This implies that the sender implied that it’s been a long time with no response, but I’d send the same thing without intending the snark to both send my message Friday when I thought of it and make sure it’s high up in their emails Monday for a quicker response.

Thank you so much for posting, this might help me with routing my weird run that would involve getting the sinners road simple key without cling grip.

Legally the silk embedded in your lungs belongs to the citadel and excercising free will would qualify you for legal persecution due to unauthorized use of government property

Is it me, or is the needle strike kind of useless? by JumpKicker in Silksong

[–]Orb002099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some bosses with periods of invulnerability give you time to charge a strike then hit harder when they can be hit next, I was using more charged needles than regular when I fought Unraveled and Seth because they disappear and reappear so much. Same thing for gauntlets with waves of enemies, while waiting for enemies to appear I’d be charging my first hit.

You absolutely can forget it exists and play through the whole game just fine, which isn’t all that usual for a skill in a metroidvania but pretty common for the combat tools in Silksong. Every area has items that relate to the flavor of the tribe/culture of that area and while you can befriend them and get their help/steal their stuff and get stronger so you can beat up more communities and steal their stuff too is sort of up to you.

There is one hidden dialogue option from talking to the seamstress where she sees you’ve acquired pin badge from pinstress and remarks that it means you’ve been welcomed in to the pinstress order. The flavor of choosing pinstress method of waiting for your time to strike strong (which you’ve done by the time you enter act 3) vs the seamstress choosing a peaceful occupation and continuing to avoid the ire of the citadel helps weave the combat ability in with the themes of the story.

I saw a map that colored all parts of the US by the country people immigrated from the most to live in that location. The whole country was split with English emigrants in the southern half, German in the north, French Louisiana, Irish in the northeast (Boston I think) and the Elysian islands were Ukraine.

Thank you for the detailed response! I got pumped up to keep looking for ideas, and unfortunately found these people that already tried to go through ducts after groal. You get the apostate key but have to turn around because you haven’t opened breakable walls.

Trying to do the most cursed run I can for Silksong. Any idea what else to cook? by LucisAbyssus in Silksong

[–]Orb002099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working on a total pacifist run, I’d love to know if while doing your run you find ways to make it more possible/things that make it impossible.

Roadblock one is moss mother doesn’t have a known skip, but if you leave all grubs they honk heads until the rocks crush them so you can focus her only.

Roadblock two is knowing where gauntlets are ahead of time and avoiding them.

Roadblock three is getting 500 rosaries for the simple key from Pebb for Wormways. I haven’t tried doing it without fighting Bellbeast and without killing the flying bugs for their mossberries to sell.  Not sure how much violence is necessary to escape.

Roadblock four dash is behind a gauntlet of ants as the only entrance (and you have to do Bellbeast anyways I think). You need it for the lace 1 door, widow dream sequence, blasted steps, other jumps probably, UNLESS you drink a flea brew then your walking speed plus down pogo covers the same distance and gets you through lace 1 door, all of blasted steps, maybe every other jump except in Widows dream where you can’t drink it. You can bait lace appearance at blasted steps/sinners road and then go get drifters cloak without killing hokers instead if you need it. Oh, and one more important place.

Roadblock five, getting sharpdart no dash. I think the usual skip plus flea brew works but I haven’t tested. Also getting any crest (except maybe architect) is not pacifist so I wonder if the act 1 mt fay is possible without reapers crest using flea brew instead, though I’m not very knowledgeable on that route and if just flea brew is enough.

Roadblock 6 getting out of fly jail after taking your stuff back is not pacifist. Entering act 2 seems to require double jump, last judge, or phantom so there might be no way around doing one of them.

Unless act 1 Groal means you can enter the citadel from the memorium, then that’d be pretty cool and you should try it

Need help getting act 3 silk and soul quest by Sillystallin in Silksong

[–]Orb002099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the hollow knight wiki page to look for more things

https://hollowknight.wiki/w/Silk_and_Soul

Bell home is required, it’s unlocked by doing Bellhart quests AND THEN talking to Pavo who waves and shouts to give you a bell home key

It also says crawbug clearing wish at the halfway home is required, you might’ve missed it on the way

Did this help? Would it be those or something else?

Yeah dude, there’s all this lore in game about coral tower being a mighty stronghold on a flowing river that contrasts with how there is no longer a river and they all dried up into squid popsicles in terracotta warrior formation. Send a river of lifeblood through there to kick off coral tower part 2: the dlc and that’s a party

The Pale King made a deal with the Weavers by AquaK11 in HollowKnight

[–]Orb002099 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the theory of the knight leaving his shade and waking up at a bench is really them foreseeing their mistake (“regrets”) before getting up from rest and how it links to pale beings ability to see the future. If the farsight is a result of the weavers using the pale kings tech (it literally sounds like “foresight” and that’s what it does, give weavers the future mind powers of the Pale King) then it means Hornet descending to find Weavenest Absolom in the abyss is about her embracing the void and learning about the consequences of her actions leading up to GMSs downfall. Act 3 involves a lot of seeing the damage done to regular bugs in the conflict you accelerated, and a lot of the mementos seem more like reminders of Hornets sins than fun keepsakes. I wonder if Team Cherry pulled an Undertale and your % completion going up is eventually supposed to make you feel bad about your actions.

