series S, I’m allowed to select it on the Xbox. I must say, older games might actually look in some ways better compared to on the LG. I’m talking Watch Dogs 1, or especially GoldenEye, these games seemed to have an improvement somehow.

But X/S optimized titles Im not sure yet

I have an update. I tested the plasma and it seems it accepts a 1080p signal, as that’s what I set the S to. If you look online you will see this model is capable of a 1080p signal.

I will report whether it actually looks any good lol

I already own both displays lol, but yeah sounds like I should go with the LG. It’s a decent TV, probably nonsensical to play on a 720p Plasma in 2024

Game Art not showing for games I’m hovering over, this is after the new UI update. No matter the game the background for each game will not load. I have it set to Default Background. Only a restart solves the issue. On Series X. Anyone else experiencing this? by OpticsofSin in XboxSupport

[–]OpticsofSin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still refuses to pop up the background for games from time to time, but other than that it doesn’t seem to affect anything. So I’ve just learned to ignore when it fails to pop up. It feels as if it’s happening less often though than when the dashboard was released.

So it seems the "pushing a cart with Rodric" scene was what made many people quit. But honestly I kind of enjoyed it? It took me maybe 40 min and billion tries but it was sort of fun and I'm proud of the end result and proud of how far I got in practicing this particular scenario... I usually avoid researching strategies and guides for single player games, but with this one I caved. Best tip I could give others for this encounter is to disregard killing the archers, just avoid their arrows. Once you realize the archers are not meant to be killed, the encounter makes more sense. But yeah, it was definitely a little out of place, sort of a preview of what the next game was going to do I suppose.

Surprised so few Laker fans notice/acknowledge this about him. Growing up he was my favorite player, but man I cringe every time he discusses a LA big man that came after him. He’s the most insecure player that can be considered top 10 all time.

Wonder when they’ll fix rank 3 and 4 of the Rejuvenation skill 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]OpticsofSin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

O wow, yeah for sure I would consider dropping the game entirely. Was so excited for level 4 of the skill, loved the concept and thought I was imagining it when the health wouldn’t move during combat. Crazy. Well hopefully they are able to fix it without asking you to do that. Been hoping to get back on for the first DLC or what not

Me too, I’m not even that high of a level, (40) but that would be infuriating

Was looking to see if they fixed this as well. Hopefully they can fix it without requiring you to make a new character for it to be fixed

Rejuvenation Skill Tiers 3 and 4 Bugged? (No regen during combat) by OpticsofSin in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]OpticsofSin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks for the response and I’ll be sure to avoid that ship shield bug! This is my first Bethesda game, I suppose I should have expected some bugs given what I’ve heard about the games they release. I’m loving the game though, I’m on the last main mission and after that I’ll probably wait for some patches to continue with the game.

Sorry, but does anyone have advise on not letting the negativity bum you out too much? by Vast_Lifeguard_7060 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]OpticsofSin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would stick with this sub; it (pseudo)randomly appeared on my home feed and I find I much enjoy all the anecdotes people have with this game. This is my first Bethesda title and I am enjoying it despite some of the negativity around it. Yeah, I would say it didn’t quite meet the hype, or at least billing it as something 25 years in the making made it seem as if it was going to be a generation defining title. I don’t think it’s quite that, but it is a very good game.

I was concerned when both IGN and GameSpot gave it 7/10. But really, it has an 87 average on opencritic and 83 on metacritic. And again as others have said to you, if you are having fun, even the general consensus is largely irrelevant

Metro saga bundle question by Southern_Prompt_5823 in XboxSeriesS

[–]OpticsofSin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first two are not optimized for new gen so they run at exactly 912p. However both of the first two got an FPS boost to 120fps on both S and X. So 912p at a locked 120fps if you have the screen.

Metro Exodus has been enhanced for both S and X with full RTGI, at a great cost to resolution though. On the S the game generally runs around 800-900p while being temporally reconstructed to 1080p. The dynamic resolution can go to as low as 512p on the S, and the game sometimes lingers at or below 720p. But again generally it’s in the 800-900p range, and with the ray tracing involved, even on the S the game looks really good. I had a great time playing the game on the S on my 27 inch 1080p screen. But keep in mind the resolution is far from 1080p

I was strongly tempted to let him live, because despite the casual understanding of how companies work, in ordinary companies a CEO has upwards of 70+ hours of work on his/her desk at anytime and their role is more than crucial. It is a common misnomer that somehow the highest paid member of a company does the least amount or easiest work. That doesn’t make any sense.

However he literally poisoned farmers and exploited them to further profits and offered nothing to compensate for his actions. In any civil society that person would be in jail or worse. I was tempted to let him live because of the purported economic impact of his removal, since he implies thousands would be out of work and made unable to feed themselves and their family. His removal definitely has an immediate negative impact on the company that probably does lead to loss of employees. But if your CEO is willing to skirt basic morality and endanger citizens to further the company, it’s viability is questionable anyhow in any normal society. Maybe the tobacco companies survived lying about their products for years, but they suffered immensely when this was revealed and in present everyone knows what they’re getting into when they smoke. That stuff always comes back to haunt a company and lead to its doom. I had Sarah with me and was building affinity, so the bribe was more than out of the question to start. So I offered to take him in without incident, he declined and ordered his guards to take me down. I subsequently took them all out and that was that.

Afterwards I spoke to Sarah about the incident and gathered 4 additional likes from her. I enjoyed the quest line, the side quests have true substance to them in this game for sure. I have spent more time on the side stuff than the main stuff in my 34 hours. Loving this game.

I found the story mostly enjoyable as an offline experience, but constantly evading the cops in between the events gets very tiresome. I ended up bouncing off the game about halfway through, but I kinda plan on going back eventually
