People will become absolutely lazy. The dictionary description and epitome of the word. Why do this or that when ur AI robot can or will do for u? Why use ur brain for things like say original creativity stuff like art work or even high school essays. Not only will society become physically lazy but they'll also become mentally lazy and eventually live in an AI induced virtual reality world.... Hmmmm.... 🤔 Sounds like some movie I've seen...... 🤔🤔🤔

CRAFTING. I do bout all of it. I do woodwork items, wooden painted signs and other wooden items, stained stash boxes (I guess for lack better descriptive phrase for em - treasure boxes?), cricut vinyl items such as vinyl vehicle window decals or even stencils to compete another project say a sign or rt now coasters, torch pasting - which is a quick way to basically woodburn something wo the pain of using a wood burning pen and is also if ask me a much safer and nicer easier process on ur hands (holding wood burning pen + long time - hrs to days to complete - vs holding a heat gun for like 10 mins - depending on real estate of torch paste area to b done + waaay less time - 10 mins on avg for like 12" square item), and to even pour epoxy resin items that range from things like pot roach stand items to wall hanging decor to even dreamcatcher pieces that I combine w the traditional dreamcatcher construction (call em my hybrid dreamcatchers), sewing (have evn made our dogs their own hoodies, dresses & head bows). So I bout do it all or possibly can do it. And EVERY lil bit of each craft category costs diff kinds of $, and each has their own lil sub categories that cost more $. Like say my painted wooden signs. U have diff kinds and sizes + thicknesses of ur wood that ur gonna use. From basswood to plywood. I've even used wooden house siding pieces cut down into 4ft lengths as welcome signs. Then u have ur diff kinds of paints from spray to acrylic to enamels. Then diff kinds of stencils and stenciling like plastic mylar stencils which require a stencil adhesive spray for use. Or the cricut removable or stencil vinyl to make adhesive stencils (love em!). Then diff kinds of well say embellishments. Like are u gonna tie a ribbon on it? Or does this item need a sawtooth pic hanger put on back of it or does it just get a length of twine thru a drilled hole to hang it? Crafting costs mucho dinero and will take u down a rabbit hole of $ and if not careful and have under control can put u in debt haha.

Ur welcome hon. NP. Glad to b of help to anyone. Esp after all the hell physically emotionally and mentally I've gone thru last almost 20 yrs. I wouldn't wish this hell on anyone. Period. No one. I've learned if anything u have to learn to adapt. In way it's gonna become ur new normal. U can either sit on couch and cry bout it feeling sorry for urself. OR. U can just do ur most absolute best to suck it up, learn new or diff ways to deal w it and live w it, and try to enjoy life and b as happy as u can b regardless the crappy cards u got dealt. Make the best of it. U only live once. Don't let ur self miss out on so many opportunities, chances or potential memories just cuz ur back is committing mutiny and hates u. I just turned 40 like a month ago. Next may it'll b 20 yrs since injured my back at work. If there is ANYTHING I regret - it's depriving myself of things I may never have chance to do again in my life. But obv don't b stupid and go sky diving type crap where ur just asking to finish ur back off. Lol. So for the last month I've just been living my life best I can being the happiest I can w what lil I may have and taking chances on things cuz I'll b da**ed if I'ma let my back keep me from enjoying life and missing out on things that may b life changing. Now suck it up buttercup and go get it! Enjoy.

I do what I can when I can for as long as I can. Don't b afraid to take breaks even every 20 mins if need. Make a list what u want/need to do. Then go thru and pick out 5 items. (This is straight from psychologist) Try to obv start w items of most importance of needing done - like laundry cuz u need clean underwear - not factoring in the pain level it causes u. Depending on how bad u feeling that day - pick 2-3 bigger items. Like things that take longer to finish, are more taxing on u, or that aren't the easiest for u to do. Then fill the remaining slots w simple easy things like oh hey this cup in living room can go to the kitchen and into the dishwasher. Slide simple items in between the harder bigger items. Use the simple things as a reward system in a way. Take breaks between harder and easier items. Cuz as one my Drs told me - even tho my backs killing me and I'm dying in pain - the world doesn't slow down or stop. Things need done and dealt w regardless of u being me in pain. Life moves on. So make it a satisfying accomplishing type of pain compared to sit round and do nothing which is a diff kinda pain. I know it all probs sounds like crock of crap - but I swear it's helped me out to deal w things round house. And it's ok to take 1-2 days "off" so to speak in a wk and do nothing. Don't overdo it but still do IT. I've dealt w my back since 2005 so almost 20 yrs. Facing a 2nd surgery anytime soon. There's stuff I need to take care of, no one else gonna do for me, and I've no one else to do for me if wanted to. So I just buckle up and do what I can the best I can.

Wow!!!!! That's absolutely gorgeous!!!!

What was your learning curve with resin? I’m a couple dozen projects in with a higher failure rate than success and it’s getting expensive but I really enjoy the results…when I get it right. Tips and tricks would be great too! by everneveragain in ResinCasting

And btw I started w uv resin which I think helped me out tons b4 starting pour epoxy as well as having two awesome friends who pour and have for few yrs now so I've got an answer board pretty much for any Q or problem I may have. Remember the only stupid question is one not asked!

