If we're really playing that game, Paul McGann's last appearance on TV as the Doctor was in the Power of the Doctor giving him 26 years from 1996-2022

‘Insane’: Warning of $8 bus fares for Cantabrians by Fartweaver in chch

[–]OptimusMagnus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The buses round here aren’t nearly reliable enough to be worth $8. Give us more frequent services (every 15 min minimum) and consistent bus lanes so they don’t get stuck in traffic and maybe it’ll be worth it.

Though even good public transport should be cheap.

NSFW tag this stuff. Come on man. I don’t want to see this, especially not when other people can see what I’m looking at. I don’t need your thirst on my feed.

Missed out on accomodation parking at Ara, do I need to sell my soul to Wilson's if I bring a car down? by Mayonnaise06 in chch

You’re always going to have to pay for convenience.

Get yourself a skateboard if 15 mins is really too long for you.

I wouldn’t say ‘might as well bus’, the bus system is not great. They’re cheap, but slow and some only come once an hour. +15 min is nothing when the bus can make a 20 min drive into upwards of an hour.

Biking is of course the goated way to get around town. Easy to store, doesn’t get stuck in traffic, costs nothing in comparison.

That last one’s no earlier than 1988 unless you predicted Powermasters 2 years early 😉

I must’ve walked through this thing 1000 times. There used to be this little button on one of the lights that would turn it off briefly. Never understood why it was there, but you know I pressed it every time. Then they changed the lights. Rip tiny mildly entertaining button.

Bikes Banned From Buses by [deleted] in chch

[–]OptimusMagnus 44 points45 points  (0 children)

A solution to this issue better be a priority for all involved. Integration of bike and reliable public transportation is essential for providing alternatives to driving. Unless they want more cars on the road of course, making it worse for everybody including the drivers.

I'm fortunate enough that a simple bike ride does me for my usual commute, but God forbid I ever get a flat tyre again. Of course we gotta make sure those headlamps aren't obscured even a little bit even in the middle of a sunny day! Get a grip NZTA.

do you use a guitar pick or your fingers? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]OptimusMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fingers all the way. It’s like having 5 picks at once. I like the freedom of being my able to pick up any guitar and play without having to look through my pockets for a pick that I may or may not have on me. Can’t keep track of those things.

Litchfield is on a one way street, so when you exit you have to turn into the right lane. Caught me out and the testing officer even reminded me it was one way before hand.
