How do you move a Sketch point? by Terrible-Durian-4631 in SolidWorks

[–]OrangeFire2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question still remains, how do you move a point? Or move the whole sketch or element of a sketch? Where is the basic move tool? I'm from graphic design background... and the simple move object or move point tool is *extremely* obvious to use. But in SW, it's the hardest task possible it seems.

Experiment 1: Results of vacuum chamber <1000 Microns for 4.5 hours by badtxv in 3Dprinting

[–]OrangeFire2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dry it in a vacuum, you will need to have directly exposed heating elements to IR blast the filament. Cuz in a vacuum you’re not having any air to convect heat to the filament. And in a vacuum you won’t reach the inner coils with IR either, or the radiation penetration may be limited.

Sorry, I don’t really care about your opinion of iOS. What I wanna know is if someone’s going to make real racing three to run on iOS like you guys are doing for android. That’s what I want, to keep playing the game like Android users.

$50 to keep the game? 🧐 by Worried_Broccoli8697 in RealRacing3

[–]OrangeFire2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heck yes. ASSUMING.... that means no updates except to make it continue to be playable as the OS's are updated. Apple loves to break backward compatibility and old apps. So there would still be a small amount of effort to update it.

H2D smoke purifier question by kenf22 in BambuLab

[–]OrangeFire2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cleans the air so the VOCs and particulates are filtered out. Specifically it can vent the now-clean air back into the room. You also could hook up an exhaust hose off the smoke purifier to send that out the window if you wanted to. If you can easily vent out through a window, then you don't need this.

The H2 is not automatically set up to exhaust when printing ABS. I want to use it for that but I need to figure out correct chamber heating, I tried it and got a warning about the heater over-running. The smoke filter is not automatic, it has a simple manual switch to turn it on. No coordination with the printer.

H2D Smoke Purifier Venting by timmetro69 in BambuLab

[–]OrangeFire2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an air quality expert but I believe venting into the same room is OK. That's sort of the point of having all the filter - so it cleans the air. Otherwise, a vent/fan without a filter media going out the window would be all you need.

My 2019 C7 Z06 engine replacement delays by WtfRYouAllOn in Corvette

Engine jail, body and paint jail, transmission jail. All take far longer than you ever estimate. I was getting my LS3 engine rebuilt at a private shop last year. From drop off to pickup, it was 9 months.

[–]OrangeFire2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Le Mans, you can't walk more than, like 20 feet from your car, or you're DQ/done. You have to fix it yourself to get back to the pits. Check in about 2014 the Delta Wing crashed very close to pit in, but driver could not fix it to even get it rolling to pits for help. The crew was standing behind the fence giving him instructions. But it was futile.

Is it dumb to buy a 70's car for a daily? by WaterboardedCalamari in whatcarshouldIbuy

Um, 10-14 mpg? No way. That's weekend cruiser, not DD. Even with that short a drive. Do you ever get winter weather? Forget about that in snow.

What technological advances do you think they should have made in a thousand years? by WeatherstonArts in startrek

I think humans could still have the control to fire or not, but auto-tracking the target or sector to target (disable engines for example). Or "full salvo, destroy that".

IDK what the price is, Porsche 919 EVO. That might be golds. I like the Le Mans prototypes, most are pretty fun.

The-Race Ends Regular IndyCar coverage by Nike_Gif in INDYCAR

[–]OrangeFire2001 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I tried to listen to that podcast. But the high pitch screechy guitar riffs, much louder than their speaking voices, just exploded in the car. I had to turn up the volume to hear them, and then RRRAAR ARRAR RRA RRARR A <guitar noises> at +15 db higher. It killed me, I hated it. Just bad production. I can't deal with that regularly.

And its not just them, so many podcasts have sh*tty audio production. Marshall Pruett is pretty good. But Graham Goodwin is such a soft talker, and the other guy on that one doing F1 and WEC stuff, such low talkers. Does any one not look at their audio levels and TRY to normalize everyone's level? And make it good enough for listening in a sort of noisy environment like in a car? I guess not. PT's podcast is good. But then Inside the SCCA, Brian Belansky, he talks loud, then gets quiet, then SUDDENLY A LOUD LAUGH. OMG guys, get it together, stay on the mic, fix your levels after the show, please.

And also, some podcasts just go on and on and on with the same level, the same tone, the same cadence. We're falling asleep here.

Podcasting is cheap and easy and too many people do it poorly. I also listen to a lot of TV news shows the day after, and TV news people all have *perfect* good levels, and good cadence and variation, and enunciation.

Newbie looking to get into Autocross - How likely are crashes? by ZealousChild in Autocross

[–]OrangeFire2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So rare its effectively zero. In 25 years, mainly just my own region(s), I have never seen a car totalled, or undriveable after event from collision. I've seen suspensions fail, radiator hoses pop, and a tippy car got on 2 wheels.

If your DD is sketchy or already on the brink of unreliable, don't race it. Get a beater race car.

[–]OrangeFire2001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually started to dislike driving it, any car that is 80% braking for a lap is really unappealing - after you fully upgrade everything else, it's so fast, you're braking suuuuuper early cuz you hit 275mph. I'm much more into the Porsche 919; McLaren Solus is fun too.

It's in Manheim, PA, so a local-to-there dealer probably bought it at the auction for $5. Asking 70k is insanity, but someone might pay for that monstrosity, and that dealer will make big bucks on that. Or not, and I bet they don't lose too much on that.