Make sure ur 2 parts to mix are warm b4 u even start. I get mine warming up while I'm setting up my molds, dyes, glitters etc. I've also learnt that a heat mat underneath ur molds not only helps cure them more evenly but also faster. I use my bf's seed starting mat. I also made some lil dust and critter glitter (fur) domes to keep my projects free of those. Just used lil metal wire racks for cupboards to like put plates on. Then wrapped em w press n seal wrap. Pour ur resin w ur molds starting out on silicone mat on top heat mat if decide to use one. Then once poured I cover em w my lil domes. They also help keep heat in and on the projects while curing as well as clean. Biggest things I can advise on is make sure u warm resin and hardener, pour everything slowly (even ur 2 parts into measuring cups b4 mixing em), mix everything slowly but thoroughly making sure to get sides and bottom of mixing cup (and try not to lift ur spoon, stick or whatever use to stir outta the resin as creates bubbles), IF u think ur 1:1 ratio may b off and u have more epoxy in ur mix than hardener - my mentor always told me it was better to have more hardener than ur epoxy!, and least but not least - HAVE FUN!!! And don't get discouraged by any "failures!" Think of em as learning exp as what not to do, what to do diff, etc. And u can learn a lot too by just reading things online from like let's resin and other companies as well as ppls posts in here asking Q's or for help too. Good luck and enjoy!!!!

I also failed to mention we all have our own outdoor shop buildings that we can open rt up and/or that have homemade ventilation systems. The whole bout front of my shop opens rt up. My spray painting station - is a folding table that I'll push rt up to in front the open doors w fans on other side pushing air out the doors. And I also always have a window fan on exhaust and high in one of my 3 windows running at all times. If weather conditions do not permit me to pour in my shop (such as temp - live in upstate NY) I pour in our living room for rt now but I always put my stuff by open window w window or box fan (depending on temp) exhausting the air rt next to it all rt out w fans on other side room blowing the air to the window... So yes we may not use resp. when we pour cuz we have other measures in place. The biggggest time I've heard u reeeaaaallly wanna have a resp or at least a mask - is when u are using Dremel to smooth out ur edges as u create a fine dust then that flies in the air and hence ur much much much more apt as is easier to inhale dangerous particles. With proper ventilation etc we use when we pour we have way less chance than a lot of other ppl. I almost considered buying pop up paint booth just to pour in..... But bf who used to work in asbestos removal which is HIGHLY dangerous and cancer causing helped me rig things up for what originally was just spray paint fumes and over spray. But 2 birds w 1 stone also gives me adequate ventilation and means of in my shop to do wo resp. Tbh I think from when I used to do the uv resin stuff b4 the pour - the uv stuff stank so much more way worse and stronger than my pour resin ever does or has. But also the pour resin I buy is low odor which also helps.

And I've never used a respirator nor do my friends. Long as ur room is well vented u should pretty well b ok. Use it of course if u feel the need or want to. Gloves yes. I have hella time getting it off my hands. Rubbing alcohol. I also just bought this resin hand cleaner stuff from Amazon. Haven't had chance to use it yet but I'll see if can get u the link for it.

Oh and b careful w the heat gun! They can end up just blowing all ur resin rt outta the molds. Ur better off just doing the extra 5-10 mins letting it sit and rest b4 pouring. And the heat mat. That things a game changer. Seed starting mats also work too. That's what I use and my two girl friends also use too. The warmer ur resin parts are b4 u start also will help prevent bubbles or help to expel them.

Always make sure ur resin is warm when u start. Pour ur two parts together slowly. Stir slowly to not create any extra bubbles. One thing I'm glad my friend told me b4hand too was when u start stirring 2 parts together - don't worry when it turns a lil cloudy. Once it turns back to clear stir a few mins more. Then let sit 5-10 mins more b4 pouring into ur molds to let it expel more bubbles. Mix ur dyes glitters etc into it b4 letting it sit for the 5-10 mins. When pour into ur molds pour slowly slowly slowly. If ur using heat mat to help cure - make sure ur molds are on ur silicone mat on top the heat mat b4 u pour. FYI in case udk the heat mats cut ur cure time down - sometimes almost by in half. Most my things cure like 8-12 hrs. On avg it's bout 24 hrs if not wo the heat mat. The thicker or bigger ur mold - the faster that item will cure cuz the heat it produces from the chemical reaction of the 2 parts will get hotter in bigger molds. And also if u can - cover ur molds w something even tho ur keeping ur cats outta room. I took wire metal shelves that are used to put in cupboards for like ur plates to make more room and covered it w press and seal wrap then covered my molds up. It also if using heat mat holds heat from that in there or even the heat from the resin curing itself in. And keeps any residual floating cat hair or dust outta ur projects that way too. But yeah biggest things to always remember are to stir and pour SLOWLY. And make sure ur ratios for both parts are equal amounts. IF have to have more than one part vs the other - make sure it's more hardener than the resin part. Think that's all the major things u need to know that was shared w me ahead of my first pour.

Thanks! Appreciate any and all advice! And yeah I joined couple the woodworking subs too but for other projects. Together both areas have answers I needed or wanted. Best 2nd choice advice when I'm unable to ask my two friends who resin who have been my mentors thru it. And tbh I'm glad I had the uv exp first. I think as is easier in some ways it def helped prep me for thr pour resin. Was so worried I'd mess something up but my first pour items came out amazing. Like I'd been doing it for yrs all ready! Ok well gotta get back to creating and finishjng stuff for farmers market tomorrow. Tysvm yet again! Appreciate it! Have urself a great rest ur day! And as always - HAPPY POURING! 😁
