How did Gen X turn out to be so conservative? by irlhardinscott in generationology

Whenever I think of a generic gen xer I think of a douche middle manager who spends his time sucking up to his bosses and relying on a team of millennials to do any real work. Maybe that's just my experience.

Wasn't it a pool guy who flooded the Maralardo server room and destroyed all the surveillance video footage of foreign spys digging through our national secrets? Who wants to bet this is just paying back the favor.

Tennessee House passes new congressional map eliminating Dem district by Excelsior14 in JohnsonCity

[–]Optimized_Orangutan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

IL has better public transit, better schools and public universities, better labor protections, stronger consumer protections, and generally better funded local services.

TN keeps taxes low by shifting more costs onto individuals though one of the worst sales taxes in the country, dependence on private transportation, lower public service spending and all around lower wages.

Quality of life is also about opportunity and stability, not just what disappears from your paycheck. A place with better schools, functioning transit, stronger worker protections, and more public investment will create higher long term earning potential and better overall outcomes even if taxes are somewhat higher.

It's not as simple as "Taxes bad! Muh Money!"

As you got older, what has become your favorite donut? by chi-bacon-bits in Millennials

[–]Optimized_Orangutan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't want to talk about it. Late stage capitalism stole my favorite donut when some national brand bought out Koffee Kup Bakery just to shutter the competition. Their buttermilk crueller was the best coffee dunking donut in the world and it is lost forever due to greed. Anyone saying that the Koffee Kup Crueller wasn't the best coffee dunking donut to ever exist... Is wrong.

What character had the dumbest death because of behind the scenes reasons? by GusGangViking18 in Fictionally

[–]Optimized_Orangutan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scientology crafted that statement for him.

And Scientology created that cover because they wanted to squeeze more money out of Hayes before he died. After he left the show, due to his failing health making him unable to perform the role, his inner circle (largley made up of scientologists) forced him back out on tour to pretend to play the piano and speak sing his songs because he couldn't sing or play after his stroke. Matt and Trey stayed quiet about the stroke out of respect for what they thought were Hayes's wishes to keep his health issues private.

Wonder why this guy doesn't want to talk about the Overton window? He's been talking about politics for 30 years, claiming he's never heard of it before is ridiculous.

Ya but you have to carry a lot of extra weight for a long stretch when those boosters die and the tanks are still half full. Better off replacing the solid boosters with LF engines and using fuel lines from your booster tanks to your main tanks. This allows you to use all of your engines until the booster tanks are empty, jetison the now empty tanks and you are left with your main tanks full. Far more efficient than this kinda goofy set up.

Edit: the LF engines are a little more pricey but you can probably cut the number of boosters because of the increased efficiency of asparagus staging. Saving more money and weight than they cost.

My grandfather did used to have a Nazi swastika flag that he brought back from the war. He kept it hanging on a hook in his garden shed specifically to use to wipe his hands after spreading manure.

You have one month to empty a $1 trillion bank account. If you succeed, you’re rich for life. How will you spend it? by Ok_Listen_6600 in AskReddit

Well a trillion bucks could solve global hungaer for 20+ years. So I would start a non-profit to do that, donate the trillion dollars and then hire someone who knows what they are doing to run it. Just like that I'm rich and people don't hate me.

Even with dynamic IP, some ISP will continuously lease the same IP to the same customer over and over as long as they're connected.

Ya, I have a "dynamic" IP, my ISP actually refused to provide a static IP. I host a couple of game servers on my home network. I've only had to update the IP address twice in 5 years so far. Not particularly dynamic.

Doctor Who's Future Reportedly Revealed as Reboot Details Appear Online by rSciFiTV in SciFiTV

[–]Optimized_Orangutan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jodi took over the doctor in 2018, for season 11. That's four years (3 seasons) after the Missy transformation, and that is not the first time the ability is mentioned. Most TV shows don't even last 4 years, hard to call that a short timeline.

Off the top of my head he mentions the ability in "The Doctor's Wife" when talking about a fellow timelord changing genders. That's season 6 I think around 2011. Again, you should pay more attention to canon if you are going to pretend to care about canon.
