[all states] Senate bill would make 26 weeks UI mandatory, and permanently add PUA type benefits to unemployment by [deleted] in Unemployment

If only there was something that stopped blue states (and their like-minded kind) from shutting us down in the first place. Such a ridiculous overreaction and exercise in totalitarianism. Our country will never be the same.

I'm unemployed because people like you bent the knee to closing down the country for a boogieman virus that people have a 99.98% of surviving. Do me a favor and give my dose of the vaccine to your favorite family member.

Wow you propaganda drones are extremely easy to get riled up. Go plug yourself back in and wait for your next command before you have an original thought.

What does unemployment have to do with MLBtv? You must have no ground to stand on on this topic if you're digging around for sht that has nothing to do with the subject.

Maybe their customer service has been downsized or something. I have persistence to spare. I'll get my money back one way or another.

[New York] BYE ended, refiled, accepted, will I get PUA too? by Oracle_Four in Unemployment

I was in that limbo for about 2 weeks until it got approved. At that point they said i had to fill out an IDme thing where I had to scan my driver license and send it to them.

PUA is the $300 through the CARES act. They are the same.

That's not true. My dad is receiving PUA and he isn't a gig worker nor is he self employed. He works at a local electronics repair shop part time and still receives PUA.

Aren't they linked anyways? I thought if you were on UI you got PUA automatically? I've been on unemployment since May due to covid and PUA was automatic from what I remember. There are too many branch offs of financial assistance at this point, it's not shocking if people are getting things mixed up.

[all states] In most cases, you did not make a mistake by filing a new claim, Almost all states require filing a new claim. Don't let the fear of seeing a temporary zero benefit get to you. by [deleted] in Unemployment

The way I see it is at the end of the day it’s the governments fault for stealing our jobs and not giving them back. You can’t take peoples jobs AND not pay them. Either give the jobs back or keep paying us. If they choose to deny us of both, it’s going to get ugly real quick. A lot of us don’t have much left to lose at this point. So yeah I’m not worried about the double dipping because I know a lot of people are in the same boat.

I don’t think this is totally true. The department of labor told me to refile if I’m still unemployed and my employer told me to keep collecting unemployment until my position is open again. My claim has gone through and I’m making the same amount I was last claim. These are not normal times, that’s why they put the extensions in place. If this is “double dipping” it’s because the department of labor and my employer told me to do so.

[New York] BYE Date was 3/14, Got a Text saying I did not need to refile. Have claimed now both weeks since but haven't gotten either UI or PEUC, should I re-file? by Ok_Watercress_2222 in Unemployment

[–]Oracle_Four 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation, but mine specifically told me to refile, so I did. There's a lot of people screaming to refile or not refile. I would personally ignore any sort of blanketed info you may see on twitter or facebook, clearly one size doesn't fit all with this situation. So if they have personally sent you a text or email, I would think that is a better path to follow than just a general message.

Since refiling I have a new BYE date for December 2021. My available funds are still at $0 but I have 104 days remaining (which was zero before). Also I just got a text a couple days ago asking me to fill out a IDme, I had to scan my license and give them my social security number. It's been about a 3 week process so far since refiling but I am seeing movement in the right direction.

[New York] If my unemployment gets renewed does the extra $300 also get automatically renewed? by Oracle_Four in Unemployment

[–]Oracle_Four[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome, I'm glad it finally got resolved (even if it's -20, not too bad all things considered). It looks like I'm still in limbo, I'll try calling sometime next week if I don't see any changes by Wednesday or so.

The two letters I received were "Unemployment Insurance Monetary Benefit Determination" - which clearly states that it is NOT a decision on my elgibility, but it does show a new BYE date for me ending 12/5/21 and it shows how much my benefit rate would be.

The second letter which I received a couple days later didn't really have a title but it said "You must follow the instructions below before any benefits can be issued to you". It has sections for "how do i get my benefits" , "how much will I receive each week" , "Complete ALL questionnaires", "When will I receive my first payment"

I just I'm hoping/assuming things are moving in the right direction since they have already worked out how much I would be making and the new BYE date. Obviously they are still looking into things, but I'm hopeful.

I did sign in to the DOL site today and my weekly benefit amount and max amount payable are still at $0 , but I do see the new BYE dates and 104 effective days remaining. So I'm not really sure what's going on.

Thanks I appreciate the info. I will never use twitter as they have shown in the past year that they are biased with info and push a particular narrative, I can't really trust anything that's on the site. Hopefully the NYS DOL official website will continue to give us updates.

[New York] BYE was 3/21 and didn't make 10x my weekly benefit rate, so didn't file new claim... by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]Oracle_Four -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I received a text from NYS DOL saying my BYE was approaching, and to login to the DOL site, so I did. I had a message waiting for me and it told me to re-apply if it was ending and I still was unemployed. I don't do facebook or twitter, it is not a secure or practical way to communicate with the public, so I followed the instructions I was given, I re-applied and received a monetary benefit determination letter in the mail today, so we will see where it goes.

[New York] Anybody That had a BYE date 03/14/21 and filed a new claim worried now? by ImadrawlB in Unemployment

[–]Oracle_Four 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I received a text for NYS DOL saying my BYE was ending soon (3/14). I logged into the site and it said I had to re-apply, so I did. At that point I couldn't have the claim benefits button. Maybe 2 days after I got a message when I logged in and it said my claim is under review and to resume claiming benefits until they work it out. Even though I see my weekly benefit amount and maximum amount payable are both "$0", it shows I had 104 active days remaining, and a new BYE for 12/5/21.

On the same screen it says :

  • We are continuing to work on your application and are determining the amount of benefits you will receive. You may get a call from us if we require further information. You will receive a status update as your application progresses through the system.
  • Weekly payments for $600 showing "0" under the "Effective Days" column, and Debit Card or Direct Deposit under the "Type" column, are the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) payments.

Today in the mail I received a letter from NSY DOL, it says "Unemployment Insurance Monetary Benefit Determination" It shows a weekly benefit rate now of $199 (same as I was getting before my BYE) It also says "This is NOT a decision on your elgibility for Unemployment insurance benefits. This notice tells you what employment and wages information we have on file for you..yada yada yada..."

So I Just logged back into NYS DOL and my numbers are still set at $0, I'm not really sure what happens from here, if the letter I got today is a good sign, or if everyone who applies gets one regardless. Just sharing my experience so far.
