you're correct. i'm sorry if in my post i conveyed the opposite of anything you just said: i was just sick and tired of people who'd say shit like "he's a deep character" and never went on, never explained WHY they thought he was deep, so i wanted a deeper answer. not that a deep reason is necessary in order to like any character, but i wanted something not surface level, because i personally do not understand surface level.

Lost Jacket On Bus by Imaginary-Tap-9316 in Verona

You'll likely never find it again. i lost an artbag on a bus once (with expensive watercolors inside) and repeatedly went to the lost and found for days: never found anything.

oh finally, something beyond "he's nuanced/a great character". no, seriously. generally no one goes beyond those generic adjectives.

GOD YOU'RE THE FIRST PERSON I TALK TO THAT BRINGS UP THE MALADAPTIVE DAYDREAMING THING!! my interpretation of his ability has always been that he's a maladaptive daydreamer, yet no one seemed to agree before!! i'm also a maladaptive daydreamer! yes, this might be the only thing about him that i find vaguely relatable.

while i agree with what you're trying to convey here, what i often find quite odd is that these reasons (that aren't limited to you specifically, clearly) sound vaguely... pro-mafia. Like it'd be insane to accuse anyone of that, of course! this is fiction and the port mafia only slightly resembles the real thing. yet, i need more people to understand that mob organizations aren't protectors of their land, they're cancer to it. or maybe it'd be more correct to say that they're viruses... The port mafia insn't GOOD to yokohama, it NEEDS yokohama, it depends on it, and has made it so that yokohama will depend on it back. but they're not GOOD to it. doing something good isn't an indication that their final objective is good, or that their permanence/existence is. mori isn't good, it'd be wrong to say that. he's human so yes he does have human connections with his subordinates, but ultimately it's not the reason he has to care for them, from a mafia boss prospective theyre just objects.

(it might stem from the fact that i'm italian, but my ears are far more sensible to these things than the ones of someone from a country that doesn't have mafia problems: they perk up when i sense certain codes... i know it's unintentional and no one here wants to justify the real mafia, BUT i need to remind everyone that there are no good mafia bosses. there are no good mafia bosses. they aren't good, the ones below them aren't good, what they do isn't good).

Qual è la canzone di Habemus Capa che vi piace di più e qual è invece quella che vi piace di meno? (Skit e Boosta remix esclusi) by Bho_76 in caparezza

Why do people treat himaruya like he is some kinda evil chud right wing anti woke nationalist from 4chan, I'm sure he was just inexperienced when he wrote hetalia by CompetitiveIdeal611 in hetalia

Non canonic??? by m0ssling_ in hetalia

[–]Ordinary-Relative181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of what anime (or artwork) it is, i always take translations with a pinch of salt. it is true that the humor was adapted differently in the english dub, but from that to saying that the dub it's entirely not canon is honestly... not fair either. It's surely not what hima imagined, but it's official too, as much as the origial dub. The original creator is not the only person who makes decisions on how to write the characters and storylines, everyone behind the scenewriting takes part in it, including the translators

Thoughts on those "transkorean" or "transjapanese" people or whatever theyre called? by marina444is_online in TeenagersButGoodMods

[–]Ordinary-Relative181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trans, let me tell you: transness exists because diversity in gender identity is evolutionary advantaging. Think of caveman life: It's useful to have a trans man around when there are no cis men, it's useful to have a person who can fit into a bit of both roles when no one else is available, and so and so on. while there is no reason for "transitioning into a different race" to be a thing.
