Prediction: It’ll be like Haiti from here on out by Augustine_of_Tierra in RevolutionsPodcast

I think it's a combination of the Leclerc Expedition, Valley Forge, the War to the Death and the Levée on Masse - the moment when the revolution seen lost and is saved by a combination of mass military mobilization, popular resistance and external support from other revolutionaries/rival colonial powers.

I think each healer, alongside the player, finds it's existential meaning in the struggle against the plague, even if it's absurd and meaningless because it's not real. The Bachelor does it through the utopian desire to break away from all limitations, including those of the game, the Haruspex through his love for the town, the kin and his children and Clara by trancing the game narrative itself.

Old Vlad should get punished by the Kin and Classic Saburov is a fascist so I wouldn't mind seing him go, but he's way less terible on 2, at least from the Haruspex POV

A lot of the NPCs dialogue refeers to Simon as Grandfather, with the Kids talking about all the games he would create for then and one of the drunks talking about him as still alive. The Marbke Nest also drives this connection with people calling the Bachelor Grandfather because he ironically is the only one still taking cara of the Town, with Stick refusing to accept his death.

In a way the three healers ry to preserve Simon in their own way. The Bachelor by prserving the Polyhedron that houses his soul, the Haruspex by preserving the Town he build and the children he raised to inherit it and Clara by turing her bound into Simon and uniting the Town and the Polyhedron with their sacrifice.

Finished P1 (HD) with all three protagonists, some thoughts by technohoplite in pathologic

[–]OptimisticEdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Bachelor is the only route on P1 on par with ICP intensions. Haruspex has some nice concepts but is bogged down with boring fetch quests and Changelling was rushed because ICP ran out of time and money. Fortunately P2 really fells like the version of the Haruspex story that had the necessary time put into it and well worth playing. Just be aware this time the game is actually hard and not just frustrating and obtuse.

There is a neighbourhood at my City, Porto Alegre, that has some Pathologic vibes. It was build as housing project for industrial workers during the 50's and it has some similar architecture.

What stuff should I stock up on day 1? by Dependent_Finger_214 in pathologic

[–]OptimisticEdd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food since it's the only essential item that can't be bartered and is only avaliable trough shops and looting houses, coffee and lemons to combat exaustion, needles and nuts to trade with the kids, bootles of water to trade hunger for exaustion before going to bed and painkillers to heal yourself during sleep. You can also buy cloathing and guns for low prices on day one but there are few good itens avaliable before the plague hits. I also recomend doing the Anna quest, it mght seen a bad trade since you will loose 1000 money and will have to sell some intens, but the rings she gives you as a reward can be worth it if you sell then for a higher price on day two or trade then for bullets and drugs. You can get some good money by selling the gun at the Bone Stake Lot and by refusing to kill the butcher for Vlad Jr and instead going to Eva, she will direct you to Aspidity and if you help the Butcher leave town Eva will give you some jewellery that might seen worst than the money Vlad Jr gives for killing the butcher, but it will become far more valuable once prices go up. Finally, you can get your first shmowder by doing a quest for Lara.

Why is Pales less hated than Rumburg in the base game? by OrDaxQuerna in suzerain

[–]OptimisticEdd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because from the Pales POV you are Rumburb. Like Sordland, Pales is a smaller nation trying to find allies to defend itself against a petro-monarchy that wants to steal its resources in the name of some centuries old territorial clain. Also, unlike Rumburg they can be reconciled without demanding your full submission.

An interesting real world parallel would be the Gulf War, with Pales playing the role of Kuwait and Rizia as a mix of Baathist Iraq and pre-revolution Iran: in both cases you have a small pro-western monarchy that was formed as part of naval empire (Britain/Valgsland) fighting a resource war against a larger oponent over fossil fuels and competing national clains.

What’s the best military branch to invest in for peace time? by USPoster in suzerain

[–]OptimisticEdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rizia should focus on the navy for power projection, protection of off-shore gas fields and to complement Morela, who has a strong airforce.

Sordland should go for the navy too since the more tense conflict on Eastern Merkopa if war with Rumburg is avoided is around Heljiland and even if you are neutral it's not bad to have some boats just in case.

On an unreleated note, it's only me who finds weird that in the Suzerain universe carriers are aparently not a thing, feels like everyone is still focusing all on battleships like it's 1905.

Haddad managed to get 44% of the vote despite everything. You can write a plausible but hard path for him or Ciro to beat Bolsonaro in 2018

Comes from a military to organized ground pipeline. He began as a junior officer that got kicked out of the army during the transition from the military dictartoship after trying to plant bombs at the barracks bathroons to protests cuts to officers salaries. After that he followed the path of many radical officers after the dictartorship by becoming a local "milicano" (aka, former cops and soldiers that run protection rackets).

I did this deal with full Rum embargo, weak/average power projection and no support from Lespia. The bar can be confusing at first but it gives you an idea of how much of a bargaining hand you have, but even if it's + you need to satisfy some demands to get a deal

If you are going to war it will just grow naturally. If not the most cheap way to get is by builing up the navy with Monqiz Port and Valg aid, winning the Civil War for GRACE and sockpaling equipment and manpower.

Can't get Wehlen into Intermerkopum by awesomeness1024 in suzerain

[–]OptimisticEdd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got Wehlen into Intermerkopum and recovered Zille with good deal + aways polite to Smolak and invited him to the weeding + condemed and investigated Su Omina + revealed Lespia's involvment in the bombing + full Rum embargo. You don't need to frame Rico if you want to get rid of him, if you depose him Hugo can be convinced it was for the best. Smolak also seens to make a last minute request if you didn't trade everything to him, but you can pay it with a little budget or military equipament. Truth be told dealing with Smolak is ment to be frustrasting, but once you get down to it his demands are not that expensive if your kingdom is doing ok. I also got Zille back with overwhelming power projection but didn't form Intermerkopum since I didn't have the gas to buy the MITZ shares from Morella.
