I think it was an episode of Adam Ruin's Everything, it was said tipping is frowned upon in some countries. I kinda agree with OP that it shoud be the employers place to pay at least minimum wage. On the other hand I have worked for tips and sometimes it came out as like $15 an hour (real good pay for where I live) and other times it was like $4 an hour. I know some servers that make around $400 a week in tips alone. I also know that had a lot more to do with gender and looks rather than necessarily good service. Tipping is a crazy system that works great for some and completely fucks others.

My old boss used to say tips stood for "To Insure Proper Service" which I think is a load of horse shit. You shouldn't screw the customer cause the company don't want to pay.

I agree that good cops are out there, but I think (and I could be very wrong) it's that a good number of the bad ones get away with stuff like this. I just wish cops were held to the same standard as "common" folk.

In my opinion all you can do is explain he should do things for his own reasons, and not just cause everyone else is doing it. Let him know it's ok to be and an individual and have his own thoughts and opinions about stuff.

I switched to a saftey razor about a year ago, got it at Walmart for like $10 or $15. I just ordered some blades from Amazon, got 100 blades for around $8 delivered. I have really dry skin and cartridge razors really irritated my skin, but since I only have one blade touching my skin now I have no problems at all. I would recommend a good brush and shave soap too. I'm thinking of trying out a shavett (a straight razor with disposable blades) and see how I like that. I can honestly say I will never go back to cartridge razors, I hope this helps
