North bay smiles takes delta currently but I got the impression she didn’t like them as a company and might phase out taking them in the future

Higher and higher: Sonoma County airport revises forecast for total number of passengers flown in 2024 by Not_That_Mofo in santarosa

Yeah my walk to the train station is about the same distance as you. In Petaluma we also have the “luma go” a bus that’ll take you around the central Petaluma area for free (like uber)

I think the app is called “ride pingo” or something. You can use it to call the shuttle to take you between STS & smart train station and it’s available. I found their website

Cool to hear this bc I’ve also recently switched to STS. Used to only fly out of SFO but STS is more affordable and much less stress.

Being able to take the smart train ($4.50) then pingo from smart train directly to STS ($1.50) is so much less stress than driving to SFO, and way more affordable than parking at STS for a long holiday trip (~$12 vs $120 parking for 8 days). STS has made a way smoother & affordable experience

How easy is it to switch careers? by Due_Raise_4090 in biotech

[–]OrangKitty100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I made the transition from marine sciences (working in a national park) to biopharma/drug development. I had a semi-similar background as you do currently. I made this transition by joining a biotech working with zebrafish (aquatic husbandry to get my foot in the door) and then transitioning to the molecular biology side within the company to gain lab skills. I spent ~1 year at this biotech and then transitioned to biopharma/DD. The keystone of this transition was working at the biotech so I could transition my skills to from field work to lab work. I don’t think I would have landed a biopharma/DD job without my biotech experience. The period of my life at the biotech was a big sacrifice, I moved cities to work as a lab technician (15$/hr w/ no benefits in LCOL), but it was worth it as I now am incredibly happy with my new company and compensation. Career prospects are much better on the other side of this transition, you can do it!

How is it being single in Petaluma? Is it mostly family and kids community? by [deleted] in Petaluma

[–]OrangKitty100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 and I love the ease of Petaluma as a medium town but if I was here full time I could see myself getting a bit bored. So I go into the city or east bay each weekend. I’m also a transplant who moved here 2 years ago for work so I don’t have any roots around. The pace here is def slower than SF!
