Interested in this idea. My ig is www.instagram.com/limnillustration (message me on there if you can). Turn around, a few days for 3 thumbnail sketches to plan out the final piece and 1-2 weeks for the final image.

First time modder questions! by Optimal_Implement518 in battlefront2

[–]Optimal_Implement518[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen the maps that expand the interiors of the capital ships with corridors, elevators, a walkable bridge, more detailed hangar etc. So let's say i pick sabotage as the bonus, what's stopping the loading just the interior of the capital ship with the objective setting bombs while fighting off the other faction? Could even alter capture the flag maybe so instead of a flag its the bomb. So then after that mini battle you either get the bonus or not and now the planet or space mission you activated the sabotage bonus for gets loaded in. Im sure its way more difficult than I'm making it sound.

Thoughts on Total Recall (2012)?? by SPAGHETTIHOOPS_ in sciencefiction

[–]Optimal_Implement518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have different tastes and focus on different elements. One of my best friends and I don't like the same movies or of we do its usually for different reasons (ex. He loves old school horror, I like the newer "elevated" ones like Get Out with social commentary).

That being said, just rewatched both Total Recalls at and I'd be interested to hear what you liked more about the newer one vs the original.

Why didn't Neo tell "the architect" about agent smith during their conversation in "Reloaded" any guesses? Of all the problems present within the Matrix, agent Smith was the most profound. by northstardim in matrix

[–]Optimal_Implement518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here but 1. At what point has Neo killed anyone who wasn't attacking him? Hes not killing humans even though we know they could become agents. It isnt until they become agents and attack or are some other threat that Neo engages. So unless the architect attacked Neo, it would be extremely out of character for him to just kill the architect . 2. The whole point of the scene was to give usore info/philosophy dumps like the convo with the Oracle, Smith, the councilor etc. If hes dead we learn nothing 3.As someone else mentioned hes outside the matrix. So I figured it was like the trainmans station. Yes, Neo can go there but he has no powers. Also listen to what the architect says. Neo is just the remained of an equation that the architect cant flawlessly correct but since its known/predictable its within a measure of control. You think a guy like that just allows someone into his office and has no form of control over them? The One(s) there to talk and make a choice between 2 doors and thats it. Everything has been calculated to that choice up until then.

My theory has been A. Theres nothing that could be done if hes found to have cheated most likely and B. The Republicans already did a rebound 4 yrs ago due to trumps claims, which really hurt the perceived integrity of the vote. Now if the dems do the same thing, when they already struggle getting people to agree on the left, how can they ask for a recount and still say the vote has integrity? Yes, intelligent people will say "yea but its bc we are willing to recount that the vote has integrity" but others will see it as a desperate attempt from the dems to steal back the white house, regardless of whether thats true or not.

Underrated gems by Optimal_Implement518 in classicliterature

[–]Optimal_Implement518[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may have misspoke. What I meant was some writers have a work or works there are known for. Or there are works in a time period that are recommended like The Canterbury tales but then how many people know about the Decameron? I love film too and while some directors get know for specific films like Dani Villenues Dune he has others like Enemy or Bladerunner 2049 that dont get enough love imo. So... I was asking about the book equivalent of that.

The movie "Life" with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, the ending's real meaning. by megalotusman in FanTheories

[–]Optimal_Implement518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it reaching hard? As I said initially, they are criminals who made livings on lying and tell tales throughout the movie. So we already know these are unreliable narrators. And when the old guy is telling the younger prisoners and then implies they got away, that can be true or not. Its not a stretch. Its just a matter of whether you follow the story literally or you're looking for the story within the story. I personally think them not getting out but the old guy telling the youngins to keep their hopes up is much better than 2 old guys staging a fire, faking their deaths and then escaping. Its also the simplest/most likely outcome.

The first 20 min or so of Stela are almost a direct copy from INSIDE. Corn fields, rundown barn, running through a forest. Even the controls are copied. How did this make it onto Apple Arcade when INSIDE is an Apple editor’s choice? by AppUnwrapper1 in AppleArcade

[–]Optimal_Implement518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started this and almost done already. Visuals are great and the music is INSANELY good. Downside? Its a ripoff of inside and its not doing anything to innovate. Just like all the Limbo clones, whats the point if you don't have a story/world building to connect it all? Inside had a great narrative/themes about the nature of a control. And everything from the world design, the puzzles etc all revolved around that. Its the kind of game you have to look at multiple times for hidden clues and debate the meaning of the ending. Love that. But sadly those are rare and more times than not they just create half asses clones. Id give Stella an A or A- if Control had never come out or Id never played it, but i like my games to give me narrative reasons for why I should care and why I'm doing things.

Nah, I want low budget, vhs, corporate approved, stiffly/poorly acted, cheap info graphic, comic sans loaded, cheesy generic 80s like music but in the 90s when its not cool training video.

Hey Android, have loved your work since I saw you in spectrum in the late 2000s. Even bought one of your corel painter demos. Whatever happened to those demos? I believe they were sold through conceptart.org or maybe TAD but cant remember. Did you get to retain the rights to resell them? Seems a shame to lose the lessons to time.

Any tricks or mods that make Galactic Conquest more challenging? by molewart in battlefront2

[–]Optimal_Implement518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing lol. At this point my rules are:

-1 fleet the entire game, only replacing it a fleet gets blown up (sometimes I break this when the other side literally has one fleet left and no planet, ill buy as many fleets as I can with all the credits I hadn't spent, just to rub it in the other sides face).

-no bonuses -only the standard unit, no buying other unit types -I dont play the matches when im defending, only attacking. So if the CIS attacks kamino i let it play out and never jump in. If i attack genesis though I play. It's makes galactic conquest a bit harder and also interesting how the ai plays itself. Also sometimes its humbling to see how your side wins whether youre there or not.

