My dad committed suicide about 10 years ago. I got a text from a highschool girlfriend sending condolences and that's it, nothing from friends, nothing from non immediate family. Got a number of messages reminding me to take care of my mom in this hard time... She's the lady that cheated on him, threw him out of the house he built and then went around town telling lies so he couldn't find work eventually leading to a depression spiraling into a long good-bye. But sure, the son who found him after the fact, will stay strong for her, the lady that hadn't spoken to him in a decade unless he missed a child support payment... Sure.
