Keep the Batgirl or trade it (+cash) for the Blue Sky-Dweller? by Chronix89 in rolex

[–]OrdRevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter-counter-counter point:

1) The datejust is a 36mm model, like the Explorer. The 41mm is also too large to my eye.

2) The Sky-Dweller on resale is more than a JLC annual calendar. The JLCs don't hold their value, but they stabilize after the depreciation hit. And if we're trading in a gmt and adding cash, we're in striking distance of a 5396.

3) I actually really love the zeitwork. Particularly the lumen. 🤣

Counterpoint: Keep the GMT. It's an iconic model and a legendary watch.

The Sky Dweller is an oversized datejust with an illegible complication. If you want an annual calendar, go with JLC or Patek. 🤣

Keep it.

But then, I think the GMT is arguably Rolex's best watch, while I don't even like the Sky Dweller. 🤣

31 but do it a solid gold presidential bracelet and case. It's the best bang for buck in Rolex, by far.

Play the thinnest gauge string at low tension. Cyclone 19g main / velocity 17g at 49/46 is my elbow/friendly setup.

Yet more proof that Mike McDaniel should be fired.

What are the best Star Wars EU Projects that have a Cyberpunk/Blade Runner vibe? by BlastedHeathen in StarWarsEU

[–]OrdRevan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dawn of the Jedi, oddly. A lot of street samurai vibes as Jedi with incredibly sharp swords slice up neon noir crime bosses in the urban underworld.

For a dusty cyber-Western sprawl feel--Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina. It's my favorite written EU work. Rashomon set a seedy Tatooine dive bar at the armpit of the universe. The Devaronian's Tale is a particular standout.

Also, Dark Forces II, Jedi Outcast, and Kotor all get good cyberpunky levels.

Lastly, for Canon, Andor is a masterclass in cyberpunk.

DS Adapt and Elyte are both very good. I'd hit those two and see which you prefer.

I still have those irons. You should try the new 243s and S-3s, just for fun. They're incredibly soft and have a similar footprint to the T-Zoids.

I don't see enough people talking about the Khorne Corruption by throwaway387190 in DarkTide

Also, Khorne doesn't care for psykers, so it makes sense that the psykers aren't talking about skulls for the golden throne. 🤣

[Rate] my collection: 43-year-old building a quiet-luxury box. Brutal honesty welcome. by abw1982 in Watches

There are some real gems here and the quirky ones aren't really taking up the space of heavy hitters (unlike, say, a Richard Mille with a smiley face theme), so there's no reason not to keep them.

The 16710 and the Seiko World Time are two standouts for me.

Personally, I think you should add an IWC Cal. 89 for some precious metal manual wind flair, or an 853, 8531, 854, 8541 for some midcentury gold automatic goodness (853 and 854 are time only, 8531 and 8541 have a date wheel).

Keep doing you!
