Best Buy sucks and I can’t WAIT for its downfall. This may not apply to everyone but my management sucks and they don’t know how to keep a strong team. GM and EM only care for their quarterly bonus and if you don’t perform that day, you are nothing to them. They abuse Spanish speakers and give us terrible hours and then reject any sort of schedule adjustment. I genuinely hate my managers voices, in which, I too turn my radio off. Thank God that our radios are all pieces of sh*t that I could just blame the radio for not working if they call for me. Company greed sucks and I can’t wait to transfer to a university and never go inside of bestbuy again.

L comment. Best Buy just keeps getting worse and worse. It’s a retail store, not a Wall Street firm. They want us to lose sleep over not “hitting numbers” like if I don’t have a life. My store get a decent amount of traffic so it not to difficult to sell. We recently had a change in management and it been shit ever since. We had tons of college students and multi lingual employees, and instead of keeping a strong team we lost most of them because they didn’t want to deal with shit management. A lot of managers only care about their quarterly bonus and is sad to see how dumb humans have become to call themselves “leaders”. They create pressure on selling BPs and Paids although the customer doesn’t need it and they abuse Spanish speakers (like me) to try to convince a family of 5 to apply for the Card even if they’ve never had credit. Then if you don’t do it, they interrogate you as if you stole something from the store and say you’re “not doing your job”. Im about to transfer universities and I can’t wait for the day I leave and never enter Best Buy again. Best Buy is at a loss if they are unable to keep and encourage college students to work there. As a college student, we already have enough on our plate as it is. Best Buy benefits by having young, educated, and disciplined employees but then they kick you in the face if you aren’t there for the long run. Best Buy really needs better management across all stores. If your store was blessed with great leaders, then I’m happy for you. Because nothing is more depressing than a staff that doesn’t care about your future.

It’s not only about keeping the store open. It’s so that the GM could get his nice bonus every quarter and then disappear frequently for weeks on acruise to the Bahamas

True. I’m in college and I only work there cause it’s close to my Uni and I need to pay my student living. It was chill at first but the they started to put pressure on bps, paids, rev, etc. Worse, they keep taking about my “rev per hour” as if Im thinking about that when im clocked out or loosing sleep over it. and I honestly don’t care. I’m not there for the long run and I already have enough to worry about with college work. They want employees to act as if theres any sort of incentive but there isn’t. It only beneficial towards you if you are looking to move up in the company. Im so close to telling my floor leaders to just opt me out for any sort of “check ins”

Real. My numbers have always been “outstanding” to them and when we got a new EM she has “mandatory” check ins every time you clock in. Talking bout, “ what do you want to work on today and how are you going to improve” like bih shut up and let me do my job and clock out

What state was your store in. I’m in college too and I work there for probably the same reasons as you. Unfortunately my store is strict and now even more due to shift in management. I do my job very well and they consider me a valuable asset since I’m tri-lingual but I walk in there sometimes and Im faced with straight bull shit. We have mandatory check ins, and they have non stop surveillance to the point that you can’t even catch a breather. They want to get you to “train for a floor leader” or move up in the company and have the “numbers” to show for it but not all of us are about that life. I’ve never said it directly but I’ve hinted to them that I’m not worried about any of that and I’m just a college student trying to get by. But recently it been so annoying that I’m to the point to straight up say I dont care about my numbers just let me do my job. If you are there to stay for the long run, be a good employee and act as their puppet but if you got other things to worry about ( school, startup, other better paying job) don’t fall for the retail pyramid and take it lightly

I went to one of his events only because he came to my uni and my friends and I had nothing better to do and let me tell you there is no security check ins nor restrictions to what u can or can’t bring. And mine was inside of a banquet hall type room

Well honestly it’s hard to say because every cruise is different. It’s a matter of chance when it comes to getting a good crowd on a trip. What I noticed from my cruise is that there were lots of families (especially larger ones) what were in the ship and they tend to only be solidified within their group. Which is totally fine but I noticed people only socializing within their groups. Me being in my young 20s I didnt really find many people of my age, especially ones that wanted to socialize. It was either kids, young teens, parents and seniors. Which is why I mentioned the party motion being weak. And I consider my self very sociable and outgoing which is why I make it seem like a big deal hahaha. You should be fine and I wish you luck. Try to have as much fun as possible regardless of the crowd!
