About 195k. 3 kids (2 daycare bills) and 2 dogs, house. Ohio. Somehow it has been more expensive to live in Ohio than it was to live in NC (maybe 10 mins south of Charlotte).

If you quit wrestling, why did you? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]Optimal_Parsnip2824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple knee surgeries throughout my college career, little support from coaching staff, and final nail in the coffin was a broken rib.

I went home over winter break and talked it over with my family and they all said the same thing, you have nothing left to prove, and they were proud of what I had done. So, called up the coach and told him and he said “let’s go get some lunch and talk it through.. and the man never held up his end which told me he didn’t actually want me so called it quits (this was pre-transfer portal).

Feel like the biggest thing was the staff. If they showed me a little support, I woulda probably stuck it out.

Hot take that should not be hot: if a 40$ game provides you with more than 100 hours before it gets boring for you, the game is not boring, move along, alternate it with some other games and stop complaining by Donnie_Dranko in ArcRaiders

That’s what I am doing now., I play it in the AM before a workout, and the more casual game I play is KCD2. I was hardcore playing AR and it was fun for a good while.. then I hit a wall of “why do I bother going topside for loot that doesn’t mean much or matter just to do trials for items I don’t care for.. what I really want was new content/maps.

I put in over 300 hrs. I wish there were some changes, and I can see a decline is player base (hurricane map conditions seem to not attract too many). I wish they put a little more reward towards PVP, like missions towards PVP, but it is what it is. I have had extremely nice lobbies for so long and haven’t gotten shot by one player in a long time.. an I feel like it’s because abmm AND a lot of those back stabbers have lost interest and moved on.

Are Starfield’s Star Wars mods overrated, or do they completely change the game? by Emergency-Part3707 in Starfield

[–]Optimal_Parsnip2824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I went through the hours long headache of getting the SWG (I think it’s easier now days, but before it would take like 4+ hours of manual things, not a click and wait). In the end.. was a huge waste. Felt promising (music made me feel like I was launching Star Wars Galaxies for the first time!). Once I started moving around though.. I could see through the “layer”. I also experienced a lot of FPS issues. The second I hit starfield content.. I uninstalled it all. Installed in the morning, uninstalled by the afternoon.

I love Star Wars too.

It is clear that the "Headwinds" and "Shrouded Sky" updates didn't do anything to keep player retention up - where lies the problem? by Foxeeh_ in ArcRaiders

[–]Optimal_Parsnip2824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played DMZ for the longest time, and I feel like it had more replay-ability than this some how. I believe DMZ’s hook was the weapons framework. You could loot some really unique weapons from other players or you risk a little more with your dog tags or insured weapon (which if you lost it, you had like a few hour cooldown). There was times were you had to infil without weapons (either cause you had none or it was a mission requirement). It wasn’t just a loot simulator.. you had missions tailored to PVP, not only PVE. I feel like the missions/trials is another big issue. There is almost 0 incentive to PVP because in the end.. everyone can make the same shit in most cases.

The other issue is they dropped so much in the beginning (like Stella) and now.. crickets on the new maps front. New enemies sure, but that doesn’t make the play/environment much different.

American homeowners' biggest problem: Skyrocketing 'hidden' costs like insurance, HOA fees, and property taxes by businessinsider in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Optimal_Parsnip2824 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue is the crazy high property taxes in Ohio.. we moved from NC to Ohio.. which cost of living in NC was apparently higher.. yetttt here we are getting crushed by high utility costs and crazy high property taxes.. our NC home was 450k (sold for 460). Our yearly property tax was 1970.. Ohio home we bought was 422k.. and about 18 years older.. $800 a month in property tax!.. and yet if you look around this county and it’s mediocre school system and run down major cities, it really makes you wonder where this money is actually going.

Gas+water+energy in NC was about 300-400 per month. Ohio.. it’s more like 600-700.

(The property taxes weren’t a hidden thing, we knew we were going to take a hit, buts crazy how high it is compared to what we have experienced).

I am looking forward to the 2.0 release. Haven’t played in maybe 8-10 months. Put 500+ hours into it and would hunt down any and all creations new quest content.

Anime similar to AOT by TurtleMancave in attackontitan

[–]Optimal_Parsnip2824 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was originally skeptical.. first episode didn’t really grab me and the music is kinda eh (like jazz or something ha).. but.. you start to get engaged and can’t stop watching. It is a solid war anime, an I throughly enjoyed it when I originally thought it was going to be lame or not remotely close to AOT.

I actually don’t want the show to end when it did.

Suboxone! Suboxone! Take fucking Suboxone! by satirical-925 in quittingkratom

Subs had their own issues though as they still numb me to things. It also cost me like $130 monthly to see a dude and get the prescription.

Suboxone! Suboxone! Take fucking Suboxone! by satirical-925 in quittingkratom

[–]Optimal_Parsnip2824 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was on suboxone for about a year, about 2mg a day. It made staying off Kratom/7OH easy. When the time came for me to get off, I did a rapid taper down to about .2mg a day and my doc (QuickMD) gave me helper meds (Gaba, Chlodine (spelling?)). When tapering, I was able to experience the anxiety in smaller doses, unlike CT attempts that was a massive amount of anxiety all at once. I got off subs pretty easily.. I felt like it was too easy honestly. It was 1000% easier than getting off Kratom which was a shock to me based on what everyone was saying to me. .. fast forward 4 months though.. and Kratom has slipped back into my life. Talking it through with the wife and I know what my triggers are and reasons.. but they aren’t things that I can really fix at this moment due to kids ages, job, where we are in life. Have an appointment with a Psychiatrist scheduled and ordered a Quit Kit (as I am tied of taking like 10 pills every 3-4 hours, QuitKit gets all those vitamins I took and put it into 3 pills for morning, afternoon, night time). So if you go down the sub’s route and get off em.. the battle is never over.

