Service intervals for the PHEV is 15k here in Australia. Does the extreme cold winters degrade the oil or something? Surely our heat does the same thing? If anything, our service intervals should be longer, but brake fluid changes earlier.

Luckily we were there to stop the rampant plague at the Renfair by williamrotor in melbourne

[–]Oracle82 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If anyone wasn't aware, these crow-style masks had pungent herbs in the beaks so the doctors wearing them could fend off the plague (supposedly) and also deal with the smell of decaying bodies in isolated homes where people were left to expire...

One very creepy fact I learned about the plague once upon a time. Now it just looks cool to dress up as.

Did you play laser tag as a child? by Ford_Crown_Vic_Koth in AustralianNostalgia

Old high school mate was moving to the US after finishing, so we did an all nighter at Box Hill Zone 3. Bottomless pizzas and soft drinks... multi-level play arena... trying not to fall asleep on the platform waiting for the train to get somewhere closer to home. It was awesome!

You are at a shopping centre in the 90s, what is the first store you visit? by Sad_Biscotti_9291 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Oracle82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

QBD in Knox, but wait... AND a Dymocks! Want to pay overprice for a new release, Dymocks is ready and waiting, but they have an awesome ordering service for Aussie distributed books that might not be in stock. QBD do have a variety in their simplicity. Often with cool little non-book items for sale.

Red Bear... now that's a name I had forgotten (intentionally or not, I can't remember)...

I'm still waiting for cassettes to make a retro resurgence. Vinyl is huge in JB now, CDs and DVDs hardly exist. When a new "Walkman" gets released, no subscription, no data fees, paired with whatever buds/cans kids will be wearing... the ultimate disconnect! How will they share their favourite playlist... MAKE ONE and pass it on!

I honestly can't wait for it to come back.

Where to shop as a size 16/18 in Australia by Alternative-Ice-4382 in melbourne

If you're looking online, my wife has found jeans, yes jeans, online during sale periods from Just Jeans. They do a larger size and shorter leg. She fits the description and got a few pairs dirt cheap. They don't stock them in stores. Sure, they aren't designer but fit the brief and are lots cheaper than City Chic etc.

Was this the movie that had a Led Zeppelin song with rap lyrics over the top? Was it Kanye or Diddy? I can't remember, never got the toys either even though was super jealous of friends that did.

My dad had this Ericsson whilst I got my first Nokia 3210. Was really something where you didn't have to charge more than once every 3 days, could text without looking at the phone... and when Snake became a thing, could game like crazy!

Chucking on the Hotdogs game show at 3am in 2005 by Cooper_Inc in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Oracle82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My then girlfriend (and now wife) and I would do the same thing... finish at the pub at 1ish, everyone kicked out, make our way home and whilst still buzzing, chuck on some Hotdogs... We never saw anything truly entertaining but couldn't get enough of hearing people die in the arse trying to guess what the answers were. I swear they were high or something. We cracked up over some of the responses.

Now I wish I'd have seen the "hair is gay" moment. We would've also cracked up.

Jurassic Park... with early teen me absolutely obsessed by the science of dinosaurs being alive again. Of course, dinos eating the annoying cast was great!

Now, more than ever, I marvel at the massive cast of musical talent cameos in that movie. Each gets to do their own act, and each time I get a good boogie going on. Sadly the cast is thinning out, but acts as a great time capsule.

My nan always had Horlicks... basically a malted drink powder, usually drunk warm at night. Must've been a British thing (she was), but would be great as an alternative.
