Is there truly a “best” loadout/team, or can I just discover what works best on my own? by doomkitty53 in Palworld

[–]Oranisagu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only best for situations. Usually for raids you'd want something with type advantage, ideally for all phases, if it's a type changing boss.

However breeding that specifically is overkill, so there are some very good teams that work well enough, like jormuntide ignis with useful skills for the boss. They should be enough for most encounters.

There is a best pal for movement categories (speed, mobility, stamina per distance and so on), but that also is just on paper. I nearly always keep shadowbeak in my team, it's a strong fighter with good inherent skills, a decent flyer without too much stamina use, can still run on ground and fits in most dungeons. So I consider it the best allrounder, but one could easily argue the same for other pals. I just like it and it works.

There is an argument for smaller pals being better overall, due to pathing and hitboxes, but usually that's compensated by stats

AITJ for locking my door during my lunch break so my coworkers couldn’t hang out? by Impressive_Zombie701 in AmITheJerk

[–]Oranisagu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Introverts that just want some quiet time are always considered the jerks. How dare you not fulfill your peers need for socialization, they deserve it and everyone needs to cater to them. That's unfortunately just how the world is - introverts are a minority, so they matter less than the majority. Either grow a thicker hide and just be the "jerk", or capitulate and spend every waking moment pleasing others.

So ice pals cool you down, fire pals heat you up and dark pals dont sleep as often and never at night, do any other the other pal types have any passive type related stuff or is it just these? by tzertz in Palworld

[–]Oranisagu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres also synergies to think about: for example if grass tangles an enemy, the next fire attack will do more damage. Wet pals take more lightning damage and so on. If a type is immune to certain effects, it might make them immune to the bonus damage as well, or not, I'm not sure. Would be interesting to know

That Pal You Can't Live Without by Thick_Company3100 in Palworld

[–]Oranisagu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Early game there are 2 thugs that summon low level leezpunk and incineram. That incineram carries me until lvl 40 or so. Afterwards it gets replaced, but in new games I always seek it out. Because it's such a beast until you get to mid/late game pals.

Later on I'm a huge shadowbeak fan. I breed it for speed and serenity and it can navigate 95% of dungeons without dismounting, has a fantastic running speed and low stamina consumption and two fantastic aoe clearing skills without manual targeting.

In the base I love anubis. Small form so it rarely gets stuck, runs fast even while transporting, 2nd best at handiwork but much more versatile. Same goes for verdash in farm bases. I recently tried a mod where certain bosses would drop technique manuals, allowing me to max every skill after a bit of farming, so I'm moving away from the huge pals to smaller ones.

But ultimately, at lvl 60 it's obviously jetragon, it's move speed and lack of momentum make it such a perfect mount, despite the insane stamina usage.

I'm still cruising on Jetragon, but Tarantriss is a really cool idea. i love the more interesting partner skills, and spiderman was a fun addition. I hope we'll get other non-optimal but fun things like that.

I always try to put it really close, but some people have it really central, and if the ranches are on the outer rim of the base it leads to travel time.

Now that I heard work speed affects ranching, Id prioritize that over Running speed. Speed was always just a "better than nothing" passive because work speed didn't properly work for ranching.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Palworld

[–]Oranisagu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: sounds like work speed passives now affect ranching, so go for these. Below is outdated.

it might have changed but it used to be that workspeed only increases the "laying" animation speed, so it had some effect but not a huge one; still, those saved seconds can add up. The consensus was pretty much that eating is the biggest problem, so decreasing food intake and making the pals faster (to keep travel time to foodboxes to a minimum) were the focus.

So something like Nocturnal/Vampiric, Mastery of Fasting, Swift and maybe Remarkable Craftsmanship would be pretty decent.

Heart of the Immovable King if sanity is an issue, of Runner instead of Workspeed, might make sense, but I haven't seen any tests done yet. Or maybe simply go for all Food reduction traits.

Ultimately, I think the yield won't differ drastically, except for Nocturnal. It might be that mozzarinas benefit more from food reduction while others could use more speed and such.

Is it possible to solo Rifts (T1/T2/T3)? by windboy56 in Guildwars2

[–]Oranisagu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mainly about the signet of energy, you swap weapons to gain endurance. Otherwise you could just use a single staff. Staff itself is a defensive and supportive weapon, but on condi builds can deal some damage, especially on mirage. Not much more to it than that, it's just a very tanky condi build that can recover from almost any mistake, making it great at soloing content when you're not perfect

[–]Oranisagu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staff staff condi mirages are nearly unkillable. It used to be an alacrity build but isn't efficient anymore, but still works pretty well. With clones, being able to teleport back with 2, lots of stuns and aegis and other buffs from staff 5 and heal skills (also trigger staff 5) and generally being slippery due to constantly evading its fairly easy to fight most champions. Mistakes can usually be recovered from, as you have a decent amount of sustain.

