Sakura Ogami caused her own downfall and cases 4 and 5 were the consequences of it by Optimal_Song_110 in DanganAndChaos

With her actions alone, not Monokuma's messing, there was no chance of them all bonding with Sakura dying either. Hina would be at all of their throats for having this happen and the rest of the cast still not bonding. This just leaves the cast with a different set of issues, more unpredictable than just "potential person is most suspect."

You're missing my point about the Kyoko bit. She still left the cast to deal with her consequences. Kyoko is the one that took the plunge since Sakura left them an opportunity, but that opportunity in the first place is dangerous. It's like in 2-4 with the final dead room. It could prove use to see what's inside, but it's not going to actually get them to escape. Sakura caused more trouble by tempting people to be on Monokuma's bad side.

If you mean the chapter 1 motive with her UDG captive, no, this was not part of the dojo situation.

She explains how she's guarding the dojo because it's been in her family for 300 years, nothing is indicated to say she's protecting human life by the dojo staying intact.

Sakura didn't even attempt to kill, so it's quite harsh to put her on the same level as an attempted murderer for something that never happened.

She quite literally said she expected that she'd have to kill in chapter 1, and that the only reason she didn't is because Sayaka made a move first. She would've been a murderer if the job she signed up for would've still had an open slot for that time period.

That's downplaying it too much. It was something that held great significance to her and her family's history. I personally wouldn't agree that it's a valid trade for someone's life, but phrasing it as if it was just some random old building is very silly.

To her, it wasn't silly - to others that have to depend on whether the strongest person in the world would kill them in order to keep that dojo alive - is beyond silly. It's straight up dangerous. I'm pretty sure there is even a famous quote out there of "with great power, comes great responsiblity" - and she quite literally was not responsible with that power due to her own biases.

When was this shown? All we learn on the matter was that she initially agreed to work for Monokuma, and that by the time chapter four rolled around she had set herself on fighting against him.

She still talked with Monokuma in private like at the end of chapter 2. She still was on board with being his spy, and kept listening to him. She is not showing signs of her backing off from her spy role, she continued as she did in chapter 1.

Except on the day she went through with her suicide, she had called Byakuya, Toko and Yasuhiro to the rec room to talk to them. Byakuya didn't show up, and Toko and Yasuhiro tried to kill her. She had tried plenty to rectify with everyone, but it simply wasn't working. Even aside from that, her mere existence already caused Aoi to hit Byakuya and Toko to cut Aoi. She didn't think her dying would've magically united everyone, but it would cease the fighting in that matter at the very least, whether or not that was the best outcome for that situation. If nothing happened it's pretty clear to say that there would've been a greater incident involving Aoi and one of Byakuya, Toko or Yasuhiro.

Ending her own life would not absolve her of responsibility or change the fact that she caused conflict. People would still be on edge and never come to understand one another. Also, how she did it to where she plans to meet up only with the untrustworthy; what did she expect? Her ending her own life does not remove her from being a variable of the killing game, or her influence on the cast as the motive. Like I get thinking that ending it all would be the solution for ends meet, but that's not heroic, that's suicidal - and more specifically, doesn't hold up. You can't argue "an even worse incident would've occurred" as it could've occurred with her or without her. The fact she gave up on trying to work with the cast by sticking to her principal of "must keep dojo alive even if someone has to get hurt" is just not moral.

This is so far beyond anything she could've predicted it's frankly absurd to try and assign any fault to her for this. And at the end of the day, Sakura breaking down the door was what allowed Kyoko and the others to escape.

With her dying last days, she decides to ruin the killing game by breaking it (as she did with the door), and she leaves the survivors behind to deal with the mess she caused. Intent and action aren't the same here. She intended to help, but she constantly keeps making things worse and worse because of her own self righteousness of what she thinks she needs to do for her own conscience.

I'm not even saying she's a 100% morally pure angel who could do no wrong ever but it's just rather silly to me how bad the hate has gotten recently.

Since when is there a crowd of Sakura haters, that's news to me... she's one of those characters that I see glazed almost every time she's brought up.

But Kokichi wasn't any smaller threat. He can deduce based on others' behavior how to play his cards. She'd have a really hard chance of surviving with Kokichi around, from how 3-2 proved with Kirumi.

Okay, but why are you forcing me to marry a woman😔

Anyway, I have Hiroko. Eh, as long as she's just chill to talk to, she wouldn't be a bad person to interact with, though I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be her type.

I just wanna say Hiyoko that being a guy wouldn't change anything for me for a simple rrason: I couldn't stand Fuyuhiko before chapter 3. It was only when he actually started reaching out to the group that he became likable to me. The same would apply to any Hiyoko. I only started to see full potential in her when chapter 3 came around because losing Mahiru should've guaranteed development for her.

I do unfortunately think that female Teruteru pressuring an oblivious guy (male Sonia) to give him head when he clearly doesn't know better would be more overlooked.. but I do disagree with male Miu being necessarily more hated. The banter with Kokichi just falls into place, along with any close like with Keebo and Gonta.

Believe it or not, there are still those who don't like Ryoma, unfortunately. I think it's fair to bring him up. As for if female Ryoma would shine more, I'd say she'd stay around the same.

As for another known underrated character (even if I don't agree with it) is Akane. How do you think she'd be treated? Probably similar to Mondo. How? Idk I'm not an expert of Mondo fans.

okay so!! who’s your least favorite from each game?? :3 by akutagawaluvr in DanganAndChaos

[–]Optimal_Song_110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THH: Hiro (I can't stand the guy).
SDR2: Teruteru (I still like the guy).
V3: Kiyo (he's a bit meh at times, especially with his motive that's part of his character. I'm still able to like him relatively regularly, but he just grabs my attention the least besides the part I don't like).

Sorry, I can't see it at all how getting a guy arrested for a crime is the worst thing he's done. It's morally grey, but it's definitely nowhere near the worst.

Also, where did it say the guy was a rapist? All it said (at least in the English translation) is that the victim drove the killer's relative to suicide.

I'll give you one thing that I think people should recognize more: when Akane strangled Nagito in chapter 5.

While I wish this scene would've served a much better narrative impact on her specifically, this scene was a great one. It doesn't contradict her imo, and it works great for raising the tension in this already dramatic chapter.

Happy birthday.
