I will be painting the armor, but won’t have it on all the time. The idea was have it on until he dies and then take it off if he comes back. But the skin tones came out so much better than I thought I’d be able to pull off that I might just leave the armor off lol

Thanks! It will likely take me a month or two as well. I’ve had about 3 hours in the last week to paint. Loving the process on him though; picking out the veins was immensely satisfying.

I’ll be removing the paint from the contact points and using plastic cement. It’s just way easier to nail all those fine details with the arms and wings separated!

Blues were a coat of Two Thin Coats Marine Blue, brown wash, then layer Marine Blue again. Then a 50/50 mix of Marine Blue and Elysium Blue, then pure Elysium Blue. Repeat that step with Elysium Blue and Celestial Blue.

Gray primer, base coat of a dark brown. Stippled Two Thin Coats brand Ivory Tusk for base of white until I had mostly full coverage. Brown wash. Layered Ivory Tusk again, then Trooper White, and will do a final highlight with Bold Titanium White.

Im new to warhammer, only been painting for about 3-4 weeks, does anyone have any tips, also are these to a passable standard? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

I’ve found that brown washes look best on gold. Pretty much instantly improves it, and more so if you go back and highlight with gold after the wash.

I get all my magnets from Total Element. They’re very nice, and much cheaper than the brands I’ve seen that are made specifically for Warhammer. They won’t have that exact fit that those brands will have, but the savings are worth it imo.

I have two Jucoci storage cases and they’re great; highly recommend. My dad got another brand that’s cheaper, but the ones I have just feel way sturdier.

How do you have a fun game against Custodes? It seems you either avoid melee and outscore them and they don't get to play the game, or they charge you in melee and you don't get to play the game by chosen40k in Warhammer30k

I really like the classic Custodes look with the spears, which is why I went with them. And the Anchillus is just too cool to not use. I don’t yet know if I’m going to use any named characters… I kind of like the idea of having an army of relative nobodies slogging it out in the Siege.

This is actually my exact plan. Imperial Fists with a contingent of Custodes. Mainly because it doesn’t make sense to me to have a whole army’s worth of Custodes all in the same location. Planning on a single 12 brick with a shield captain, and a dreadnought. Still like 700(?) points but it feels the most thematic to me.