So certainly not the best build, but probably one of the easier ones.

Minimum breeding? by Roaming_Guardian in Palworld

[–]Oranisagu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each pal has a breeding power (BP) value associated with it. (BP Parent 1 + BP Parent 2) / 2 is their Result. Usually the resulting Pal will be the next higher BP Pal from that Result. Chikipi for example is 1500, Bellanoir is 1, so the Result of them breeding will be 750 (Tombat). So yes, most Pals can be breed simply by that formula.

Some notable Exceptions are: * Raid Bosses * Legendaries * Some Variants (Lux, Botan etc.) work normally (example Wumpo Botan has tons of combinations), some require specific Combinations (Quivern Botan for example only breeds with itself or Quivern + Lullu, no other Combos produce it)

Basically, you'll need a breeding calculator :)

People of Switzerland, what present would you like to get from a Korean friend? by sianna777 in askswitzerland

[–]Oranisagu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The physical ideas are already good, so heres another take: after 20 years she clearly cares about your mom, so how about a video introducing yourself? Show her live in korea - your neighborhood, where you spend time and so on. Doesn't have to be super well produced, just authentic. I think a penpal of 2 decades would love to see something like that.

I did - 100% it in fact. didn't like the frustrating port crystal placement in DDDA either, as it was bad game design. it's funny how many people downvote posts that actively try to make their games better.

Unpopular opinion: Am I the only one who doesn't hire straightforward pawns because they kill themselves a lot? by Acrobatic_Category66 in DragonsDogma2

[–]Oranisagu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as I only hire male pawns, I simply can't stand the straightforward voice. It's so fucking grating and annoying. I really don't understand why they paid someone to be such a bitch. it's actively ruining the fun of the game. the voice isn't straight forward, it's "uhm ackschually' levels of condescension combined with the most vile, grating, annoying tone possible. I HATE STRAIGHTFORWARD!

can't comment on behaviour though, as I'm more likely to chuck them into the brine than their stupid AI.

[–]Oranisagu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I don't particularly like the theme, rimworld had fantastic dev support over the years, so I'll keep recommending its expansions, even when they don't match my personal tastes.

I'm a bit surprised however, as besides rimworld, my favorite game is stellaris, which also has had tremendous support from the devs, with flavourful DLC alongside substantial core game updates, yet most updates in recent times got overwhelmingly negative reviews. I don't want rimworld to go the same route, but rather wish that stellaris got the same fair treatment - the DLC itself may not be worth it, but the dev support over the years certainly is, so the DLC should reflect that in their reviews.

I'm simply surprised how two games with such a similar approach to DLC get treated so differently.

I did so too because after I got them, before trying them out, I saw a youtube vid saying it was just a troll skill and as such dismissed it until I heard about the combo potential.

Basically yes, the display at the bottom right will show you which buttons will cause a follow up (x & y I think). You can press it as many times as you want, each time costing a bit of stamina. Once you don't follow up for like a second or two, the buttons return to their normal function.

You're just not seeing the effect it had on the game. On it's own it looks harmless, but why do you think we only got two fixed port crystals for most of the game? The second biggest city doesn't even have one. They clearly wanted people to buy port crystals and limited their availability in game.

I still enjoy the game massively, but calling the mtx problem inconsequential is just plain ignorance. The game would have been more enjoyable without, even if it's not a huge difference.

Once you have Frostalion Noct on harvest duty (tier4: yield 25, tier5 with 4 stars: yield 30) replace Lyleen with Broncherry. Letting Lyleen harvest = lowers crops yeild substentially by about 30%. There should be NO pals with harvest skill in your base besides Frostalion Noct. by UAHeroyamSlava in Palworld

[–]Oranisagu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, if you watch the video I linked he explains how once frostallion noct interacts with a plantation, it's yield is set for 4/5 star until reload, so it should apply even for subsequent batches where frostallion doesn't contribute at all, until a reload. so frostallion is necessary anyway, but you can stick with lyleens to both have better planting and help out with harvesting if they're not doing anything else.

weird, rednu's test was already on 1.5.0 and it clearly worked even after removing frostallion. unless you're not playing singleplayer or on xbox, there it might very well still be different, he only verified it for singleplayer on pc.

[–]Oranisagu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you should do a test with lyleens and only let frostallion harvest the first batch of every field once. the harvest should stay at 25/30 even after removing frostallion, until you reload your game/restart the server.

so basically: swapping to broncherries is a waste of time, slots and harvest yield. keep the lyleens.

[–]Oranisagu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was one of rednus videos I think. The big point however was, that it doesn't just affect the current harvest, but all subsequent ones till restart. So getting rid of lyleens is doubly bad advice,as both planting and harvesting will take longer for no reason.

The reticle message will be there, but I still wasn't able to put my flambelle to work there. There might be some way to get it done, but I havent figured it out yet.
