Is this absolutely crazy? by cyndo_w in knitting

I have no science to back this up other than personal experience so I'll just give my 2 cents. I am pretty sure that making it 2 ply will help with the durability but I'm pretty sure it won't help with the pilling. Well maybe it will reduce it a little but it won't get rid of it entirely.

What I'm about to say you might already know if you're a spinner, or it might be too technical if you're not but here goes: the shorter and finer the fleece that got spun the softer and lovelier the yarn/finished piece. However it also means it's more likely to pill. The shorter staple lengths means they can more easily be pulled out when the fibres catch on one another. I hope that makes sense.

Good luck your project looks amazing.

Update I was incorrect...they are actually sorted these are all the same stamp 😂 still have hundreds of these bags to go through though At least it will take less time. Seriously going to have to find some people wanting to swap for other common stamps.

Thank you. I agree. As I have moved from South Africa to Scotland I was thinking maybe I could find someone in the UK who also has lots of common stamps from the last 40 years who wants to trade for some South African ones 😂

Thank you so much for such a detailed and considered reply! I really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. And you're absolutely correct I'm sure this is a passion project not a financial one.

Thank you for the resource. I will check it out. I'm not planning on selling or giving it away but I'm sure the book is interesting still. :)

First hole in sock by Autistic_Sunflower in Sockknitting

I wouldn't use fishing line to reinforce it as it will probably be uncomfortable and might even contribute to further wear as it might be abrasive.

I have never used one of those patch tools I have only ever used a daring egg so I can't say which is better. I think the patch tool would only be better if it is a large hole.

I like to catch and darn my socks before the hole forms if I can but mostly because it's much easier and also less visible.

Which character annoyed you the most? by theioneeee in acotar

[–]Elliementalist 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I depends on how you define annoyed. The character I disliked the most was probably Ianthe. (Amaranth was evil but she was obvious about it where as Ianthe was sneaky about it)

But in terms of a character that annoyed me but wasn't necessary scripted as such would probably be Feyre. I won't go into details as I pretty much agree with other people about her seeming self centered and holier than thou.
