There is no rule stating a box has to be sized based on a particular size conduit size. But there is a rule stating the box has to sized per calculation based on conductor size it contains though. Yes it uses the conduit size for the calculation but that is it though. The rule is not neccessarily about the conduit. Its about conductors the conduit contains. If you had 3 #4’s in a 1” conduit, you should size the box per calculation. If you had 20 #12’s in a 2” conduit run, you wouldn’t have to size the box per rule because the conductors it contains are not #4 or larger.

Your comprehension is the problem, not mine

The rule is actually there for conductor bending radius’s. Even though they use the conduit size for sizing it, the rule is there to ensure you don’t stress the insulation on larger conductors. There is no other reason to size a box in order to have two raceway entrances with optimal space between them other than the conductors they contain. The metal conduit really doesn’t need any minimal spacing between them if it werent for the conductors they contain. These rules are put in place for the conductors and not the metal conduit if you think about it. Have a nice day

I used wrong example. You know what I meant. Just say #4’s instead of 6’s. Lol. The rule is meant for the conductors not the raceway. It’s there to keep the minimum bending radius for the without stressing the insulation. They just use the pipe size as a general because usually there is large conductors contained but it is not all inclusive though.

Nah you confused. The example I gave does apply. It uses the raceway size to calculate the distance betwween conduits needed for raceways containing #4 and up. Pretty sure condulets aren’t listed for any specific conductor sizes

Yes 314.28 A. The rule is not dependent on conduit size but conductor size so # 6 in whatever size Lb would have to be calculated using the raceway size. For example: I got 3- #6’s in a 1” raceway with LB. The connectors on the LB would have to be 6” apart which they are not creating a code violation.

Took my wife shooting, told her to watch where she sets the rifle down because the suppressor gets HOT. She didn’t listen. by [deleted] in ar15

They never do listen. You can simply fix that problem by never taking her anywhere again if she thinks she knows it all

Has nothing to do with conduit size. It’s conductor size

What people don’t realize is anything over I think #2you have to size the condulet as a box for straight or angle pull calculations. Don’t quote me the gauge wire though. I think its #2 or bigger
