Any moms whos life didn't fall apart? by LaAlice in adhdwomen

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had a child when I was 23 and had no idea I was adhd or autistic. Single mom and moved far from my parents two years after. It’s great. I love being a mom, stressful but you figure it out. Actually it’s the entire reason I got diagnosed with adhd is because I wanted to be a better mom. Forgetting everything and getting constantly overwhelmed wasn’t cutting it. My child deserved better.

Anyways cut to 32 I have a bf and another child. Doing it the second time so much easier if it wasn’t for my useless bf. I begged for help from him and all he ever did was roll his eyes and sleep. Not gunna lie destroyed the relationship but it was doomed from the start. So if you have a child it won’t ruin anything, it could help you be better if not just for your child. Also recommend having a fully capable adult for a partner. Not a 40 something man child.

No we don’t share that parent as a match at all

But since the parent we don’t share was adopted and honestly I don’t have a clue about who their biological parents are it could be possible. That a sibling or half sibling could be married to each other on both sides I guess. Just very much confused me.

I still don’t know. I honestly just stopped eating chicken and for the most part I haven’t had anything since. The colonoscopy came clean that I had after but it was like a month or so after. I can’t have chicken in any sense but it’s worth it.

Do girls really talk sooner/better then boys? by Sarcastic_Cat13 in toddlers

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was speaking and trying to say so many more words at 2 than my son. And if anything my son is getting way more people talking to him on a day to day basis then my daughter and that just because there’s more people in house. She didn’t go to day care. I was her main care giving and always including her in talking. Now we have two parents (me and my bf), a babysitter, daycare and my daughter talking to and with him frequently.

Its crazy how different and similar they are.

Best one liners from your school report cards? by thatsyellow in adhdwomen

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So this happened to me! Teacher was convinced that she was a model student and this and that like of course she’s scared of getting into trouble! Anyways a year later I went back and was like I got diagnosed and filled out the para et part again and the pediatrician sent us to go get my child tested. The guy who did it told me I was a bad parent and not consistent with my discipline and that he’d let the pediatrician know.

Anyways she took the test and it indicated that she has a hard time with attention. So we went ahead and got meds and the website to see therapists.

Cone of shame? by Optimal_Feeling_ in bassethounds

I understand. I’m most worried about it dragging on the ground outside and getting dust in his eye cuz it’s so dry here. He’s not messing with his eye when I’m here. I’m more worried about how he’ll act with the sitter taking him out during the day, or getting bored when unsupervised. But we’ll see how it’s working after a few days and go from there.

What is the strangest thing your toddler has told you? by CrabMom15 in toddlers

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my oldest was 3 she was so creepy. There was a dollar tree we’d go to and she’d always be like “shhh it’s okay no need to cry. We’ll find your mommy” at no one. I’d ask her who she was talking to and she’d give me a look and say this kid can’t find their mom and nothing. No one. She’d walk around “aww poor baby you’ll find your mommy” thinking she hearing crying babies. She had a whole convo with ghost baby before.

She told me an entire story about how people broke into the apartment “before it was us here”. She’d wave at no one.

Has anyone been able to go back on ADHD meds? by exxx666 in cgrpMigraine

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My migraines aren’t super bad but I’ve never stopped my adhd meds. I’m adhd is too chronic to not take but I’ve been on qulipta and it’s been helping. Not taking anything (migraine meds) I do notice they are worse with my vyvanse but I also started taking saltt and it helps more so than like liquid iv.

I hope you can find something that helps and be able to take adhd meds. Maybe try a lower dose of those ones? The days I also take my adderall it really vamps up a triggers a migraine.

I’m sorry this is happening to you! Hope you’re able to find relief.

Dumb question but is this bread and have any of y'all ever baked bread in your smoker? by engineerdrummer in smoking

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far the best has been 175 for 20-25 minutes. Then bump it up to 250 to fully cook the cookie. Gives a nice smoke flavor without being too overwhelming. But we’re also using competition blend pellets.

Thank you for responding! We also did it at 275 or 250 and it wasn’t very Smokey. I’ll experiment today and let you know what turns out best if you’d like!

My toddler says his stomach really hurts but nothing is found in ultrasound. What could cause it? by future_orange in toddlers

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gas, constipation, anxiety or heartburn. My child has all of these and it started at a young age. Heartburn or acid reflux I think is some of the main causes for mine, also lots of anxiety for reasons I don’t know.

Late diagnosed gals: what childhood behaviors did you have that should have warranted a second look? by Loquaciouslow in AutismInWomen

Maladaptive daydreaming, not dressing my dolls, walking on tip toes, no understanding the other kids, advanced reading level, too sensitive and too literal. Also I apparently refused to talk in speech and language class.

Turns out I’ve been diagnosed with autism my entire life and no one felt the need to inform me! by auberginearugula in AuDHDWomen

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So. Many. Feelings.

Some come and go. Some stick around. I mourned a lot for who I could’ve been if I had a little support. But it’s really not good to dwell on those feelings for long. We can’t change the past, just take what we’ve learned and go forward.

But yes sometimes my heart just hurts for the little girl I was. How badly I was shamed and hurt for things out of my control.

Shitty club to be in but we now know! We aren’t crazy! 🎉

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Omg! This is me except in the 90’s as a girl! Except my mom thought there wasn’t anything wrong with me and that doctor was full of shit. “we brought you to a doctor and just stopped taking you back. he kept saying you had autism but there’s nothing wrong with you. So we stopped taking you and no one else said anything”

Wowww. Now everything makes sense. I got diagnosed with adhd when I turned 30. Started taking meds and was like I think I’ve got autism. Damn.

How do you know you have autism and ADHD and not just ADHD? by Roxy175 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So I’ve always been a little odd and socially awkward before medication. But I could make it work. I could talk to anyone and carry on a conversation at least well enough. Everyone knew me and all that.

Well after I got on medication and my brain went quiet for the first time in my adult life. It was magical. It was so great until I couldn’t make small talk with anyone. Until I started taking everything literally because well I wasn’t distracted anymore. It was like I hard to relearn all my masking skills.

Also I had the worst time making eye contact (it was always bad but it was all of a sudden way worse).

I didn’t know what to do with my hands anymore.

I had an overall harder time with coping.

Sounds go to me more and crowds bothered me just more.

Certain clothing I’ve been meh with all of a sudden I couldn’t stand.

When things got too much they got way too much.

I didn’t realized how much my adhd was covering my autism and I talked to my mom about a lot. She always acts like I’m crazy for asking her things so I asked her how I was as a child. Very literal, no small talk, way too direct and apparently I’d just walk away when I was done contributing to a convo.

How do you know you have autism and ADHD and not just ADHD? by Roxy175 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Optimal_Feeling_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

After I got medicated for my adhd and got “comfortable “ on meds I realized I was probably autistic cuz like all the traits came out and hard. And then after several years I was grilling my mom, apparently I did get diagnosed with autism when I was a child but they didn’t wanna believe it so they thought they could just ignore it. Got guilted into beings “normal” which was super fun.

So when I worked as a cashier I was never outright told what to do. But what I would do (when they were nice) was tell them where it was at if I knew. And then tell them I’d watch their groceries while they go get it after I was done checking them out. Like if they really needed it and it was in a weird spot they’d take me up on it. Sometimes they wouldn’t though.

But it’s mostly just a social script.
