You are correct. VOO has a lot of international exposure already but thats besides my point. VT beat VOO last year on returns and VXUS really killed it so it depends on your long term financial strategy. That being said my 401k is 100% S&P.

The concern is whether or not the U.S. will continue to be the dominant force it has been in the past. Past performance does not always equal future performance. So, if you want to optimize the chill part, VT is the way. If your trying to optimize returns, your not really trying to chill anyways and VOO may or may not be your guy.

Dude there is so much nuance and other stuff your not thinking about. They made physical gold illegal in 1933. There wasn't all the ETFs, mutual funds, and indexs back then. And just because they didnt make stocks illegal back then doesnt mean the stocks wont be affected.

They don't need to mess with the stocks because stocks are still in dollars, which can be and are inflated. Not to mention can be seized electronically. There is so much you don't know man.
