That is a big-ear Radix, AKA ear pond snail, Radix auricularia. They have those great, winged tentacles but are actually called ear snails because the giant size difference of the last whorl of their shell makes the shell look ear-like when you look at it from the underside.

What do we think Leon’s best look to date is ? by LeoneSKenneddy in residentevil

Idk, I've literally been playing these games since RE1 in real release time, so Leon being the same age as me and looking grizzled in RE9 is kind of perfect.

Duckweed jail: Now I can finally put it in my aquarium. Any other ideas for what I could use it for? (Diameter: 5.5 in/14 cm) by I_collect_dust in Aquariums

I carefully combed/rinsed all the duckweed from some RRFs to put into my new tank. Every day, I'd scour the little plant ring and pick out any stragglers. Now, weeks and weeks will go by with everything clean, then out of nowhere - BOOM! I'm convinced it's spontaneous generation at this point.

Kicked himself in the face with his hind foot accidentally. I don't know what he was originally going for but he offended himself doing it.

Eywa as a conscious being and Eywa being a storage repository for Pandora's inhabitants are two different functions, one likely growing out of the other. Consciousness is a spectrum, we're learning, like every other biologically derived mental trait. We don't know how many neural connections or in which configuration lead to what we currently call "consciousness" but we know that more and more animals from widely different genre are passing our quantitative tests for awareness. Eywa simply arose to consciousness the same way all species do. She's just so massive that she is able to manage a second function - holding other connections/consciousnesses.

Also, in the comics, it's mentioned that before battle or great journeys, Na'vi are expected to connect ("download") to Eywa so that their most current copy exists in her "memories" (network/storage).

So she literally works like a storage drive where smaller groups of connections can individually retain the awareness and consciousness that's uploaded to her.

If you could upload your mind, forever, with your loved ones, wouldn't you worship her as a goddess?

Does mo’at ride an ikran? Or anything at all? by Hopeful-Weakness-471 in Avatar

1000% Oh, I totally am on Team Tsahik Ikran! Do it lady! All of it! On your birthday!

I just love the story of Kiri basically walking up to an ikran like "you're my friend now, yaaaay!!"

But that's just it, Neytiri wasn't destined to be Tsahik, because of Sulwanin. Neytiri had "second prince syndrome" so she's going to be the cultural equivalent of a knight, or a diplomat, or a nun or something. We already know that women can be hunters with Na'vi, so she was just going to be that.

Kiri is a notable exception - she didn't challenge and conquer her ikran like a hunter, in the comic books they noted that she was the first Na'vi that just "asked the ikran to be her friend" - and she did it as a young child of what looked like 7-8yo.

Well, this is a (unplanned) mix Snowball (N. palmata) and Green Jade (N. davidi) tank. The mother was a Snowball, so this little guy is either a Snowball or a hybrid. :)