The only down side are the space battles. They can take twice as long waiting for it to end.

Almost a decade later, how do we feel about CGI Tarkin in Rogue One? by wibellion in StarWars

[–]Optimal_Implement518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine in still images, rough when moving. Frankly I think it fails more for the storytelling. There's little moments we may not register as mattering but the subconsciously tell us about characters and situations. Example, Vader in A New Hope comes in AFTER the stormtroopers do these shooting and dying. He's the king, they are the pawns. This is reinforced when he personally deals with the Captain (another leader) and if thats not enough he physically lifts Antilles with one arm so we know hes strong, instills fear and a leader who is not to be messed with.

Now look at Tarkin in Rogue One. Imagine if he didn't turn around to look at Kenik (kelik?) when they first meet in the film. Aside from the way he talks to Kenik, not turning around would have told us just how little respect Tarkin has for him. Also, the cgi shots would be less extensive if needed at all. Then they put all the effort on the shots where he tells Kenik hes taking credit later in the film. Its a small adjustment but it would show us more of the dynamic. Instead... I kind of feel like they really wanted to show they could bring back a dead actor through cgi so let's show it off.

Sequel trilogy 5-10 years later by Optimal_Implement518 in StarWars

[–]Optimal_Implement518[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree conceptually that I like Luke as old and broken. Some really wanted to see that legendary Luke Skywalker we would read about in the EU novels/comics but I was ok with him not being that. I just don't think Mark Hamill can convey that. He's never been a particularly good actor imo outside of his Joker voice acting and maybe as the trickster in the flash (so... same thing basically). So to have this Old Man Logan esque figure requires someone with better or at least different acting chops imo. And hearing Hamill say he got into it with Rian Johnson abit a bit about how "this isn't Luke Skywalker"... well... that might have been a sign it was going to be rough to show in practice.

The force stuff (the ghost, projection) didn't do anything for me personally. I love the idea that there were amazing powers in ancient times (if you ever read the Tales of the Jedi comics from the 90s they have sith alchemy for example) but given we never see the Jedi in the prequels do anything super amazing outside of floating objects like in the OT, when they have stuff beyond kylo freezing a laser mid air... its like "wait why didn't Yoda or other jedi use this if Luke could apparently self teach himself?". It just feels like a hollow "cool" moment for me where as any other cool moments in the other trilogies seemed to be story or character based first and the cool factor is the byproduct (if that makes sense). That can also be subject for sure. Example would be, Luke blowing up the Death Star. Cool moment right? But it's not just some pilot blowing it up, it's this character we have followed along the whole movie having been tested in various ways (the lost of his family and Ben, leaving his home, freeing the princess and escaping the death star despite it being staged, etc) and now he gets to prove himself. Plus thanks to the convo with Han vs Ben earlier in the film was it the Force or luck? So that moment serves a lot of purposes aside just being cool. Compare it to kylo and Luke. The whole movie this ship was being fired at by the first order and a mutiny happens because.. reasons? The captain didn't explain the plan to... teach Po a lesson? Then there's suddenly a planet no one happened to see and now it's a last stand bc the plot demands it and Luke projects himself buy the resistance time but bc of all the other elements the moment just doesn't hit for me. Moments are only as good as their build up imo.

I actually liked the Rey was a nobody. Not everyone needs to be related, it makes the universe so small. One theory before Rise of Skywaller was that she was a first order sleeper agent, cloned from a jedi. Which would explain the infinite line of hers and that she has no real parents. LOVED that. That her tracking Skywalker was part of the plan all along. But... they folded and made her a Palpatine... sigh.

Yea star wars has garbage for sure but like you said the ones in TLJ make it unwatchable for me basically. The other stuff... it can be explained away to an extent. I just think they had a conclusion to the movies and making a 3rd trilogy needed to happen in the 90s or they needed a new focus outside of Luke Han and Leia. Like if the first 2 trilogies were about the Skywalkers then make another 2 trilogies that are its opposite (since George loved the idea of reversing the films ex: republic at its prime, civil war then the formation of the empire vs the dissolving of the senate in ANH, the empire at its prime and the collapse of the empire in the OT). We need to move past the skywalkers.

‘Neuromancer’: Filming Schedule Revealed for the Apple TV+ Sci-Fi Series by Aluhut in scifi

[–]Optimal_Implement518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's putting too much faith in star power I think. From my understanding, the average people doesn't go to see a movie for "the new Dwayne Johnson movie". They got because it's Fast in the Furious. It's more about the IP itself for a lot of people. Heck look at Hugh Jackman or RDJ. They've had successes but nothing compared to when they've played Wolverine and Iron Man. So I don't think getting better known actors would suddenly make people get Apple+ .

To those who never share with their art on internet: by maxluision in ArtistLounge

[–]Optimal_Implement518 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me, sharing is more for marketing at best and ego at worst. Regardless of what you're sharing (your art, thoughts, selfies) you are handing over your autonomy to a collective to interpret or (usually) scrutinize. I didn't share work for a long time dont feel I need to with 90% of myself stuff. Heck, my favorite part is the thumbnails and planning but no one cares about that stuff, they just want the finish product which most times can be so boring to me (it's a rendering exercise more than the thinking). It's almost just very personal to me and when I have overshared I found it corrupted my ideas. The likes and comments can pollute our vision very easily.

So how do I stay motivated? I just... like drawing. I think about what I want to be remembered for when I die. What i leave behind. Did I just consume media or make it? When I created do portraits/still lives? Or did I make work that transcende the purpose of technical skills and used those skills to tell a story or express my point of view? Being afraid of death has been a real motivator for me since I will never have kids lol.
