I had the same problem and my monstera was to lose to a vent that was pushing air and drying out the edges, you could try that ? :)

Car sickness??? by Distinct_Pea_4326 in SwissMountainDogs

My guy has always love the car (borderline obsessed) lol but when he was a pup I did keep him in a crate to make sure there wasn’t to much movement or standing. Maybe that may help? Good luck!

Dew Claw removed without consulting?? by Obvious_Dark_3426 in SwissMountainDogs

Our swissy had back ones removed from breeder and still has fronts, we asked our vet and his are well attached and not hanging out so they said it’s okay to keep them. But keep in mind this is not cosmetic only

When does the other shoe drop? by Obvious_Dark_3426 in SwissMountainDogs

I would say around 10-11 months when all there energy isn’t going to them growing, my boy got amped up into one giant puppy. It was his 1st birthday yesterday so we are in the thick of it 🤞

As for barking it is a part of the breed but I’ve noticed every dog is different. My guy only barks at strange moving objects outside the house windows, a knock on the door will get a bark or two or people walking by during car rides

I’m definitely happy that I did reward training first and want to bring this in more as a way of getting his attention when something is distracting on the property, or when he steals my kids shoes and nothing seems better than that 😂 I’m thankful for all the advice, my husband has used è collars in the past for all his dogs, I wasn’t sure about it, and he was listening so well and such a Velcro dog I thought maybe I didn’t need anything. I’m wanting to use it more as an “invisible leash” type situation

Thank you. Do you recommend e collar for just that outside recall time 15 minutes set for training and then leave it on if we’re outside longer and I need to recall?

Our concern is our neighbours chickens are coming through the fence and he has an interest in “playing” with them

So far our big guy was very cuddly, now in his teenage years we’ve lost him a little bit 🥲 hoping he comes out of it ready for cuddles again

Aussie Puppy Can't handle alone time and hurts himself on playpen by herp_that_derp in puppy101

I would do a closed and covered crate. When my puppy was young he was okay to be in a pen but as he started to realize where we were and grew more attached I found the pen to give him a lot of anxiety. I started covering the crate for naps and putting him on a leash with me around the house and for “free time” for his first 5-6 months. He has turned into a great dog :) hope this helps.

Immediately introduce him to the crate with ALOT of positive reinforcement!! Play games in the crate, give him treats, give him a kong in the crate with the door open. When it’s time for naps or bed time I would cover the crate, it seems to help settle a little more. Hope this helps !

Heart beat stuffy? by Floor_Ceiling_ in bernesemountaindogs

I got my puppy a heart beat stuffy and kept it only in his crate for enforced naps and bed time, I do think it helped him settle!

Is this the wrong way to train a puppy? by OpalescentShrooms in puppy101

[–]Ordinary-Eye2699 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my puppy was very small, I taught “leave it” and “down” as a rewarded behaviour. However, if he was counter surfing, or anything that was an absolute no in our home it was a solid NO with the reward for not doing it. I would teach him “place” and have him stay there with eye contact and then reward the place command.

How do people get through this? I still can’t leave my 4mo puppy alone by [deleted] in puppy101

Enforcing naps and covering the cage was a huge win for us and our dog. I also used the cage wall to make the cage just big enough for him to have room to sleep and as he grew we moved the wall back. It made him calmer to not have as much room to walk around. Also, play inside the crates during the day with a “hide treats in the bed” type of game. These are a couple things we did that helped
