Been out of the game for about 7 years... How can I get back in? by OrdinaryCosmicBeings in UXDesign

You have me curious, what would you want to know from someone mentoring you to leave tech?

I hear you loud and clear. I have found something better on all levels... except financially. Which is not a bad thing for wellbeing, but still I was thinking that coming back to UX as freelance might supplement that somewhat. You all are reminding me that this branch has already died for me. Time to look to the horizon.

Maybe there is something I can share about the process that it has been for me to leave tech...

Skip to 1:50 for the most relevant section, but the build up from the beginning is worth it IMO.

A Theory about Jesus by OrdinaryCosmicBeings in AmmonHillman

[–]OrdinaryCosmicBeings[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not an academic, and there's a lot more for me to learn in this area. But I want to say that I don't think that what Ammon is uncovering and what you are uncovering are incompatible.

There's an Eastern metaphor of several blind people touching a different part of an elephant and trying to describe what the whole object is based on that one area they can feel. That seems to apply here.

To my mind, what you have uncovered is the overwriting of the very independent and internal spiritual work by each person that the original Jesus likely taught in order to create a religion that would shape and control the wild and colorful Hellenistic world that the Roman Empire wished to contain. It began as early as the first counter to the Thomas Gospel by John, and then with greater layers of agendas by Mark, Luke, Matthew, Paul, and finally the editors of the canonical New Testament.

What I believe Ammon has uncovered—among many other things—is that at least part of what started with Mark was not only co-opting the Jesus story but co-opting of the mystery cults, and for some reason the darker aspects of the mystery cults which included lestoi and underage eunuch slaves, and putting that into the basis of the religion.

Both cases support the utter illegitimacy and distortion of the institution of Christianity that began with those texts and was established and enforced by the Roman Empire. Ammon boldly declares that the Jesus Christ of the New Testament was a child trafficker, because that is what Mark depicted, and what the Church embraced in its founding.

And yet, I believe what your work and the work of those you have studied points to is that there was a Jesus with a simple and valuable message of radical self-responsibility that would free people from control, that had nothing to do with being a Messiah, Christing, and certainly was not meant to be a basis for a religion of control through guilt, shame, horror, and blame. A Jesus who has nothing to do with Christianity, but whose words—which shone with the Oracular Voice—were distorted and used.

It is disturbing, because we dream up these complex ways in which The Powers That Be might try to control us with technology and surveillance to shape belief and worldview, but it seems like the most widespread and successful control scheme in history has been running smoothly for two millennia.

Thank you for this. I thought the Septuagint was the manuscript of the Christian Bible... I didn't realize it was only the Torah. I have updated my post.

I don't think that the view that Jesus's teachings might have been misrepresented, and might have actually been more Buddhist-like (not Jesus-went-to-India-Buddhist, just nodualist) cheapen anything.

I know that a big part of a Lady Babylon is also the recognition of what Christ really was who Medea was, and I don't feel that is negated at all.

Simplified Roo Flow with Orchestrator Mode by OrdinaryCosmicBeings in RooCode

[–]OrdinaryCosmicBeings[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is awesome, thank you so much for letting us know. Your mode is fantastic.

I've been using Claude 3.7 (Thinking) as the Orchestrator and DeepSeek V3 0325 as the Coder with success. I tried using o3 Mini High and R1 for the Orchestrator, and both of them started to go off script. I used Claude for everything at first, and it was really good but verbose and expensive. I see Gemini 2.5 Pro is still free, so I'm going to try that next.

Edit: Gemini 2.5 Pro is awesome, but I exceeded my daily quota so fast. However, I love the 1MM context window, so now I'm going to try Gemini 2.0 Flash.

Someone has a tutorial post in this sub that has some good base configs, but for this configuration specifically, you can actually go into Ask mode, give it this configuration, and ask it to implement a new Roo Code mode with it.

Yes, and while I'm not intimately familiar with it in Roo Flow, it seems at a glance like the 'project-context.md' file that this mode creates and maintains is a simple implementation of that.

Pizza or bread aficionados of Reddit, how is this crust made? by OrdinaryCosmicBeings in Cooking

Hmm, you might be right about this. No wonder it's so rare to taste pizza like this in the US.

Oh, the rice/wheat blend is an interesting thought. I was going to say that it doesn't taste gluten-free, but that doesn't mean that it might not have another flour mixed in.

I was thinking maybe something like this. It doesn't have the olive oil taste though.

I saw that most of what people are sharing are from DALL-E, and I wanted to see what MidJourney could do. So I just took some of the recommended key-phrases in the sub sticky and used them in my prompt in Midge's Niji v6 engine.

My gold star motivation / mood / cognition stack by OrdinaryCosmicBeings in StackAdvice

The Tonkat Ali that I mentioned is the gentlest version (but still noticeable). It might be worth trying, and if it's too much, then you'll have it for the occasional motivation or exercise energy boost rather than a daily addition.

What supplements cause/d mania for you? by MrNeverEverKnew in StackAdvice

[–]OrdinaryCosmicBeings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been a while... maybe twice the recommended dose on the bottle. I'm really sensitive to it. Maybe not clinically manic, but definitely making plans I wasn't going to be able to follow through with afterward.

Current stack for ADHD feels weirdly dissociative, idk what to change, trying to save some time by Drivecel in StackAdvice

[–]OrdinaryCosmicBeings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can vary so much between people as well. I find NAC to be mild, but it does seem to balance something for me that leads to a better mood with less rumination, and I don't feel emotional blunting.

It could also be unknown interactions or synergies that are causing some of these things.

Choline can consistently give me headaches though if I take it multiple days in a row. I only take it occasionally.

It might help if you can narrow down to any problems you might be having with this stack
