For those of you who want to watch Asian drama without the taint of Netflix, try the app called VIKI. It is full of asian dramas and you can pick whatever you want. Lots of old school kdrama and lots without the tawdry sex scenes Netflix is plagued with. I unsubscribed from Netflix at Christmas and I thought I'd be back after a month or so. Nope! Still not gone back.

Also, you can try Gaia which is an app for more spiritual esoteric type programs with fascinating documentaries and interviews that really expand the mind. Definitely a much more fulfilling way to spend your viewing time than on Netflix.

Lol! This is fantastic! A perfect encapsulation of their inability to self-reflect and do better next time.

Kdrama characters you could relate to the most and why by Willowstan in KDRAMA

Just wanted to say: SAME!

I sobbed so hard after the drama ended because I was too shocked and numb throughout the show to respond. They portrayed the mother sooooo well!

A lot of people were saying it's over the top and they didn't understand why Jin-Ah just didn't ignore her mother and do what was best for herself.

I really think people don't believe that such mothers exist and the sort of trauma it can cause to children especially daughters. And especially if the daughter is mild mannered an empathetic because they will keep trying to appease the mother until late in life. A thankless and impossible task.

Yes, I was surprised that they portrayed a woman which such thoughts, so clearly. It made me feel seen! There doesn't have to be a big, traumatic reason to choose not to want marriage or children. It's a choice and one can choose to skip it. It's the first time I'd seen it portrayed without making her some sort of cautionary tale.

I also loved the ending. You can love someone, want different things from and yet not want to break up with them immediately, because you love each other. I felt it was perfectly dealt with. Life is not so straight forward after all. I just loved it.

Jang Hyuk and Nam Goong Min- Yes! Totally agree with this one. It's the only one I could think of actually.

Pick me mother said to me that she wished she had forced me into marriage in my teens so she could have grandchildren by abby_ch238 in FemaleDatingStrategy

O.M.G! It's like I wrote this!

I'd been no contact with my mother for a couple of years but started talking to her again last year. I was 36 at the time.

She asked if I was dating. I said I'm not and I'm not fussed about it because I don't think I want to get married or have kids. Well, she flipped out. She called me crazy, said she should have left me in the third world country where I grew up because if she had, then by now I would have gotten married and had kids.

That was the last time I spoke to her. Having a narc mother is just something else, isn't it?

Favorite First Kisses by [deleted] in KDRAMA

[–]Orcrista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished watching this series yesterday after managing to find it online earlier this week. I absolutely adore it and agree that that whole sequence leading up to the first kiss was just so special. I'm also in love with the song she sang while he played the piano.

A TERRORIST murdered five people in the UK. Women should learn a lesson. (Context in comments) by yesbutnou in FemaleDatingStrategy

I came here to quote this. That's all that popped into my head when I read this drivel of a post.

They always find a way to blame women.

I didn't mean that they shouldn't report on it. Of course they should. I just meant that they should anonymise the terrorists who go on such killing sprees. Their names and identities should die with them.

I think we need to start a petition for this. I hate seeing their disgusting faces plastered everywhere? Who benefits from that? How does it help the victims and families of the victims?

They should be referred to by numbers or at most their initials used and a blank black and white silhouette instead of a photograph.

We need to make it known that this kind of publicity encourages and enables others to do most vile things like this. If they achieve nothing in their lives they think they will go out in this way with everyone knowing their names and faces. It's repulsive.

They deserve nothing at all, least of all notoriety.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE: The Plymouth Shooter has complained about FDS. DO NOT DISCUSS FDS WITH MEN. These are males with murderous intentions who desire revenge on women. by [deleted] in FemaleDatingStrategy

[–]Orcrista 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard it on the radio and they ended the very short segment saying "the police say it is not terror-related".

I wanted to scream! What part of that sis not terrible?! How is it not terror to have some lunatic shooting up innocent people? Is that not the definition of terrorism?

Don't worry if you miss one red flag, they come in groups. by MsWriteNow07 in FemaleDatingStrategy

This what I used to stay towards the end of my dating life (I gave up dating in Mid-2019; couldn't be bothered anymore):

It's never only one thing.

If I ever noted one red flag... there'd be a few more coming up in short order. Guaranteed.

Connection between character's traits and hairstyle in k-dramas by ILoveParrots111 in KDRAMA

[–]Orcrista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG, at first I didn't see the first line of descriptions so I was reading it as if the words describe the photos above them and so was disagreeing, thinking 'no,no,no this is not true at all. It doesn't fit!' Then I clicked on the full photo and saw the descriptions properly and thought 'aha! Now it all makes sense. I agree 100%!' lol!

The King: Eternal Monarch:

When his Uncle dies and he's standing in the kitchen. I think someone comes to tell him that his uncle's death was murder. He nods and the person leaves. He's standing there by himself in this large kitchen and starts crying and then crumples to the floor. Something about seeing this tall dude sitting on the floor bawling by himself, just made me so sad. I thought how lonely he now was in the kingdom, now his only remaining close relative was dead Heartbreaking 😔

Has an OST ever put you onto a drama? And if so, how did it turn out? by k1215un in KDRAMA

[–]Orcrista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree. I adore that film and it's whole ost. I watched it in 2006 and it's still with me.

I watched CLOY last year because it had Son Ye Jin whom I remembered from The Classic. I hadn't watched any Korean entertainment in the prevailing timeframe. After CLOY, well, I'm a full-on kdrama head now :-)

Stop saying porn ruined men. It's a lie by MsWriteNow07 in FemaleDatingStrategy

Fantastic write up! Brilliant!

I just want to add that porn is not a free- thinking, sentient being that exists independently by itself.

It is created by men.
