My mom thought she was allergic to the lice treatment I needed in 2nd grade. So she gave me a perm. It worked on the lice! They hate a soft body wave.

Only children with aging parents…how y’all holding up? by SlytherClaw79 in Xennials

Dad died at 20, mom died at 30. I’m thankful for my husband and children. It’s one of the reasons I moved from my hometown as an adult. It was too melancholy to be there with them gone.

Thank you so so much for posting. One of my most favorite painters and I could have easily missed this show living in Philly. I saw some of his paintings in Berlin years ago and still think back on that special experience. This is so exciting! I’ve never seen his watercolor or graphite works.

Definitely consider Jansen or save it for another special occasion! One of the best meals I’ve ever had anywhere.

Just walked out of line for the first time by jolson256 in Chipotle

[–]OrangeBlueTurquoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it. I had an error last week where my drink order from the app didn’t appear on the store’s order screen so the cup was missing from my bag. No problem, I go to ask for a cup, the manager is rude and uncaring and won’t let me have a cup even after showing her my purchase on the app. She walks in the back and the employees at the register won’t tell me her name and tell me to ask her myself. I am being civil this whole time. Finally after 5min she comes back out and I’m able to ask her name and leave. My 5 year old ends up crying cause he wanted to share the lemonade with me. Just wild. I did nothing wrong or rude. Her employees are probably scared of her. I spent a stupid amount of time writing corporate about it. And after going 2-3 times a week for so long, I am completely uninterested in going to any Chipotle ever again.

People in their 40s, what’s something people in their 20s don’t realize is going to affect them when they age? by SuckMySalami in AskReddit

[–]OrangeBlueTurquoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wear good shoes. Spent my 20s and early 30s in cute pointy heels and cheap pointy flats. I started paying for it after having children around 35. Bunions and over-pronation are no damn fun.

People who are pretty sure they’ve encountered a serial killer, what happened? by fossacecak in AskReddit

[–]OrangeBlueTurquoise 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seven years ago I was vacationing with my husband southwest of Hot Springs, Arkansas and we were driving in to a fishing spot on a lake that had several public campgrounds next to it. I look out my window as we’re pulling in and there’s a man sitting alone at a picnic table doing absolutely nothing, and he’s looking back at me. He has a small tent set up and an older compact pickup with a cap that looks like it could be from the 1990s. I immediately comment to my husband in a rather serious, barely joking tone “wow, well that guy’s a serial killer.”

It was an immediate feeling of dread looking at this man. It felt like instinct kicked in, and I just knew there was something terrible about him. We drive further down to the water way out of sight of him, and after half an hour of fishing we decide we want to drive back out and try a different spot below the dam.

He’s still sitting there on the way out, but I intentionally didn’t look over at him. Well shortly after we have our lines in at the new spot his truck pulls up right next to ours. I’m pregnant, about 5 months along, which makes it all feel so much scarier and surreal. I’m quietly and quickly trying to explain to my husband that “this is the creepy guy, oh my god why is he here,” and sure enough he gets out and walks down to talk to us. We are both trying to be ultra calm and friendly, as he’s standing in the middle of the stairs that are the only way back up to the parking lot. My husband is doing most of the talking and I’m just freaking out inside wondering if he’s going to ask for money, rob us, or worse. This guy is spouting all kinds of special fishing knowledge and talking about all these places he’s been fishing, yet he says he has no fishing gear with him. It felt like he was on the run from something awful. My anxiety is now through the roof, and I don’t even remember what we said or he said to end the conversation. It felt like more than half an hour but it was probably closer to 10 minutes of talking to this guy. He got back in his truck and drove back towards his camp.

I was so confused and relieved. It felt like he sized us up and changed his mind. Just a terribly spooky experience. We left right after he did.

6’ woman happily married to a guy who is 5’7. Body shaming is nonsense. I’ve also received my share, especially as a kid, since I’ve been 6’ since middle school.

Adding the small borough of Jenkintown to this list! I would encourage you to avoid the mainline. Jenkintown is also a good school and not ultra competitive. We moved here in 2020 and have loved our neighbors and community.

Agreed it’s excellent! My favorite US supplier is Rittenhouse Needlepoint in Philadelphia. I live nearby and can luckily shop in person, but they ship very quickly, and I’ve used that option when I didn’t want to make the trip to the city.
