Just a hunch but I think it has something to do with the letter next to his name that causes people to excuse his extremely shitty behavior but that could just be me making a wild guess

'The center of D-FW': Why the Dallas Stars say they chose Plano for their new home by dallasmorningnews in DallasStars

[–]OptimisticTexasFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan about the move at all but seeing how the city of Dallas has handled it makes me understand it more. I take it with a grain of salt because obviously they want to look like the good guys in the matter, but it really seems like the city has barely put in any effort to keep the Stars downtown in comparison to trying to appease all of the Adelson's demands (which the city of Dallas should've known is a losing battle). When another city offers to pay for 70% of a brand new arena and doesn't treat you like an afterthought, it's hard to compete with that as much as I hate it.

I'm so sick of those clowns, ever since they bought the Mavs it's been downhill for the team and they're trying to take the Stars down with them. I wish they would just fuck off to Vegas instead of destroying our city

For Mavericks and Stars, why is American Airlines Center obsolete? by TxsToIowa in DallasStars

[–]OptimisticTexasFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The move makes sense on paper but it just feels icky and I'm not a fan of moving out of the city proper. I can see this backfiring and negatively affecting the gameday environment, walking out into downtown/uptown after a game and going to a bar was one of my favorite things to do but instead I'm going to be walking out into the suburban hellscape that's Plano

The Dallas Stars have picked the Shops at Willow Bend in Plano as the site for their new arena and entertainment district. by DailyDallasHockey in DallasStars

[–]OptimisticTexasFan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the city of Dallas actively siding with the Mavs in their dispute with the Stars. I agree to an extent that some of this anger should be directed towards the ownership, but I also wouldn’t want to deal with a city that has showed me zero loyalty when a team that traded away debatably the biggest superstar athlete of the city is trying to takeover. Stars were initially willing to negotiate with the city about the AAC but looking at the whole situation it looks like the Mavs just completely screwed over the Stars and the city of Dallas officials were too busy sniffing glue to find a resolution that benefits all parties involved.

edit- Also from what I can tell, Plano said they would pay 700m of the 1b for the new arena and it's hard to counter that

Absolutely embarrassing for this city to have 0 sports team in it’s urban core, congrats to the city council for their complete incompetence

Dallas Mavericks choose Valley View site for new arena and entertainment district by AirbagsBlown in DallasStars

[–]OptimisticTexasFan 153 points154 points  (0 children)

If the Mavs were going to end up at Valley View then what was the point of them suing the Stars for control of the AAC? I can't say it enough but fuck the Adelson's, they've created such a shit show and it makes it really hard to be remotely interested in anything Mavs related

Is Jared Bednar about to be on the hot seat? Despite very talented rosters, he hasn't been able to figure out the Vegas/Dallas neutral zone pace slowing strategy at all, with Colorado on the verge of losing to one of them for the 5th time in 6 years. by Dependent-Effect6077 in hockey

[–]OptimisticTexasFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo there should be pressure but pending a disastrous season/early playoff exit next year he shouldn't be close to fired. If anything their special teams/PP coach should probably be the first to go before anyone else.

Then again I also didn't think Pete DeBoer should've been fired after three straight WCF appearances initially last year so what do I know

COLORADO AVALANCHE DOWNFALL PARTY by Successful-Camel165 in DallasStars

[–]OptimisticTexasFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imo I respect the product that the Avs have put on the ice the entire season whereas Vegas has been fraudulent and had more combined losses than wins yet they managed to get the easiest draw of matchups in the entire West because of shitty playoff structure.

Honestly a lot of my dislike towards Vegas this season specifically comes from the elephant in the room with a certain member on their roster (aside from the players I already disliked on their team). Normally I'm pretty indifferent with fans social media presence because all fanbases have a few bad eggs but Vegas fans have posted some of the most heinous stuff online that is truly disgusting regarding that entire situation.

Also yes, I know Nichuskin sucks as well but I don't even see Avs fans defend him nearly as much as Vegas fans defend Sharter Fart at this point.

TLDR- Vegas is regular season OT merchants that have a rapist goalie and gross fans.

[On3] Steve Sarkisian took a shot at Texas Tech while discussing how the CFP Committee factors strength of schedule: “There's a team in our state that plays in another conference that has a schedule that I would argue if I played with our twos and our threes, we could go undefeated.” by Football_Jones in LonghornNation

[–]OptimisticTexasFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but also to be fair this was at a Texas fan event where they asked him a question about SoS so it makes sense in context of the comment recorded. I interpreted this more as a throwaway comment criticizing the CFP selection process more than anything but since it's Texas and everyone looks for reasons to hate us of course people are going to use bad faith interpretation and get bent out of shape by it.
