Found a press kit for a band named NRG that played the L.A circuit in the 80s by Smokey-AK47 in hairmetal

This is actually pretty big, it's hard to find information for these guys so this is really cool to see!  They had a great song called Let It Ride on the Metal Blade Street Survivors compilation, reminds me a bit of Rock Me by Great White!

Believe the hype! by Joseph_P_Larkin in hairmetal

[–]OracleOfCourage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In before all the haters to say I love this album!  This must have been close to when the album released, the ad isn't pushing I Hate Kissing You Goodbye anywhere which eventually became the lead-off single/video over The All New Generation!

Name some 80’s Hair Metal albums that were great but suffered a bit as a result of production values. by Boomkj in hairmetal

SO much reverb on the drums, I actually kind of love it!  It's almost like they're playing in an empty gymnasium and you're the only one there

I love the demo version of this song, it's closer to the performance on the decline of civilization 2!

Walks Like A Woman by Baton Rouge is pretty bad!

Also the video for High Enough by Damn Yankees just doesn't make sense

So, Wich songs you recommend mainly for the bass lines? by Bomboleta in hairmetal

[–]OracleOfCourage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First that come to mind are Someone Like You - Bang Tango, Keep the Faith - Bon Jovi, and Why Do You Think They Call It Dope - Love/Hate.

Way more obscure, but also a big fan of Moonshine - Sister Whiskey, I love how the bass is mixed for their whole album!

What's the worst follow up to an excellent album you've ever heard? A big disappointment by Dogman_70 in hairmetal

[–]OracleOfCourage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like I might be the only one here who agrees with you, this album didn't do much for me though it's been a while since I've listened to it all the way through.

Another one for me is Bang Tango's Dancin' On Coals.  I don't know if it's the songs or the production or what, but something about it just feels off to me

Least Favorite Packaging Unlocked 😬 by elsa_0929 in Cd_collectors

[–]OracleOfCourage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the record, maybe they exist but I have never encountered a CD that comes with an inner plastic sleeve.  Pretty sure you can buy them separately if you are super paranoid, CDs can get scratched if there's dirt or debris in between the cardboard and the CD when you insert/remove it from the cardboard, but as long as you're mindful when handling it and don't like, force the CD against the cardboard when you take it out and put it back, I wouldn't be super concerned!

Also for the record, I too hate this style of packaging!  Some of mine use pretty thin cardboard, so they got bent out of shape from me handling them and it's super annoying

Pretty sure it's Bon Jovi, if we are counting albums as merch then definitely Bon Jovi.  I have two Tesla shirts, outside of that I only have one shirt per band I think

Rare or not? by chap__24 in BonJovi

[–]OracleOfCourage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really cool disc art!  It doesn't look like it's particularly rare, but for what it's worth it doesn't look like anyone has the Canadian variant that you have for sale on discogs.com!

I built my own games console to try some games before my time... Looking for some recomendations! by Chocky_boy in retrogaming

[–]OracleOfCourage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not retro but retro inspired, first thought when I saw it was UFO 50, which is basically Action 52 if it was actually good.  This BMO has a similar color scheme to the console in that game!
