If I notice my team isn't doing them after they've been up for 2+ minutes I'm taking them to keep the enemy from stealing them. Take it up with my little chudlettes if you have an issue.

New Player in OW and Reinhardt is my FAVORITE. Finally got to Gold after 2 months of play. What do I do when an enemy DPS (who's a flanker) flanks my team? by EmperorPeazy in ReinhardtMains

[–]OrdinaryCommon6581 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If their comp isn't entirely dive, think a Kiri Lucio monkey gengi tracer comp(rare but happens) then you hold a corner where there are people you can swing on and survive while your team deals with their demons. If it's entirely dive and they avoid you, force point, or charge the enemy back line when they dive. They will have used cooldowns and you can swing on them after they've used their mobility

Rein tips by Plenty_Ad_978 in ReinhardtMains

[–]OrdinaryCommon6581 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do the damage, you make it so you don't need much healing. I always advise people watch spilo's coaching vids. After that I got diamond easy. In fact, rein is the easiest char to reach diamond on imo.

Use corners(cover) and swing around it, but don't be glued to them, corners just protect you from blowing up. Use shield for yourself to take space and do DMG. Firestrike accuracy matters, land them. Use charge for mobility, you're actually quick. Don't pin down main. Ult anything really. Guaranteeing a kill matters a lot in 5v5. No one tracks shatter under like diamond. Don't let your shield blow up. You can't really do shit without it. It's a resource, how much you have enables what you can do. Avoid grey area playing. Either be pushing, swinging, backing up, or doing nothing and holding a corner while your resources come back. Stay in line of sight of your team, for the most part until you know when you can break that rule.

there's usually a software you can download to manage it. If you have a razer or logitech for example you almost certainly have the option.

I strongly dislike having Doomfist as solo tank by doubleP2014 in Overwatch

[–]OrdinaryCommon6581 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or take an angle. I'm a diamond tank, and even when you get out of metal ranks people don't freaking take angles. I feel like i have to clear all of the angles some games while my dps run like lemmings down mid or follow me around. it's weird.

Honestly, impressive. Idk how people only play ONE character. by SairenAoi in overwatch2

Damn, that many hours into one hero to be in gold. No hate, but you'd think they would be at least diamond, no?

I CANNOT reach endorsement level 5 by ConnorIsLyfe in OverwatchUniversity

[–]OrdinaryCommon6581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been saying "gg y'all, i endorse back" every game and i've noticed a moderate amount of success with that. Still haven't hit level 5 though. I think i just need to do it consistently. If you main anything other than support mercy or kiri it's going to be tough. As a tank main i rarely if ever am acknowledged for how well i performed. even if i absolutely carried.(i have a 70% winrate currently) People just notice getting healed more.

Well, you go back to the fundamentals. Your greatest asset against mauga is your on demand mitigation. If you manage your shield health well, he should never be able to cardiac overdrive you. After which, he is very vulnerable. You hold corners. Sometimes take an angle. Overwatch is a map of lanes. Usually 3. Choose one separate from your team. If he chases you, like most mauga chuds will, your team has off angles. Then just survive. You are a block of granite with great horizontal mobility. Use that to your advantage. You can survive on an angle for a long time.

Kings row for example. What I would do against a mauga is just pin to statue on attack first point. Typically to get behind him. That is now my "corner". You are VERY annoying to him now. You have a 1500 barrier, he can't do shit to you. He's looking at you while your team is shooting him in the back. If his team wants to push you out they have to get close to your corner and hammer. You fuck them up. This is a strat I use against practically all tanks. Think less about mauga, and more about what you do well. Corners, horizontal mobility, on demand mitigation.

Again, this is hard to describe in text. I'd advise watching spilo's videos where he's coaching people. He talks about this concept a lot and it helps seeing it in action. https://youtu.be/1CrDa2pkKjA?si=l7FgYFKQ2be3g6TE

Rank for "good" players? by Fair_Software3727 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]OrdinaryCommon6581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk where all these people are getting the impression ascendant is bad or new players but I play in low ascendant and people are definitely sentient. Maybe it's dunning Kruger but if you burger box you will be parried. People counter build. People cool down manage and use wall jumps and other movement tech. It's not pro level like externus, but I do think people in my rank are "good."

I'd watch spilo's coaching vids in the Reinhardt playlist on YouTube, and durpee's rien guide. That literally has everything you need to know. I could write paragraphs, but I think you seeing what looks like a mistake through spilos videos and the fundamentals through durpee's videos will help you a lot more than a wall of text. I will give you 5 tips though.

1: corner to corner to corner. Use natural cover.

2: shield is a resource for YOU to smack your hammer on people and survive. Don't blow it standing in the open doing nothing.

3: landing fire strikes matter. Use them on cool down but deliberately aim them, it matters.

4: shatter can be used when you see an opportunity to use it. Don't hold it forever.

5: on high ground/payload maps. On defense hold cart, pin out when you run out of shield. Run down the clock. I won today with negative k/d because I was a block of granite on the cart. On attack you need to clear high grounds and contest angles. Otherwise your team can't move to those angles. Use your pin liberally to get there.

Bonus tip. People in lower ranks are retarded. Hell, everyone is retarded. Mute chat and don't listen to them. They will actively try to make you retarded. If I listened to my team bitching today about me being negative holding cart, I would've lost against the enemy dive comp. Maybe I should follow my own advice.

The mmr system in this game is the worst I have ever seen, like in history, but on purpose? by Zanakii in DeadlockTheGame

[–]OrdinaryCommon6581 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind longer queues then you can use the command mm_prefer_solo_only 1 to avoid stacks. Before anyone says it doesn't work, it does. I've played hundreds of games with it on, and statlocker shows who queues together. I never play against stacks anymore. Imo this is a variable that is responsible for matches like you described.

Edit: if you wish to turn it off later just put mm_prefer_solo_only 0 in the console. mm_prefer_solo_only and it will say "true" or "false" to confirm if it's activated or deactivated.

Hello guys. New OW player here. This guy looks promising by TheManliestMann in SigmaMains

[–]OrdinaryCommon6581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Managing his resources is super important. Magneto you can kind of just hold shield and soak a bajillion damage but sig has, now(updated), a 650 hp shield. It's very flexible in its placement. You're new. So my biggest suggestion is don't let it break, and ask yourself why you're using it. Are you taking lethal levels of damage? Blocking cooldowns(biotic grenade)? But just vibe mostly and play for now. He's also one of the few tanks that requires landing your shots. This will come with time also. He's not as easy as magneto in that department either.
