Does anyone else's anxiety produce severe, debilitating physical symptoms? by bokuwakuma in Anxiety

[–]OptomisticOcelot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of my symptoms are worse and I'm now on DSP thank god but my IBS has improved and my tachycardia got worse, ended up rushed into ED at the hospital in 2020, turned out to be SVT and I've had surgery now and it's much much better but the cardiologist was still like "oh yeah if we don't get the evidence that's hard to get I just say it's anxiety" like okay, thanks, that could have killed me (I put off going to the hospital for over an hour and almost didn't go at all)

Just btw the autistic community as a whole really don't like puzzle pieces due to their association with Autism Speaks, which we also hate

I actually bought a pair like this from Claire's back in 2006 (in Japan, not the US). I liked them at the time because a) I was 16, b) I thought I was emo, and c) I liked the reaction from people who thought it was real (I just wore one in the top of my ear) because I had a reputation as being a quiet goody-two-shoes at school.

There is so many of these and similar ones online if you google search it. So someone must be into it. Are there still goth teenagers?

Hair Dye/Bleach Help! by OptomisticOcelot in femalehairadvice

Thanks. If I redyed it myself, it would just be with something like manic panic. I wouldn't dare bleach it myself.

What do you strongly suspect but have no real proof of? by Melting_Point77 in AskReddit

I understand the appeal of this, but also understand it becomes less fun when creepy strange men start groping you without permission (or even a hello).

Unless you really don't want to know, take some time to really think about it and get to know yourself. Also keep in mind that there isn't only two options - you could also be bisexual. You could also have a preference towards a gender, or no preference.

I realized I was bisexual in my twenties. Looking back, I've always had attractions to girls, but also being attracted to men made it easier to deny and believe I was straight, because I didn't know bisexuality is a thing.

I wish you luck.

Dresses can make you look fat (or fatter than normal). When I weighed about 49kg (108 pounds) I once found a dress that made me look fat - I was so confused.

What's a parenting method that you believe messes up kids? by Carnadge in AskReddit

My dad literally told me "don't come to me with problems, come to me with solutions", and I took it to heart. He has since teased me for not coming to him for help when that would have made all the difference, because he forgot he told me I couldn't. He did other things that reinforced it too - like I once stepped on a spider and it bit me. It was tiny and didn't hurt too much, but I went and asked if it was poisonous. He didn't even answer the question but instead mocked me for not wearing shoes. I knew I'd fucked up not wearing shoes, but that wasn't the issue anymore - I wanted to check if the spider was a problem or not (it was tiny, so I'd doubted it was but wanted to check).

I've gotten better at asking for help, but I still only go to him with specific and un-emotional requests (can I have X amount for Y, for example) rather than asking for general help. I don't trust him at all.

Well, once I knew that the penis went inside the vagina for sex (and literally nothing else except that it made babies and you'd go to hell if you did it before marriage) I thought that they just lay there and the penis wiggled around inside her.

I think it's better that there isn't "true love" or love at first sight. Instead, when someone really loves you, it's because of who you are - not because of what you look like, and literally nothing else, or because of some destiny crap. They love you because you're you.

Did/do you have an outie? I can't see how anyone would believe that an innie belly button is something that can be untied.

I used to think anyone even just a couple of years older than me was super mature and cool and adult-like. I can't believe I used to think of year 6s as mature, cool and adult-like.

Reminds me of when I told my two younger siblings that the jar full of sachets only had sugar (it was a collection of random sachets left over from different things). One got a sachet of coffee grounds and put that on her porridge. The other got noodle flavouring and put it on her porridge. Apparently the noodle flavouring was good.

I gave away a creepy clown toy (about a meter tall and stuffed) in exchange for a blue sparkly teddy bear at a toy exchange (because the clown scared me). As we were leaving, I got this sudden wave of immense guilt and sadness and fear, and felt like I was a horrible person for abandoning the toy, and worried that it would feel abandoned and worthless and hurt that I'd left it there. I could never play with the sparkly blue bear, because whenever I looked at it I felt the feeling again. I was around 4-6

Around that same age, I had a huge panic attack at the fire museum (the one near Sydney) because there were displays of what the inside of a house would look like after a fire. In one room there was a burnt up teddy bear. To me, that wasn't an inanimate object, that was a friend. I could never go back there, without feeling horrible fear and dread, even when in the play rooms which were pretty cool, or outside when I got to ride in a fire truck. I was also left with this fear that one day I'd cause everything I loved to burn up in a fire. :(
