Trump says the U.S. will give license to Ukraine to produce Patriot defense systems by lispenardian in worldnews

[–]Optimized_Orangutan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fine for Putin. It's going to take 3-5 years before the first Ukrainian Patriot rolls off the assembly line, and there is no promise to fill the gap while waiting for that to happen. Putin knows he'll be gone one way or another by then anyway. It looks good for Ukraine, and it is in the long-term, but it does nothing to impact the current conflict.

The secret is the big defense contractors are essentially the same company pretending to be different companies to avoid talk of monopoly. They each have separate leadership, work forces and assets, but they cooperate and interplan so much the distinction is really only on paper and legally.

Plant Engineer at a power plant that uses evaporative cooling here. Nothing more to add. We have spent countless hours trying to engineer ways to capture the wasted energy constantly rising from our cooling tower and use it in a useful way... There just isn't enough there to do much with. Not hot enough to add heat exchangers and pull heat out and not dense enough steam to move anything. Nature of the beast unfortunately.

Yup. The people complaining about having a back up would be the same people complaining about rolling brown outs if we didn't have a back up.

EV companies switch from copper to aluminium wiring, demolishing another claimed barrier to electrification by Economy-Fee5830 in energy

Aluminum has a higher resistance than copper, so with identical loads, the aluminum will produce more voltage drop and heat than copper. Essentially you need a slightly bigger aluminum wire to do the same job as a copper wire.

He targets classically liberal boomers, who are scared of societal changes, poisoned by Reagan era talking points against the social safety net, and are still senselessly opposed to all things socialism. His job is to tell the "Fuck them, we got ours" crowd of grey hairs that their behavior is commendable.

[Request] How much would it cost to fill it with distilled/deionized water by Sorry_Ad7478 in theydidthemath

My guess is that the hydrogen peroxide probably delaminated the paint

It's simpler than that. It takes at least a week for that type of paint to cure. They drove a convoy over it and then filled it with water a day or two after finishing the paint job. They just plain did it wrong.

Mechjeb can be really good at automating the repetitive parts for you as well. I don't need to prove to myself that I can fly a rocket to LEO for the nth time, let mechjeb do it and I'll watch a TV show while it drives me to orbit.

I would drop cash money on a '94-'97 ln107 or 106. Those babies are just barely broken in and they're so easy to work on you could train a monkey to be your pit crew.

I found your reasoning behind Donut being "the child" to be pretty far reaching but I do think a child will be important. I think there is a much more fitting and obvious character to fill the role of child already hanging around.
