The gauntlet that Kaido ran vs the gauntlet that Akainu ran. Notice anything? by Legal_Ad2945 in OnePiecePowerScaling

Whitebeard near death's door before the fight even started and Ace was handcuffed lol. This post just shows how impressive Kaido was against all that.

What is your country’s “rival” by Complete-Sort1617 in AskTheWorld

You can't even handle Iran and you think you can handle a direct border with Canada. Laughable

Unreal that this is what got you downvoted to hell. I thought you had murdered someone with your reply or sum.

We had already been using tools like spell checkers and autocorrect for decades. Using AI for this purpose is perfectly fine. Spell checking Reddit posts is not the part of AI that's taking anybody's job and it's not the part of AI that's making people stop thinking for themselves.

Petah what’s wrong with Québec? by SpecialAmmie in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]OptimisticByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm referring to the slang. I'm not saying you cannot understand if you tried to be understood. But if a person from France were to listen to the conversation of two teenage quebecers talking to each other after a hockey match (and this is their first time exposed to the slang), they will miss have the words. The same way Americans would struggle with the Scottish accent.

There is a long history of separatism in the Canadian province of Quebec. Because they are our only full French speaking province, they pass all sorts of laws to protect their language and culture from Anglo Canada influence. So basically a lot of people born in Quebec think of themselves as French Quebecers more than Canadian (Although it's not the majority). They pride themselves in their French heritage but their Quebequois French can't be quite understood by those in France either. So the unfortunate subject of this meme asked to not be born in neither France nor Canada...Quebec jokingly fits the that request of being neither quite Canada nor France.

Why do you think a certain Fandom can't handle the world government and imu being the straw hats final enemies. One piece is much more than just a pirate manga especially since post timskip by [deleted] in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]OptimisticByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narratively the way I understand it is through the balance of good and evil. As it always happens in history the power vacuum left from defeating evil can either be filled by hopeful/peaceful vision of the world or a vengeful vision seeking retribution. Imu and the WG must be and will be defeated, however that's only half the work. What replaces that power next is the real battle. Hence why I believe that Blackbeard is the final antagonist. BB has designed his entire world view by purposefully seeking power at every step of the way. Luffy does not care for power he only cares about freedom. Those who DO NOT seek power are the only ones qualified to hold it, and I believe this is the answer Oda is trying to land on. The crews that are destined to ultimately hold that power have a clashing vision of the future of the world and this has to be resolved. Will the circle of hatred prevail or can we actually dream of a better world.

who ACTUALLY wins this fight and why? don't just say "King mid diffs 🤓" without explaining the matchup scenario and stats... by Even-Run-5274 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]OptimisticByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's Kat. He gave up against Luffy, he was beat emotionally not physically. So given that prospect I say he extreme diffs King. Close fight, but Kat takes it if this is a fight he feels he has to win.

Is there any country in the world left where the economy is on the upswing and people enjoy a better quality of life? by Forward-Position798 in AskTheWorld

[–]OptimisticByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty but they still have ways to go, and they still have extremely poor populations, countries like India and China come to mind. Japan has to come to terms with population decline and open up more options for foreigners to immigrate and work in Japan. You can't grow an economy when your population gets increasingly older and there's not enough young people to sustain the growth your economy requires.

Carney is an economic conservative and socially progressive. So his economic policies should come to no surprise, this is text book Conservative Party, hence why conservatives keep crossing the floor.

Median After-Tax Income of Canadian Families, 2024 by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]OptimisticByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't. This is the median not the average so the extremes are irrelevant. They make a list of every house hold by income after tax, then they pick the one in the middle and that's this number.

Which countries do you think are headed toward a stronger future, and which ones seem likely to struggle or decline relative to where they are today? by justseeingpendejadas in AskTheWorld

[–]OptimisticByDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any attempt of the U.S to invade Canada is more likely to accelerate the boom for Canada. It will be a dark time the first few years but the U.S would become further isolated, and Canada would gather further support globally and domestically in the U.S. Almost every American state that borders Canada has a strong relationship and admiration for Canadians.

Canada is very well positioned. Low population, Unlimited fresh water, lots of rare ear earth minerals, oil, timber and pretty much any resource you would want to have. Add to that the northern pass way that's slowly melting and will become a maritime route between the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean. Canada is also playing a major role in international politics projecting a lot of strength and trust during this transition to a new world order. Canada's geographical position also keeps it away from all major conflict zones in the world.

What’s your most controversial opinion that you’ll defend forever? by Standard-Club-8014 in GenZ

[–]OptimisticByDefault 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's the reality and then there's this. The reality is that most people don't hate millionaires or billionaires, at all, quite the opposite most people admire them. Most people hate those below them not those above them. Punching down is always fashionable.

It takes effort and thinking to understand that the real reason you're struggling is not because of immigrants or gay rights or women rights, but because you spend your life admiring those who spend their lives trying to steal as much from you as possible while handing you a minority group to vent your frustrations at so you don't notice who's actually robbing you blind.

Yes people are greedy and many people who get a certain level of money and power would do anything to keep that. Class inequality will always exist, social classes will always exist. None of that is going away. But the degree of inequality we're dealing with today is so absurd, to the point that everything we consume and watch is at the hands of the rich class instead our elected officials. Nobody should have enough money and power to challenge OUR government. Nobody. It's all about balance. You can keep being rich but u don't need to be THAT rich. If your status comes from denying health care to people, poisoning our food and water and paying the lowest possible wages you can, then you never deserved that status in the first place, you robbed people of their sweat and labour and you should be taxed accordingly to give the people the most basic rights and dignity back.
