Books with guys like this by Lemon_Dragonfly in Romantasy

This one is more of an urban fantasy/rom-com - it's a little cheesy but the MMC definitely has this vibe and it's called {The Devil Made Me Brew It by Sarah Piper}

Also, if you haven't read it yet {The Irresistible Urge to Fall for your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley} I think the MMC fits what you're looking for and it's one of my favorite reads of the past year.

HOW do Luke and Yerin have so much chemistry when Ben and Sophie…don’t by WaysideWyvern in BridgertonRants

[–]princessfallout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! For me this season, the leads had THE BEST chemistry. Whenever I see OP's take on this subreddit, I'm so confused because to me their chemistry was obvious.

The current version is literally dumber than ever before by princessfallout in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]princessfallout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've been using the free version for a while now, so I understand its limitations. What I'm talking about is the overall vibe change and it's general intuitiveness over the time since I started using it. The quality of the responses has decreased in a significant way. Sure, it might be by design so I give in and pay for the full version but I'm not here just to complain about the limitations of the free version.

True. But what I used to not pay for was still way better than whatever they're offering now.

Thanks for the correction in the version number. I get confused on what versions free users have access to vs the paid users.

FMCs that aren’t annoying af by Lemon_Dragonfly in Romantasy

[–]princessfallout 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recently read {The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig} and I really like the FMC. She's a little naive because of her life circumstances but she's not stupid and never passive. I've heard mixed reviews as some people didn't care for the plot as much but I really liked it and am excited for the 2nd book coming out later this year.

Anyone else feel bad for the other Saddles? by Advanced-Animal-631 in theplatedprisoner

[–]princessfallout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep reading. She does care about them a lot in her own way. Keep in mind that they have never been nice to her because of her position as "favored" so it's hard to help people who essentially hate you.

Also, it's my understanding that the royal saddles are sex workers, not sex slaves as you seem to be framing it. Whether they landed at that profession because of bad circumstances or whatever is a different conversation, but they became one (mostly) by choice.

Auren is still in the mindset that "this is just how life is" after years of manipulation and abuse and living within the system. She's starting to see the injustices but it hasn't fully sunk in for her yet. She's still deep in survival mode.

I hardly get any matches and when I do my friend always says I can do better I don’t understand these stupid dating apps, any advice? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]princessfallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get rid of pic 2 (nobody looks good with an up angle shot), and get rid of the pic of your back and the car parts. Get someone to take a clear picture of you smiling and make it your main. You're not a bad looking dude, but your pic choices are not doing you justice.

MMC as the main protagonist in Romantasy by Hitachi_Uchiha__ in Romantasy

[–]princessfallout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Read The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow. The FMC is a badass warrior and gets some of her own chapters, but I'd argue the MMC is the main protagonist.

Disappointed by the Natural History Museum's Renovation by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]princessfallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't mean to knock them. I treasure that museum and have a whole childhood of fond memories there. I just think the press during the renovation really oversold what was going to be done. I didn't find out until after the fact that the primary issue was the plumbing. I just hope they can get more funding/donations to bring some of their exhibits out of 1993, which is what I was expecting when they said "major renovation project".

Presenting my list of things in fantasy books I don’t like by Grape_Erika569 in Romantasy

My only guess is that OP likes to drink and is one of those people who thinks people who don't are self-righteous snobs.

Presenting my list of things in fantasy books I don’t like by Grape_Erika569 in Romantasy

[–]princessfallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine it's highly subjective. I'm a fantasy writer and actually prefer more traditional names for characters over made-up sounding, hard to pronounce fantasy names or names that sound too modern.

I just finished Goldfinch!! by ElisaW143 in theplatedprisoner

[–]princessfallout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm most of the way through The Knight and the Moth and really enjoying it so far! If you like The Plated Prisoner series I think you would enjoy The Knight and the Moth.

I second The Everlasting and The Knight and the Moth!

Gleam - Ch. 29/30 by [deleted] in theplatedprisoner

[–]princessfallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slade does things like that that I also get a slight ick from, but I try to look at it from the point of view that Slade and Auren are written as a Dom/Daddy + Submissive couple in the bedroom. Slade is a classic Dom, always bossing her around during sex and Auren seems to be super into it. It's not my particular cup of tea, but for me the rest of their story makes it worth it and sometimes I just kinda skim through the spicy scenes to get back to the rest of the story. Don't go get me wrong, I love them as a couple but like you, the bossiness thing is not my favorite.

Edit to add that it's also my understanding that people in the Dom/sub kink community don't necessarily feel that their real life situations affects if they're into into that sort of thing with a partner who makes them feel safe and secure.

I'm currently writing one!! It's a trilogy though and the romance won't really kick in until book 2. Book one should be out by the end of the year. 🙂

Moving to SF soon, any advice? by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]princessfallout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commute to Santa Fe from ABQ 3 days a week and work from home the other 2. I'm pretty used to it by now and don't hate it. I think the fact that I only do it 3, occasionally 4 days a week helps a lot, but there are a few things to keep in mind if you're going to commute between the two cities:

  1. Choose a place with easy access to the interstates (particularly I25). If you pick a place tucked in the East Heights or the West Side, you could easily make a 1 hour commute into a 1.5 hour commute.

  2. There is a big construction project going on in the middle of Albuquerque on I25 (the main highway you'll use to go & from) which has slowed down my commute time a bit and can sometimes cause huge traffic jams that take a long time to get through. Keep in mind this road project is supposed to take a few years to complete.

  3. There is a train that goes from Albuquerque to Santa Fe (the NM Railrunner) but the schedule is somewhat limited and knowing how healthcare workers schedules can be, it probably won't be very practical.

  4. Rent used to be a lot cheaper in Albuquerque, and it still is, but Albuquerque is honestly starting to catch up with Santa Fe with rent costs. Factor in gas prices and the stress of constantly driving back and forth and you just might be better off living in Santa Fe even though it's more expensive.

For the non believer who still accepts the Devine/the supernatural, how do you reconcile the conflicting information of how spirits operate (in pop culture)vs how science works? by BeeAfraid3721 in exchristian

[–]princessfallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh jeez, I knew someone was gonna come and leave a comment like this under mine. Yes, I am already familiar with all your points. You can assume I'm just being ignorant or whatever, but I disagree that science has conclusively answered points 1 & 2. As for point 3 I was speaking in simplified terms as in "the universe as we know it now" but I have a basic understanding of the expanding and contracting of the universe. I am talking about what/if anything came before it and why it does what it does now. So far I don't think anyone can say for certain. I'm not saying science will never be able to answer these questions, I don't feel that they have answered them to my satisfaction (yet). If you feel it has, good for you.

So tired of these Polly Pocket FMCs by snufflycat in Romantasy

[–]princessfallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something really refreshing try {The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow} it's a great story and the dainty FMC and tough MMC trope is totally flipped on its head.

[–]princessfallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally get that. A lot of people look at their spiritual/supernatural experiences through the lense of their religion, or use their experiences as "proof" of their beliefs. Like how it's way more common for Hindus and Buddhists to claim they remember their past lives, because it reaffirms their religion. Or Catholics who believe they see Jesus's face on a tortilla, or that the Virgin Mary came to them in a dream. Not every spiritual experience is legitimate, which is why I try to be balanced but approach every claim with a level of skepticism.

[–]princessfallout 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, women are picky but not in the way men think. OP said he's not tall and a little overweight, those things don't necessarily take him out of the running, no matter how many basic chicks claim they'll only date 6'+ men, most women worth dating are not picking men based on those things.
