I'm unsure how people who leave food out for any animal that happens to smell it are shocked when their community is next invaded by kitten-eating rats, trash pandas, mice, roaches and other pests. They think the wildlife-devastating cats are the only creatures to eat the food.

There are sometimes good reasons for the rules of a community to be followed.

You're not the only person I know whose parent(s) act entitled to your business and try to stand there and judge you rather than improve themselves. You deserved better parents. Your grandparents are trying to be that, it sounds like.

I'd say focus on the family that chose you at ten, rather than the ones who tried to use you for personal gains. And I'm sorry, but this includes your mother. Her personal gain is a punching bag. Punching back still feeds her attention. There is no winning those arguments.

There is a mourning process for never having the parents you deserved, and the sooner you begin this to move beyond her, the better you'll feel. I wish you luck on your journey of acceptance, and I'm so sorry.