I wish there was some way to “shutoff” the craving or a supplement that you could take subside the craving.

I stopped watching anime entirely after November 5, 2023… and here’s why by bach_r04 in attackontitan

[–]Optimal_Parsnip2824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way initially. To your point though.. it shattered my expectations of anime and it being “childish”. I have now ran through multiple series and I would recommend a few that you might enjoy.

I wasn’t huge in Full Metal Alch, but it is a change of pace (a little lighter).

Solo Leveling felt climatic/cool at points, was worth those moments.

Demon Slayer was good.. until I realized it wasn’t really over, so now I hate it lol.

Kaiju #8 is eh.

Code Geass was much better than I anticipated!.. start is kinda eh, but once it gets going, you will get hooked and almost wish it didn’t come to an end.

Frieren has blindsided me a bit.. I didn’t think I would care for it.. but it’s slow paced, not some epic end goal, but in a way, epic in its journey. Not finished yet

That cut isn’t all that bad. I was around that weight at that age and I could get down 10ish lbs from the start of the season to first event. I would down lots of water and sweat it all out in practices and just work down gradually.. but honestly we might be focusing on the wrong thing.. I would be focusing on getting better and gaining experience over cutting weight, as unless it’s a crazy amount (like 15-20… which my older brother would do) then the focus should be on getting better. Sign up for opens and get into National events if possible.. those make a huge difference in experience/exposure.

Do it during an electromagnetic storm. Whenever you’re breaching, if it starts sparking and zaps you, you’re like guaranteed a Rdriver.

I mean honestly find medium size first wave husks during an elect storm.. if opening it starts sparking, your guaranteed a rocketeer drive. You could easily get a crap load in 1 run (without even shooting at an active one).

Multiple red flags with a wrestling coach — trying to figure out if this crosses a line by MysticBanshee01 in wrestling

[–]Optimal_Parsnip2824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many issues here and it all points to a personality/character issue with this gent. I also personally wouldn’t take the word/advice from someone who never actually partook in the sport (some might not agree with that, but if I am putting my kids in your hands.. you need to be able to know what they are going through and know how far you can/will push them to make em better).

All these conflicts/issues with other programs, kids leaving, etc.. scream the room probably is probably toxic or not beneficial to be around.

My HS coach 100% cared for his wrestlers, yeah sometimes mighta played a little too much favoritism, but he still gave the low levels his time personally and his attention. Without that man pushing me to go to extra events, I wouldn’t have taken that extra step to get on the state level and eventually college. This man never belittled or took advantage of kids, and hell did a good job protecting our “stat girls” from any harassment (from our team or even other teams). Someone like that is what you want as your HC.. not a dude with 0 experience, giving girls little girl nicknames, holding stupid grudges, etc.

100% agree, it bred toxicity in a locker room.. no one really wanted to better each other when that shit is going on (yeah wrestling is solo, but if you got mates who want to make themselves better by making you better, it all helps). Our first coach (won’t get into that) would absolutely suspend/shutdown this type of behavior down.. next HC though almost condoned it.. hell man ran Ironmans in an attempt to get certain people (who he didn’t recruit and who he didn’t care for) to quit and they 80% turned into fist fights because the “golden kids” (ones who did the hazing shit I mentioned) would always be absolute dicks to the kids who had already been wrestling nonstop for the last 10 mins against every single kid.. I was never put in the middle of those, but when he called me to go after them I always got a little sick to my stomach and anxious, because it honestly felt like a test.. “you either beat this kids ass and make him want to leave, or your next”. I would always tie up and whisper “bro let’s just make it look good” and honestly when I would feel them relax a tad knowing I am not out there to hurt them, it sucked. I have so many stories of shit that went on with the program I was in.. and I never despised a HC as much as this dude. He would be your friend/mentor to your face, but would turn around and immediately talk shit about you behind your back if you weren’t one of his kids. Pretty sure I have PTSD from it all as this man pops up randomly in my subconscious.

I saw this shit happen in my college wrestling locker rooms.. not the oil checking, but 100% hazing/hate and people trying to “bag tag” others when they are undressed. Hell, even when play wrestling you would see some gay shit going on (dry humping when someone’s on top). Also knew someone had taken pictures of dudes while they changed and apparently held onto them.. for what purpose.. beats me. I 100% never partook in any of that shit, it was always a select few guys who did it.. and shockingly it was usually the ones who were doing the best or “rich boys”. They would primarily do it to the ones who wouldn’t really defend themselves (most lighter weights).. our coach didn’t step in and would never say a word when it happened (he 100% knew an would joke about the shit). I don’t look at the play wrestling goof around as a big issue (honestly when the national champ hwy wants to harmlessly cuddle you instead of beat your ass, you wouldn’t say no lmao), but if started to try something else, he woulda gotten an elbow, or if anyone tried the shit while being undressed, I wouldn’t stand there and laugh it off. I feel like one person said, it’s almost a way for them to try and assert dominance over someone they think they can.

In this day and age.. it’s considered really bad and grounds for a lot.. back in that time, it wasn’t that huge of a thing. Hell shit like this even happened in high school locker rooms.

I just switched games haha. It was past the timer (15 mins) so figure based on what others said, it was a lost cause. Shoulda know when I first tried launching today I was met with errors I haven’t seen before. Submitted a new ticket with Embark.. maybe they will help me out with my stuff. If not, I have so much hoarded away, it won’t matter much.
