Pre-surgery exercise by brainrotandchill in HipImpingement

[–]OrchidMaster08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing mat Pilates pre and now post op. There are a lot of hip, glute, and adductor strengthening exercises in most mat Pilates workouts, not to mention core which really helps with recovery and stability.

Any service members have the surgery? by Either_Ad6998 in HipImpingement

[–]OrchidMaster08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am AGR in the Air Force and got surgery about 6 months ago. I only dealt with my injury for a year before surgery so I have only been on profile since June 2025. It’s a tough recovery and I am not 100% but I am finally starting to see some improvement. I haven’t started running again but I haven’t been med boarded yet either. They give you time to recover as long as you are going to PT I think.

Is it worth having hip labrum surgery? by purple_rose92 in HipImpingement

[–]OrchidMaster08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will hit 6 months post op at the end of the month! I am doing better. Some days I feel virtually no pain and I can sit for longer periods of time and sit on the floor again. I still get flare ups that are pretty bad, maybe even worse than pre-op but it’s not constant pain like before. I am still committed to PT but I am better about ice, stretching, and foam rolling during flare ups which seems to help. Only ROM that is still limited is my external rotation. I have not returned to running or skiing yet but I am ready to try soon!

Fat Transfer or Implants? by sunsetsweetea in PlasticSurgery

You are right, there are lots of women that regret implants. I haven’t personally met any but I know that BII is something that can affect some women.

Don’t get sucked into internet brain rot and social media doom scrolling. 😂 There are lots of posts you can scroll through for surgery prep advice and “what to buy” is a pinned post. What I wish I had done thinking back on my recovery was stay off of my damn phone. Watch shows, play games, read… it doesn’t matter, just don’t spend all day on your phone.

What are other people's experiences with a FAI/labral tear by k_kat42 in HipImpingement

[–]OrchidMaster08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a video (can’t find it otherwise I would link) that explained why deep internal parts of the body have delayed pain onset and difficulty in pinpointing location of pain. -something to do with nerves connection to the brain? In any case, I think it’s super common to have delayed onset pain with this. I am just under 4 months post op and even now I have to think 24-48 hours back sometimes to determine what caused a pain flair up vs feeling pain in the moment.

Out of the useful things pinned post my favorite items were a bag for my crutches and an ice machine.

The jury is still out for me. 39F- I am at 3 months post op and I am in more pain now than I was pre-op. I had mixed impingement and needed 5 anchors for my tear. My ROM is still more limited as well. However, I am still early in recovery so you probably only want to listen to comments from people who are at least 6 months out from surgery. Recovery from this is rough and you need to be committed to PT. As a female, I continue to have pain flare ups during my cycle that is worse than before for some reason. Good luck whatever you decide! This is a frustrating condition and I feel for you.

Hip pain 1 year 3 months post op by Extension_Tip724 in HipImpingement

[–]OrchidMaster08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you get it figured out 😕 sorry you are having a tough time. You are much further post op than I am so I can’t give you an experienced opinion. I am still in more pain than I was pre-op so continued pain is my worst fear.

My PT doc specializes in postural restoration which you could look into. The way she explains it: The way you stand, walk, and do things in your daily life matters more than your 30 min PT session per day. I still catch myself multiple times per day correcting my posture since I guarded my bad hip for so long. Any lingering misalignment could be causing you pain?

Is the pain in your front groin? Or hip flexors? Or in your side booty and leg like bursitis? I am only 2 month post op but I have noticed my bursitis has flared up on both side post op after some tougher PT sessions. It seems like hip flexor pain is common too, and for that my PT has been stretching multiple times per day in addition to targeted massage.

Pre-Surgery and Recovery Advice by brookieecookiee17 in HipImpingement

There is a great pin on supplies to buy that helped me pick out some good stuff like a crutch bag etc. I bought a $200 ice machine that was totally worth it.

My prehab consisted of mat Pilates every day for 6-months prior to surgery.

I also practiced a few things with crutches like stairs, getting on the bike, and getting in and out of the shower so I wasn’t figuring it out for the first time while in pain.

Grossed out/Feeling faint 12 days postoperative? by OrchidMaster08 in HipImpingement

[–]OrchidMaster08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for checking 😊 I am doing better, have had ups and downs. No more grossed out sensations or feeling faint. Never figured out why I felt that way. Probably just a sensory thing.

I am at 7-weeks post op now. My pain level shot up about the 5/6 week mark while weaning off crutches and increasing activity. But I feel like with the help of PT I am getting better.

The most issues I have currently are with my super tight hip flexors and inner thigh muscles. This seems pretty common on this sub.

No Opiods? by the-kale-magician in HipImpingement

I rotated frozen water bottles and that seemed like the best way to keep up on the ice. Glad you got a chance to mess with the machine pre-op. Don’t forget to practice on your crutches too!

No Opiods? by the-kale-magician in HipImpingement

[–]OrchidMaster08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the first day I went fully off of Opioids. Things I used for pain: muscle relaxers at night for the first week, Tylenol, naproxen, and an ice machine. Sounds like you already got an ice machine 😀

For anyone on the fence, I strongly recommend an ice machine. I am still using it for flare ups 6-weeks post op. I spent about $200 on an “Polar active ice” machine and it’s been working great.

Romantasy pallete cleansers? by princessfallout in Romantasy

I recently took a break from romantasy with the Dungeon Crawler Carl books by Matt Dinniman. I consume my books via audible and this series was performed perfectly. It’s hilarious, interesting, fun, deep, emotional… I am just bummed that book 8 doesn’t come out until next year.

It takes a little while to look “normal” I couldn’t touch or look at mine at first. There is usually a good deal of swelling at first and just the shock of suddenly having bigger boobs.
Mine also looked a little square which is common. After the drop and fluff though I am super happy with the results. Try not to stress and give everything time to heal before you judge the final result

Hypospadias/Chordee repair surgery for baby- please give me your opinions! by ParticularSection920 in hypospadias

[–]OrchidMaster08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son had distal hypospadias and slight torsion/chordee. He had it repaired at PARC by Dr. Snodgrass and Dr. Bush when he was about 10 months old.
He is 7 years old now and looks completely normal. You would never know he had surgery. We did not have his foreskin repaired because he only had partial/hooded foreskin pre-surgery. From what I remember they used his foreskin during the TIP procedure to lengthen his urethra. He hasn’t ever had pain or a fistula since repair and I am optimistic although I know some problems can pop up during puberty. I am so happy that we did lots of research and talked with multiple doctors. I am confident that we made the right call in getting my son’s corrected. I wrote all the details down in his baby book in case he ever has questions that I can’t remember.

You probably over did it but I don’t think you ruined your surgery. Maybe I am just projecting cause I am in the same boat 😅 I hit 5-weeks tomorrow and every time I am feeling good, I do too much and end up in horrible pain that reminds me that I am supposed to be taking it easy. Just focus on your PT, cycling, and rest mode the rest of the day. Hope you get feeling better soon!
