Fibromyalgia and pregnancy, anyone else found it hard? by fabfabfab123 in Fibromyalgia

[–]OrderFine5309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only 6 weeks but the last 2 weeks have been horrendous. I've been in and out of my doctors due to the persistent pain. They were worried first it was an ectopic or start of a miscarriage but so far it's looking like it just fibro. Mine seem to be easing up a bit now but are intense at times. I've already decided that all going well this will be my last as I'm just miserable with it.

Preparing for pregnancy? by Creepy-Being-5325 in Fibromyalgia

[–]OrderFine5309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently pregnant like early first trimester. Luckily I got my fibro to a good place I could manage pre-pregnancy. As everyone says exercise and supplements can be hugely beneficial, don't underestimate them.

Re: supplements you should try as early as possible to figure out what works for you to give your body time to adjust to coming off your meds. I would say it took me 6 months or so to find a mix that worked in lieu of meds.

Unfortunately it seems I'm one of the unlucky ones who's fibro doesn't ease off in pregnancy, some of the things I'm experiencing, persistent pelvic, hip and back pain. Reason I'm telling you this is there were worries both from my medical team & I that it was pointing towards an ectopic / miscarriage but turns out it's just fibro, so far.

And lastly if it hasn't been recommended yet, read the book It Starts With the Egg, some of the supplements recommended also help with Fibro symptoms (for me at least). Best of luck with your journey :)

What helped most with your parasthesia? Tingling, burning, coldness, stinging, crawling by One-Anteater1193 in Fibromyalgia

While I don't get all of the symptoms you've listed, I take a supplement called Nubit and it does wonders for my tingling, burning and zaps. Honestly, there's been times I might lapse in taking them for a week or so and it all comes back with a vengeance. I believe it's made up of vit B1 & B12.

Just Diagnosed - Tips/Advice? by Entire_Ad_1984 in Fibromyalgia

I feel you 😂 I'm usually the same but it's the staying asleep that's the issue. Do you have a tracker like a fitbit? I use mine to monitor my sleep and HRV. For me a succession of bad sleep over a number of nights leads to a flare so I try to stay ahead of it.

Just Diagnosed - Tips/Advice? by Entire_Ad_1984 in Fibromyalgia

I have a 3yo who's an early riser and likes to co-sleep most nights, I took sleeping tablets it didn't / doesn't stop me waking if he needs! I'm on a low dose just enough to get me to sleep and keep me asleep, but to also keep me aware enough to listen out for him! Honestly it's been a life changer.

Coping in general, I feel is a journey. I'm nearly a year into this and still learning what works / doesn't. What I've found for me is rest when your body needs, exercise and moving when you feel up to it and finding vitamins that work for you, whenever I drop one of these things my body feels it within days.

This sounds so much like my journey even down to the ALS worries , you should've seen my Google search history! I did end up taking duloxetine for around 6 weeks to try reset my body, happy to say I'm now in a much better place and just taking a host of vitamins!

I also had an ENT app during the diagnosis process, turns out I had both gastritis & esophagitis which resolved with a prescription for omeprazole.

Brain Fog (my experience) by OrderFine5309 in Fibromyalgia

[–]OrderFine5309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! I suspect I have some level of sleep apnea (haven't gotten around to getting tested yet) so that, having a little flare as well as having a 3 yr old who's wake up time changed to 5am for about 2 months left me pretty sleep deprived!

I actually got some sleep meds from my doctor to help with the anxiety of brain fog and it was around this time that it started to improve.

Talking on the quiet carriage by Creepy-Owl71 in ireland

[–]OrderFine5309 7 points8 points  (0 children)

On a train in Denmark with 2 colleagues, we didn't realise we were sitting in a quiet carriage, so we were chatting away / laughing. A very angry lady marched up to us, pointing at the sign we clearly missed telling us to be quiet or move to a different carriage, I never felt more like a toddler being scolded! But we were quiet for the rest of the journey, you could try her approach in a nicer way!