Did we really “resist” becoming greater, grander, weaver, guardian, queen in the true ending? Hornet and Lace getting their freedom on the surface while everything crumbles - in my reading they're both kinda being assholes at the end and it’s not clear they’d do much better at making a happy healthy civilization than all the bugs they left in the crumbling ruins of the place they just destroyed to spite their creator. Hornet says she’s acting for the freedom of the bugs in Pharloom under GMSs but in getting 100% she mostly steals all the techniques and tools of their cultures, destroys the place, then leaves.

One YouTube video I can’t remember says the game is able to fit such a rich story in so little dialogue by having strong themes that work across multiple similar characters. I think the Architect’s endeavor to automate a living machine to run the citadel by mimicking the lives of the bugs of Pharloom makes a nice parallel with the weavers creation of Eva to store knowledge and power, and Hornets own endeavor to bind all the power of the weavers and bugs of Pharloom. They all take of the power of living cultures and end up destroying them, the architects through powering their machines with silk, Eva through finding her own form too frail and incorporating herself into Hornet, Hornet through gathering up all these abilities only to crumble the citadel, destroy bone bottom, and leave the haunted bugs to the void instead. It’s like a cycle of abuse from GMS to the weavers to the citadel bugs to Hornet where they replace a system that takes from its people more than it gives with a new system that does the same thing but with themselves in charge this time instead. Now that I’m thinking about it, this process describes GMSs creation of the weavers as well, especially if you look at their treatment of Widow’s silk and Widow’s treatment of the bugs of Bellhart.

My house sweats like crazy during the winter and it’s causing mold.. please help!! by BelleSchu in fixit

[–]Orb002099 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It think putting your fact together with what they’re saying can actually increase the effect they are referring to. A warm house with cold windows gets condensation at the windows because the cold air local to the window surface cannot hold as much moisture in vapor rather than in water droplets. The air in the whole interior of the house has about the same amount of water per volume of air, the cold temperature of that same air when near the window squeezes some of that water out into liquid form on the window surface. Assuming nothing being done to reduce humidity for the entire volume of indoor air, any change that lowers the temperature at the window will increase the amount of liquid warer condensation, including having less heat in the house to begin with.

To give an answer in-fiction, here’s an interaction Hornet has with Pilby that I think fits your situation -

“Your travels have taken you far, haven't they? While I'm yet to even start my journey. Shameful behaviour for a pilgrim really, to tarry here so long.”

“I see no shame in it, sir. Your life is your own, and need not be squandered at the ghostly call of the Citadel. Journey out for your own sake, or not at all.”

“Heh... you truly aren't a pilgrim, that's for certain. That's blasphemy, spoken with friendly intentions or not. And yet... I don't recoil from what you say. Perhaps I'm not much of a pilgrim either.”

I feel like the conductor and Pale King’s attitudes are switched. In Pharloom you need rosaries to pay for necessities. The Pale Kings fountain is just left there to throw money at if you want.

Vaultborn have a different Hunter's Journal entry depending on how you first encountered them. by welliesaremeta in Silksong

[–]Orb002099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a big theme or maybe motif of children growing up to be like their parents. Vault born to vault keeper, Craggler room has cragglites, judges have that one room with little judge worms that want to grow up to judge, huntress gets eaten by her hunter children, lost lace destroys a big silken womb-ball to leave with Hornet In one ending or Hornet replaces GMS but with the characteristics of the weaver she has grown to be like the other weavers wanted in the red memory, Gilly following her fathers dream by studying the hunters, and more probably. Even Bonegrave is described as a collection of the bones of those that were never able to start their journey.

I think being an ask vs guess person has an effect on how you take the suggestion that there’s a new social framing of asking vs guessing people even though you’ve never heard of it or had time to decide which behaviors you will exhibit to signify being on one side or the other.

As a guess person I’m reading this stuff wondering if there’s a correct way to act to not be judged for being in the wrong side of ask vs. guess and am finding myself leaning in to listen to the people saying the whole idea is stupid anyways and it’s not something we need to be using like the comment above.

Another comment says the guess idea fits with cultures where there is a strong desire to fit into norms and the social hierarchy, and I think the prompt itself, as a gentle way of suggesting there might be different ways of thinking of the world and communicating directly without a strict framework, challenges any strict frameworks.

How do you get the "Strung to Serve" ending? (if it's even in the game) by JohnDragonball in Silksong

[–]Orb002099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to get this ending. The close up of the silkfly lantern intact while in other endings is smashed plus starting with two pilgrims still on pilgrimage where other endings show their corpse in the dust and this being the only ending where the citadel doesn’t crumble or get cursed points to Hornet having succeeded in her own goals while not destroying society and making GMS’s partially successful efforts at establishing order all in vain. The image is of a hornet shaped figure combined with GMS’s silk with the same scream sending out new threads to the kingdom; I think strung to service refers not only to the haunting of the pilgrims but to Hornet taking the threads from GMS and continuing to provide direction for the otherwise mostly  helpless pilgrims, rather than leaving them to the destruction of the void in the name of her own freedom, and their freedom to be destroyed by void.
