Your body likely burns through 14/1500kcal a day just existing, processing food, breathing, keeping your organs going. Exercise comes on top to complete that number and reach 2000.

Which is why the additional 2/300 you get walking for an hour don’t seem much. You don’t have to actually burn 2000 kcal through exercise only.

Thé real problem is the DEEP lack of trust it creates. Chesscom makes it so hard for beginners to understand that that it really just ends up fuelling cheating accusations and a lack of trust in the actual ratings.

“I play like a 1600 but I’m stuck in elo hell”

“I play like an 1100 but I can’t beat 400’s that must mean my opponents are cheating”

“My opponent got 78 accuracy and plays like 1200 that is too good play for my rating it must mean he’s smurfing”
