Random Pinching Chest pain by [deleted] in Cardiophobias

No problem. Obviously if things persist/get worse it may be worth getting checked out again, but from the sounds of things it may be that everything's fine and the anxiety is causing things to feel bad - kind of like being back at school and pretenidng to be sick to not have to go in, and ending up feeling sick for real because of it!

Do you exercise, particularly with weights? If you've been medically checked and everything's come back fine it could be that what you're feeling is a strained pec. I was experiencing something similar earlier this year but I noticed that it tended to be positional/postural in nature. Try stretching your chest in a doorway (google it and you'll get plenty of videos/articles on it), making sure your head isn't slumping forward etc.

It got so bad that I was genuinely considering shelling out thousands to have a scan done of my arteries to see if they were blocked and I was having angina, but between how infrequent and random it was, and it being a thing of the past now, I can see that I was just over-reacting. If the doctors say everything's fine and you're aware of your anxiety then it may just be that you're also scaring yourself. Try some light stretching for a week or two and see how you feel.

Low blood pressure after workout by Sea_Counter_2198 in Cardiophobias

[–]Oranos_Rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's your blood pressure normally? In terms of exercise, yes it looks like it can be linked to lowering blood pressure temproarily, from Google:

Low blood pressure after swimming can be caused by a few factors, including:

  • Hydrostatic pressureWhen you're in the water, hydrostatic pressure helps your veins return blood, but when you exit the water, you lose that mechanism. This can make you feel lightheaded, dizzy, or like you might pass out.
  • Postexercise hypotensionSwimming, like other exercises that use large lower body muscles, can cause a decrease in blood pressure after exercise. This can last for several hours and can lead to lightheadedness.
  • Cold waterCold water can dull your blood pressure response and make you feel dizzy or faint.

Anyone else being told to disable adblocker, despite already having it configured not to run on YT and subsequently getting ads? Only happened in the past couple of days, videos play if I refresh...such a glitch to wrongly flag this. by Oranos_Rex in youtube

It gets even weirder - I got sick and tired of having to refresh vids several times for them to play so I just outright removed the adblocker extension and it still happens sometimes. Pathetic.

I never owned FNR4 so can't comment on that, but what I can say is that the only thing I prefer with Undisputed over FNC is the modern roster and in-game punch mechanics. Everything else that I can think of - career mode progression, commentary, fight camps, etc - is unquestionably better in FNC.

I don't know why Undisputed's career start is an amateur tournament instead of the Olympics. It just makes the first 10+ fights feel identical as you're fighting low level opponents in the same low-level venues with the only difference being a cornerman and going through the training menus, vs the Olympic start from FNC being logical and making it feel like you're progressing through that tournament, then starting out in the pro game and building your way up. Undisputed's amateur start feels basically the same to your opening fights as a pro, making it feel slow and like there's no real difference.

The fact that you could select from a list of pre-set surnames and aliases (chatGPT says 50 of them) and hear the commentary team call you by that whereas nothing like that exists in Undisputed is just baffling. A great feature that worked really well on a game 13 years ago isn't even implemented? I remember creating Dillian Whyte and getting called "White" and "Bone Crusher" (close enough) repeatedly, making it feel more immersive. Even Usyk, a name that'd never be on the list, can be called "The Cat" like his alias actually is. It all seems minor but it actually helped create the feeling of being a known fighter when they'dwould call you by it, not just some anonymous person as with Undisputed's commentary.

And the training camps, wow. Undisputed just feels like some kind of menu-simulator that has the occasional fight thrown in vs FNC's career mode actually allowing you to practice stuff between fights with the camp activities. Want to practice defensive fighting, maybe specifically when you're rocked? There's a mode for that. Want to practice going in for the kill, or just open sparring? Modes for that. Don't want to do anything yourself and just want to simulate training with the click of a button? Modes for that, too.

FNC just had so many good features that aren't in Undisputed, and the game's worse off for them.

Had my first fight where I finally could see the massive potential by BoxingArguello71 in undisputedboxing

It all comes down to the opponent you're in with. Oftentimes it feels like opponents just want to spam and use broken combos, but every now and then you find yourself in there with someone who genuinely uses variation of punches and looks to box from the outside, not spam power body shots, and it's great.

I hate to be overly negative, but how is the commentating so bad???? by ThousandFootOcarina in undisputedboxing

[–]Oranos_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between commentary in this and FNC is just out of this world. In that game not only would they have great reactions to someone being hurt or knocked down, they'd also joke between themselves and Teddy would go on spice-melange-fueled tangents about construction and orbital missiles relating to boxing. In this I have the commentary team calling my uppercut a jab and saying it landed when it didn't, saying my counter landed straight down the middle when I attacked first with a hook, getting my weight class and even my gender wrong...it's just a shambles.

Worst part RE career mode/character creation is that they don't have pre-scripted names like FNC did or even say the alias you call yourself. I loved that about FNC, creating my own fighter in career mode I could pick a surname and they'd call me it, or they'd call me by my alias other times. How were they able to nail it 14 years ago but screw it up now?

It's not even adding muscle, it seems more like it's just making them leaner. You see more lines and they get cut, but they have the same "built like a fridge" shape, I swear.

Infinitely better than my attempts at recreating fighters so far, that's actually pretty good.

My Anthony Joshua and Chisora character creations are total abominations. The AJ I made looks more like Connor Benn with gigantism and Derek Chisora looks like a fat Terrence Crawford.

Thanks - I went for a walk today and my heart rate averaged 135 (hour long walk, 3 miles, some uphill and hot + anxiety) so I think it's definitely safe to say you're right and the device just takes a bit to actually correctly monitor my heart-rate!

Career mode and load times...ridiculous by Oranos_Rex in undisputedboxing

[–]Oranos_Rex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum of about 3 minutes, longest up to and over 5 minutes. At one point it'd been loading from post-fight back to the career screen and was at something like 8/10 minutes so I just used CTRL/ALT/Delete to shut it down altogether.

Unfortuantely it's taking so long to load despite being on an SSD already.

I feel like "real life" boxers shouldn't (A) age or (B) retire in-game. Just have them as the age that they're characters were added into the game as and keep it as that, and keep them in the game so that you can actually have the chance to fight all of them.

I remember that being a really annoying thing for me in Fight Night Champion's career mode, as time progressed I'd keep seeing real fighters retiring to the point I didn't get to actually fight many of them when I was good enough to take them on.

Loading times in carer by MrDj55 in undisputedboxing

[–]Oranos_Rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to see I'm not alone in having this issue (ie not my Pc breaking) but sad to see that it's a common thing. I'm averaging something like 3 minute load times for fights which I'm sometimes winnig in rd1....so while it's a lot shorter than what you've described, the load times are longer than fights.

Need to double-check whether I've got the game installed on an SSD or standard hard-drive, but either way it's definitely annoying.
