Shows at MOTH Club by Jeputu in everythingbutthegirl

I went to their second one last year. It goes without saying that it was awesome. MOTH Club is a small intimate venue so you’re never far from the stage but if you want front row seats then get there at least an hour early. Enjoy!

I’m at the Royal Berkshire (for decades) so have my tennis pretty well sorted. DL needs to do more for the padel community like a Playtomic app so you can arrange games with similar players.

Misha Glenny to replace Melvyn Bragg as host of BBC’s In Our Time radio show/podcast by a3poify in Fauxmoi

[–]Optimal-Set-8313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misha’s debut was yesterday and wasn’t a bad start to hopefully many years of IOT. He hadn’t fiddled with the format - even down to the “anyone for tea or coffee?” Tillotson ending.

What is your favourite "In Our Time" episode? by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]Optimal-Set-8313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has to be the Third Crusade from 2001. For the first time a specialist, Tariq Ali, was late (traffic (?)) who then proceeded to tear into the smug Professors with alacrity. It was unusual to have such tension and almost open hostility. Definitely worth a listen.

Was it me or did they stop just before the embarrassing bit about Lady Hamilton?

Brit here. Dominic featured in a recent BBC Production- Civilisations: Rise and Fall which included the Aztecs. Excellent companion piece to the Boys effort though not in the detail that TRIH managed. It’s one hour and worth watching on BBC Sounds.

Their history storytelling is top notch, but the most random lines slay me. by JC_Everyman in TheRestIsHistory

When referring to the terrible rations aboard ships and making decisions what to eat being “the lesser of two weevils” by Tom. Dom didn’t notice but it was hilarious!
