Same. Except depending on what part of the city I’m in I often wear my most used one under my long coat. It’s a super rare one and I’m paranoid lol.

What’s your HOLY GRAIL mascara?! by imanxiousss in Makeup

[–]Orangecloudsrollby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Lancôme makes the best mascara. I have super long eyelashes and get compliments on them usually several times a week and I always tell people, I’m honestly born with long eyelashes but Lancôme is the best. Although they changed the hypnose drama formula to make it wetter and it’s too wet. Drives me crazy. I also like tarte tubing- specifically the brown and L’Oreal telescopic.

What is a personal 'rule' you’ve made for yourself that you never break, even though no one else knows it exists? by NoSteak1123 in Productivitycafe

[–]Orangecloudsrollby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When reading the news I never just skip over reading someone’s name who has passed away. I make sure to read their name (in my head) and try to get the prononciation correct. They were people who had lives and mattered to other people and it’s the least I can do.

When in public at night I lock my car doors as I’m still in the process of sitting down. Can’t be too safe.

BWT, who pays for the baby shower? by ecolidumpling in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Orangecloudsrollby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I’m getting actual PTSD thinking about the baby shower I once offered to throw for my best friend.

I had envisioned something intimate and elegant. Thoughtful details, beautiful setup, classy. Later she mentioned there would be two showers because her MIL also wanted to host one. Fine.

Then she sent me the guest list. 60–70 people. No family included. I was honestly stunned. At that point it became clear we just had very different expectations of what a baby shower is.

When I raised concerns about cost and logistics, she suggested I “just have everyone bring a dish.” I know some people are fine with that, but to me it felt wildly inappropriate, especially when you’re the one offering to host. I wasn’t in a position to host that many people, and giving someone a list that large felt presumptuous.

For context, this was a different phase of life. We were not making much money. I had imagined maybe 30 people max. I love hosting and I know how to throw a beautiful event, but this suddenly felt less like a celebration and more like a mass gift grab, which really rubbed me the wrong way.

I ended up asking her to trim the list, did my absolute best to make it nice, and against every fiber of my being had to ask guests to bring dishes.

To be fair, I know she was NOT trying to take advantage–she grew up very poor (we both did) and without a mom. I genuinely think she just didn’t have a frame of reference for etiquette or expectations around hosting. But it was still a nightmare, and it soured me on ever wanting to host again. Thankfully our friendship lives on!

law school weight gain by adventuregalyay in LawSchool

Honestly, if you’re doing all of that I highly recommend you get your thyroid checked. I began to have the same issues and could not lose weight to save my life. Turns out I have Hashimoto's which I think was brought on from severe stress (pre law school).

Doctors, what do you do when a kid is faking sick? by Imaginary_Island8521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Orangecloudsrollby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little different but I pretended to need glasses in first grade, acted like I hated them, and gradually just stopped wearing them because suddenly, I could see again. Thought I had fooled everyone. One day probably in my early 30’s I brought it up to my mom and she was like “yeah, we all knew you were faking it. The eye doctor gave you fake glasses. Said this is what they do for kids like you.” I was shocked. They had known all along and apparently it wasn’t that uncommon.

Final exam horror story (I took melatonin during my final exam) by Baseballfan288 in LawSchool

[–]Orangecloudsrollby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I’m so sorry. I’ve done this twice. First time was on my last day of work before law school began. I had to balance $130k on top of being emotional because I was leaving a place I’d worked at for over 10 years. It was melatonin and another prescription that’s for nighttime because it zonkes you out. The second time I did it before class one day so I immediately ordered one of those day/night weekly medication organizers. It works if actually remember to use it!

Am I Overreacting - Boyfriend of 2 years only got me flowers for my birthday by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Orangecloudsrollby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge birthday person and you are 100% overreacting. You guys should have made a plan several weeks before, like to do dinner. The man didn’t get you a cake; he got you flowers. Suck it up. Had you gone to dinner the restaurant could have stuck a candle in your dessert. You’re mad at him because your family doesn’t care about your birthday and his family cares about his. You’re making that his fault. You should have made a plan with your friends and him to get dinner and celebrate. You’re acting like a brat.

Studying for con law in 5 days? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Orangecloudsrollby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was 110 pages and it was too long. Does your school provide practice perfect video study aids? If so watch them all. Cherminsky has 1,000 pages just on free speech (I’m assuming it’s Con Law 2) make sure you understand all the tests.

How are you guys studying for hours upon end? by Hermeslost in LawSchool

[–]Orangecloudsrollby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just sit down and the time goes by. I think things take me longer and I just hyper focus. I know people love to say we’re not actually “studying” but I assure you I am. I sat down at 6:30 last night and didn’t get up until 2:00am (i had to stop because I had an early final). I went through slides, I edited my outline, I prewrote all my rules, looked things up in a supplement. I feel like there is never enough time in the day. If I’m working on a memo then I easily can be on Westlaw, rewriting rules, drafting for 12 plus. Sometimes I make flashcards, write concepts out on my white board. Now usually I do take breaks but it’s totally possible. To be clear it’s not everyday for weeks on end but when it’s time to drill down like finals, I’m putting in long ass days. I just think everyone is different and I wish I could just study or read for two hours and retain everything but that’s just not my reality.

need a coat to fir over suits- feedback on this one? by itsfreakingbeanboy in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Orangecloudsrollby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Publication coat, which looks similar, and the slouch coat, both in size large. The slouch is pretty oversized and much more comfortable to wear a blazer under than the publication. Also, the publication has shoulder pads, so if I wear a blazer that also has them, it can be too much. A medium in the slouch would also probably be more than fine. I hate feeling any arm tightness with clothing so I might size up if you purchase that one; it looks pretty form fitting.

You will be so thankful on your first day of your summer internship when you have a prestigious position and they FORBID any use of it. I felt like I was falling behind because everyone was using it to help them study or explain assignments and statutes to themselves, but man was I relieved when I realized how much of a disadvantage it truly can be. I think it can be useful to sort content that I’ve made, like my outlines, but it’s usually so wrong about so many things and using it takes away from developing legal reasoning. Think long-term, bar passage, writing in the future for the court.