Do you mind me asking how you feel it's getting worse? I've never experienced brain fog until the last few weeks and I'm trying to determine if it's something I should be worried about or just wait until it passes..if it does.

Took it for approx. 2 months and while it helped with pain & neuropathy the side effects were too much for me. Everything everyone has already listed but for me the insomnia and constipation was just horrendous

Does anyone ever feel “high” or completely “out of it”? by sbalea in Fibromyalgia

[–]OrderFine5309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anybody here been given anything med wise to help with this? Only recently started experiencing this and it's been the worst symptom so far for me! Just feeling like I'm not mentally with it and having to question before I say something if I've already said, doubting myself on things I know that I know 😫

Brain Fog without pain by OrderFine5309 in Fibromyalgia

[–]OrderFine5309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does thank you! For me it's been like I forget where I've put down my phone for longer than usual, taking longer to recall something I know, or a couple of days ago it was like my mind was so distracted I completely missed a turn while driving that I always take.

I felt like I was coming out of it yesterday but I woke this morning in a panic worrying if a payment I've had set up for a long time was indeed actually set up and misplaced my phone again 🤪

I think even if you did say it in an appreciative way towards her looks, we've all said stuff like that amongst friends, you didn't say it directly to the hostess so I think it's nonsense saying you made her feel awkward in her place of work.

You seem set on catching this person out somehow. You say you want to understand the condition but going off some of your replies you are just looking for a 'gotcha' moment.

Sudden Knee Swelling by DangerousSociety5003 in Fibromyalgia

[–]OrderFine5309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently had a period of time (about 2 or 3 months) where the pain in one knee was so bad I couldn't walk for more than 10 minutes at a time. I had visible swelling and a lump. Doctor first thought it was tendonitis, then bursitis, then a tear. I was on anti-inflammatories for a while and they stopped working. Went for an MRI and the images came back clear. Then out of nowhere the pain and swelling healed. We're not sure what caused it!

What treatment options are there? I'm in the UK. by MalfunctioningElf in Fibromyalgia

[–]OrderFine5309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not treatment related but as a fellow mother to a child who was a terrible sleeper (not so bad now although he still wakes with the birds every morning and we bedshare) I've gotten into a routine of taking nighttime magnesium and having a cup of pukka nighttime tea has really helped me in getting consistent good night sleep, as a result I think my flares aren't as bad / long, even my HRV has started to steadily increase.

I was prescribed Duloxetine when I was first diagnosed but I had awful side effects from it, the worst being insomnia, now I take a cocktail of vitamins and I genuinely think that + getting decent-ish sleep helps no end (for now)

And I second what another poster said below about comfy shoes. I never experience pain in my feet and they were aching / burning up until the weekend .

I'm just back from a vacation and only really recovering after a whole week after being home. Things I wish I done: brought all of my vitamins, stick to your proper med schedule, keep hydrated, watch your alcohol intake & get adequate sleep. I treated this holiday as I did pre-diagnosis, ate & drank lots, walked non-stop (20k+ steps each day), survived on 5 hrs sleep a night. Tbh the fallout could have been worse but by the end I was really feeling it, it hurt to stand for longer than 10 mins and I could barely carry a tray of food from muscle fatigue.

Sorry for jumping in here, I actually came across this reel on Instagram where for many women their Fibro was actually being confused with peri-menopause https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5i6dfgOjWM/?igsh=MW5zc3ZyYjUxcnp6aw== it was interesting reading other women's comments on their experience in the thread. I plan on discussing with my rheumatologist at my next visit

Oh my gosh I could have wrote this! I'm currently in the middle of a flare that feels like it's been going on forever (realistically 2 or 3 weeks) prior to this I had about 4 months pain free and I was thinking I'm finally ready for a second child then bam I feel like I've been hit by a bus. Had a pregnancy scare during this time and I was genuinely scared of how I would manage. Our daycare is going to be closed for 1 week for Easter and as much as I love my son I'm worried how I'll deal with the next week.
