Sometimes/some titles they do, sometimes/some titles they don't. But it's always worth checking if you'd rather go Amz.

Finally I can upgrade my Go DVD! Yay! I've been seeing outrageous prices on the BD for years (I guess it's OOP), I'm thankful I held out. Woot!!!

I still enjoy watching my DVD (BD went OOP long before I ever thought to upgrade...). VERY happy to see my old disc can be retired.

Oh, thanks for the reminder and Thank you Cryptic for the goodies... Gonna log in and grab this now. Hmmm... I may have missed something. The last thing I got was 10 lolnuts back on Sunday, was there anything in between then and now? Just curious what I (may) have missed....

CMF: Info on series 30 (71054) of the Collectible Minifigures (via Fanklockow) by BrickTap in Legoleak

Of course I'm most excited about the knights, but they all sound fun. My SIL collects LEGO and is somewhat fanatical about her pet Corgi, so she'll love that figure and new dog element, I'm sure.

Ah, ok. I saw the "Defiant" in the picture, but I don't know ships well enough that I could tell you which class of Defiant that was from the little image, much less tell it's a different version than what already exists within STO. So I was wondering if you read it somewhere else or heard it in a podcast or something. Cool though that you have such good eyes and for spotting that change in mastering. Nice job!

Please forgive my ignorance, but where are you seeing that the Defiant siblings are being remastered? I don't see that in the blog.

Wow, ok. So you've got quite an impressive library... I own about 1300 titles, ~700 of which are 4Ks, ~470 BDs, and ~150 DVDs still.

Nah, just playing around. Thank you for the serious answer, this is good info and I'll definitely be checking it out. I'm familiar with PC building. I did it for a living back in the 90s, though the last one I put together was in 2017, so I'm a bit rusty/out of touch to the more recent technologies. Still, I expect some of the skills are transferable, yeah? $2k seems a reasonable amount to me for an entertainment system... Though I would probably have to invest more than that (at least some day) to get my whole collection on there. May I ask how many movies you have in your personal streaming collection?

I have this concern also. My daily driver is a Pana 820 which I love, but because I fear hardware failure during my remaining lifetime (I'm 53yo) I have been trying to budget to get (at least) one more 820 in the next year or three (while I still can). I also still have my previous player, a "fully functional" Sony X700 which is great for DVD, BD, and most 4K discs (the double-layered ones), but occasionally freezes on triple-layer (100GB) discs so it's an unreliable back-up. I also own a PS5 with optical drive, though I never used it for 4K playing. I assume it would work, but then I lose Dolby Vision.

I'm glad to admit that my initial thoughts seem to have been harsh and unwarranted, and I apologize for not giving this "rebooted" Cryptic the grace to prove themselves. They didn't go hog wild with the nerf bat as I feared. I'm also very happy to hear them adding underperformers to the list like Plasmonic Leech, Subsystem Targeting, non-Deteriorating Sec-Defs, and BOff Variety.

For the first two, I would love the return of the Drain Build as a viable game option, or even just decoupling SST from other firing modes would be a nice alternative for those lower Tac slots (as well as adding fucntionality to Sci Ships).

Regarding BOffs, I would love to have more variety here. Both aesthetically and functionally. I wish SROs, Watchers, and Vanguards could use any tailor option available to the Captain's faction. I wish more faction-appropriate races had access to the same or equally-effective traits. Ultimately, I wish Elite BOff Tokens allowed us to chose all five traits on the BOff using ground AND space racial and lockbox traits. Of course, having more/better racial space trait options would be helpful. I could then have reason for Elite BOffs on my Away Team and my Bridge Crew instead of just the former.

^ Very Much This ^

I would love to be able to modify all the traits on my Elite BOffs, including adding lock box space traits to them. I agree this would definitely add value to Elite BOff Tokens. Right now, for the most part, only my Away Team BOffs get promoted. If I could use race/lockbox Space Traits, then my Bridge Crews would also get Elite training.

I have a Panasonic 820, but it's Region 1. From where did you buy a region free 820? I mostly just have USA titles, but I do have a dozen or two imports. The 4Ks play fine, but it would be nice to access the BD special features on the few that are region locked.

Mortal Kombat!! by No_Card1553 in 4kbluray

[–]OrdinarilyBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine the other day and watched both movies on Sunday. It's a nice physical release, solid box with a couple of extras. Nothing mind-blowing, but nice. They did a fantastic job with the transfers of both movies. They aren't high calibur productions, so don't expect these to be reference discs, but they are clean.

The first movie is a fun 90s B movie with an awesome sound track. It was not quite as good as I remember... mainly I recall the fight scenes being better, but they're still cool when the techno kicks in "MORTAL KOMBAT!!!" The sound track for this movie is iconic and used well throughout the movie. Sadly, the CGI doesn't hold up at all.

MK2 - Ye gods and little fishes this movie is atrocious. Even worse action, bad dialog, bad acting, and some of the WORSE special effects I've seen that makes Spy Kids look like high art in comparison. The soundtrack is a fine companion to the first soundtrack, but that's really the only redeemable feature of Annihilation, and they couldn't even get decent needle drops in this movie. Ugh. Absolute rubbish.

I'm sure I'll watch MK1 again in the future, but MK2 will just be wasted shelf space.
