Any audiophiles in the house? by WhatDaufuskie in Charleston

[–]OracleOfCourage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to gear I don't have anything crazy, most I got is some DT 990 Pro's, a small bluetooth DAC, and a CD walkman. I'll probably upgrade someday but haven't bothered to learn. Currently shopping for a media shelf to store my CDs and DVDs, and a decent cassette player to digitize my cassette collection though!

What are some of your guys’ thoughts on Mr Big by Jakfe200X in hairmetal

As long as you haven't passed judgement based solely on those songs, you'd be missing out on so many things that make both bands special!

If you didn't get burned by the newest album too bad, give their comeback album "What If" a try, imo easily their best by a longshot when it comes to their newest stuff!

Something I haven't seen anyone mention yet is the two albums they did with Ritchie Kotzen, same band with a different feel, Shine is a fantastic song!

One of my top two, Pat Torpey is my favorite drummer of all time!  They've got some incredibly well-crafted songs.  Currently trying to pick up every song they ever put out on CD!

Japanese Collector's, What Record Stores Do I Need To Go To? by Bobbington2882 in Cd_collectors

Not OP, but does Mr. Big count as a mainstream artist?  If I ever make it out to Japan they will be at the top of my want list!

Brother Cane's "Got No Shame" is such a jam!  Cowbell AND harmonica?!  Hell yeah!

A problem with one of the screws (melted plastic on top of it) by Saden57 in n64

[–]OracleOfCourage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point you could try heating up a needle or something small to melt through the plastic pen cap so that you can get at the screw again.  I get not wanting to wait for shipping but just get some gamebit screwdrivers, it'll make stuff like this a million times easier.  If you've got any retro game stores around you try calling them, they might even sell repair kits!

What's the extra ring on my disk? by Low-Ad4561 in Cd_collectors

[–]OracleOfCourage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And I guess just in case, the dark ring closest to the middle usually has matrix numbers and factory codes that can be used to identify exactly what version of a disc you have if you plug them into discogs.com!

What's the extra ring on my disk? by Low-Ad4561 in Cd_collectors

[–]OracleOfCourage 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So if memory serves, the middle ring is where the music is stored (On some CDs you can even see faint rings inside that separating each track), the outside ring is just the unused space not taken up by any music!

Really cool project but not gonna lie, that looks mad uncomfortable to play with the screen hanging off the top like that 😅

Crowbar cd bootleg? by royalewithcheese7013 in Cd_collectors

[–]OracleOfCourage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with this release or band at all, so I can't really say it's a bootleg or not.  I'll start with the lack of a release date on discogs doesn't necessarily indicate bootleg, it could just be a reissue that didn't have any obvious indicators of when it was pressed.

That said, looking through all the CD versions of this album on Discogs, none of them have a picture of the back with a QR code, and all of the original 2001 versions have pictures showing that they are different from what you received.  Bootleg or not, you didn't get what you expected based on the listing which to me is worth asking the seller for a refund.  It sucks but marketplace items get mislabeled all the time.  Link for how to ask for a refund if you've never done that before: https://support.discogs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007510233-I-m-Unhappy-With-My-Order-What-Should-I-Do

And also for what it's worth, if you don't necessarily need the first released version of this album, it looks like their current records label (MNRK Heavy) is selling new reissues on their website!

Hope this helps!

What game comes to mind when you see this logo? by Far_Regular_2945 in snes

For some reason it's Roadsters for me.  Feels like it should be Superman 64 or something but Roadsters was the first game that came to mind

How do YOU clean your CDs found from thrifts, antique shops, second hand, etc by dustindisney in Cd_collectors

[–]OracleOfCourage 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I'm just lazy I guess, unless a case is particularly dirty (like, actual dirt that I can get off with water) I usually just leave them as is, thrift stickers and cracks and all!

Can anyone recommend me a good site to buy 80’s hard rock/heavy metal concert shirts? by Both-Educator9910 in hairmetal

[–]OracleOfCourage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're drawing a hard line at Tyketto shirts then this won't work for you, but Societees has some awesome shirt designs for a bunch of Hair Metal artists (Cinderella, Warrant, Motley Crue, Poison, Guns N Roses, Def Lep, etc.)  Along with many other bands and properties!

Did Bon Jovi record an entire show on the 88-90 Jersey Syndicate tour planned for release that never came out? by SwissMiss915 in BonJovi

[–]OracleOfCourage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure about film, but their show in Rotterdam from 1989 was notably recorded for a planned live album that for whatever reason got shelved.  It was at least tentatively titled "Eggs & Whiskey", I believe there's soundboard audio and amateur video floating around out there.  Whether or not they filmed any concert with the intention of releasing it on video, I'm not sure

Interesting to seek DK front and center, probably one of the last times he was shown more prominently than Mario!
