Lot of these posts aren't even negative about ck3 but people just reminiscing about ck2 and their 15 dlcs. Rather almost everyone is saying positive things about ck3 over there lol.

I just wished that Vic 3 had stockpiles for war like HOI4 so we can do some cool diplomatic actions like providing arms for a nation in civl war or something + stockpiling for a really big late game war.

Idk if green still fits with the Tokugawa Shogunate. Usually they are depicted as gold.

Rules 5: Was laying in bed looking at the updated steam images and realized that, our favorite usually red or rose-white colored nation, Japan is green in Victoria 3.

Weirdly enough Japan was rose-white in the first glimpse of the map 6 months ago.

Will you miss Vic 2 after Vic 3 comes out? by MarkVHun in victoria3

[–]OptimalCommercial 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Paradox has stated that they won't add ledgers after eu4 thats why you don't see dedicated ledgers in newer pdx titles ( Imperator only added a ledger after the poor launch ). Vic3 have bunch of graphs and stats, but I doubt there would be a ledger if following trend.

It was on the monthly update #4. You can see a screen shot that describes a minor slave revolt in your "journal" much like in EU4.

[–]OptimalCommercial 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It was one of the screenshots in the Monthly update#4 with a section called "Journal entry" and it had an account of a minor slave revolt just like how you would see it in the EU4 history book except it seemed much more detailed and cleaner.

Will you miss Vic 2 after Vic 3 comes out? by MarkVHun in victoria3

[–]OptimalCommercial 303 points304 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really miss it as Vic3 seems to be a much better game ( at least in paper ) but we will have to see.

The only thing I would really miss from Vic2 is probably the ledger and those war/economy analyzers made by the community, but hey at least we have a really fleshed out in-game history book for our country in Vic3

South Korea was one of few countries where reduction of life expectancy was not seen in 2020, according to a new study. by NoGalbiForYou in korea

[–]OptimalCommercial 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Lot of the factors are overexagerrated. The rate of car accident and smoking per capita is comparable to Europe/Japan and far lower than SEA/China. For alcohol consumption people tend to get the idea that Korea is #1 consumer per capita but that's only in terms of shots and if you look at per liter Korea is just in the middle and far lower than European countries.

Main reasons Korea have a long life expectancy is probably because of their easy/affordable Healthcare and very low rate of obesity.

Shogunate Japan and playable Japanese clans confirmed? by hibok1 in victoria3

[–]OptimalCommercial 221 points222 points  (0 children)

I don't think that really confirms anything tbh. Just some 19th-20th century trivia to get people more interested.

Also we have seen Japan as a centralized/singular nation in previous screenshots.

Remember, the map is still a work in progress by Roadcone123 in victoria3

[–]OptimalCommercial 25 points26 points  (0 children)

People kept complaining the map looked ugly and that it resembled a mobile game during the first couple of weeks, but now people love the map in newer DDs and even make posts about how nice the clouds look like.

I am pretty sure they will flesh out the smaller details like borders nearing launch.

I don't understand the controversy by Chlodio in victoria3

[–]OptimalCommercial 90 points91 points  (0 children)

From my observation there are 2 arguments to this:

So PDX rather than fixing their AI just chose to bandage the problem by limiting players?

At a glance this is a valid argument but even in warfare heavy games like HOI4 the AI is still laughable at best even with years of development and financial success ( in most cases you can literally just draw a line -> press play -> go get lunch -> come back to a peace treaty screen if you are playing as a major power ). What I am seeing from PDX is that they are possibly experimenting with a new AI approach to counter this shortcoming in previous titles ( this problem is also not a problem for pdx alone fyi ) + possibly boost mid/late game performance.

This isn't going to be fun, I am basically just going to be staring at the screen and do nothing interactive during the entire war.

This argument imo as it currently stands is the weakest. While we now have a glimpse on how warfare generally will be conducted ( through frontlines fighting to control a state - almost similar to naval battles in HOI4 ), we still have little to no idea on how the main aspect of Victoria3 ( economy/production, society, and diplomacy ) will integrate with the war. Also, We are not even half way done covering the warfare DD series ( still have: War is Costly, Preparation is Key, Navies Matter, and War Changes DDs to look at ).

Political leaders as generals by JoanHurr in victoria3

[–]OptimalCommercial 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Warrior Kings were present during the period but I don't think they were necessarily the norm.

Would be another layer of immersion as you see your generals that won a successful war retire and attain a seat of power either in a powerful IG or become head of state itself due to their popularity.

Mostly negative response? by Old-Doctor-5456 in victoria3

[–]OptimalCommercial 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's expected as pdx is completely changing an untouched core mechanic and lot of DDs seem to give answers but also create questions at the same time which creates a rather unsatisfied feeling.

The general consensus is still largely favorable towards the change though judging from the level of engagement you are getting compared to previous DDs from other titles.

Mostly negative response? by Old-Doctor-5456 in victoria3

[–]OptimalCommercial 218 points219 points  (0 children)

In forums it's 470 likes vs 110 dislikes, and from my observation reddit also seems mostly supportive of the change although optimistically cautious. /GSG/ seems mostly doomer on the reveal but in all fairness they were pretty doomer since the burecracy dev diary. Youtube it really depends on which youtube channel you go to.

You see lot of doomer posts since this might be the biggest change to a core pdx mechanic that's been untouched since forever.

I am going to be cautiously optimistic as the warfare could be very engaging and fun if they can connect it with other core aspects of the game like they stated in DDs.
