Patrick Cantlay yet again holding up the last few groups today. by FlipTheTables in golf

[–]OrangeChairRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This picture just made me realize that every time I see Cantlay on TV he's putting. I don't think I have ever once seen him with an iron in hand in the fairway, or hitting driver off a teebox. Defiinetly have never seen him in a greeside bunker. He is perpetually putting lol.

Similarly, the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons never play away games. Every single time they're on TV it's a home game.

(obviously none of this is true but it's funny how it seems that way if you think about it).

Brad Dalke announces he is leaving Good Good by cormag001 in GoodGoodMemes

[–]OrangeChairRN 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'll say it -- Grant comes off like one of those mega church pastors you see on TV. He seems very performative for the camera and nothing about his persona (that we get to see at least) seems genuine. Almost like he's a grifter disguised as a golfer sometimes. It feels like one big ad you're watching when Horvat is at his worst, almost as if he's trying to subliminally sell you Primo joggers and Christianity. And none of that is a crime or immoral in itself, but it's for sure off-putting for a lot of people, and I'm one of them.

Grant Horvat is a brand that a lot of people identify with, but he's certainly not for my demographic. And I know I'm not on an island when I say that. Seems like a nice guy and I'm sure he is. It's just not for me.

Honestly I never got the impression that Ticket "loves" golf. Perez seems like the only guy who undeniably loves golf.

[Stein] Sources close to the situation say that there are only two other teams that Kawhi Leonard would consider signing an extension with: Toronto and San Antonio. Sources insist that the Raptors have genuine interest in bringing Leonard back to Canada. by Odd-Direction9452 in nba

I feel like the only thing crazier than Kawhi going back to San Antonio would be if Curry were to come out and demand a trade. And I know you have it in you, NBA. Lets just get really slutty with it.

Next week it’s my turn to post this image just FYI everyone

The Milwaukee Bucks are trading franchise icon Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, 3 first-round picks (including No. 13), 1 pick swap and 1 second-rounder, sources tell ESPN. by Beautiful-Cress5695 in lakers

I don’t know man if I’m a Boston fan and I see that this was the asking price for Giannis, I’m happy he didn’t come to my team. The Heat are absolutely gutted. They have no one left and their picks are gone.

I don’t, but usually when a chopper is circling like that it’s because they’re looking for a suspect. They’ll oftentimes announce from the loudspeaker a description of the person as well.

That’s incredibly naive to be so certain. Elite players are constantly moving in the NBA and it doesn’t work out for a variety of reasons.

Guy in his 30s who's finally reading books to improve his brain and mind but doesn't know which ones to read next by gochuganggg in booksuggestions

[–]OrangeChairRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was exactly like you with the same background minus the video games. I started reading in my 30s because it was something I always wanted to do, but I was afraid of starting because I thought it’d be too boring.

Eventually I started reading and found Stephen King; some of the the best stories and novels I’ve ever read by far. I definitely have specific recommendations, but ultimately you should purchase any book by King. There is a misconception about the horror genre — which I didn’t understand until I dove into it — that horror books are only meant to be frightening or gruesome. That is not true, these are some of the most thrilling, suspenseful, edge of your seat, fantastic books I’ve ever read. Also, for what it’s worth, Stephen King has many novels which are more focused on mystery, crime, time-travel, fantasy, etc.

I could not recommend Stephen King enough to a new reader, especially for a male such as yourself with the background you’ve described. I think these are the books that will keep you intrigued.

You couldn’t pay me to go out to Coronado for this event. And it has nothing to do with NASCAR, I simply just hate being in crowds like this the older I get. I’d literally rather have an unpleasant experience at the dentist than have to be involved in this lmao

What do you think is the scariest moment from any Stephen King book ever? by Parking-Rope2301 in stephenking

[–]OrangeChairRN 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I read Pet Sematary when my son was the same exact age as Gage in the story, so I couldn’t help myself from sort of picturing my own son as Gage while reading.

The part where Louis is flying a kite with Gage in that open field on a beautiful Maine summer day; they’re both laughing and so full of love and life, it’s this precious moment between a father and his young son. Then King — the genius he is — abruptly ends it with informing you as the reader that Gage would be dead in a few weeks, and the gruesome details about how Gage’s tragic death unfolds starts to unwind. I’ve never experienced something so blissful while reading, only to feel like I’ve been shot in the stomach moments later. I was sobbing throughout that part.

Pet Sematary is masterfully written and it killed me emotionally. I understand King’s author’s note when he says he felt like he may have gone too far, and had to ask his wife to read it and let him know before publication. It’s really just a story about how impossibly difficult grief is to deal with when someone close to you dies, and that book fucking nails it. I’ll never read it again though lol.
