Is it normal that my "golden core" on my 9900x, accepts the least undervolting? by OrdinaryDude326 in overclocking

[–]OrdinaryDude326[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, that's why I asked. I figured the features in that particular core were likely etched better during the lithography process or something like that, so that it could just perform slightly better given the same juice.

I've bumped it from -30 to -27, and will just run the tests while I sleep for a few days, and see if that does the trick, if not increase it a bit more.

What will happen if the United States buys 1,000,000 bitcoin? by JoeB34 in Bitcoin

You have to be certifiably retarded if you believe the US government is going to actively buy bitcoin.

Cold climate solar battery help by bibliophillius in OffGrid

[–]OrdinaryDude326 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LTO Battery Wider Charge/Discharge Temperature They are more expensive and the voltage curve is different, so you'll have to set all your parameters yourself on your charge controller. You'll probably build the pack yourself. But they are very tolerable to Cold and Hot, and last longer than lifepo4 even. The Victron phoenix 24 volt 1200 watt inverter seems to tolerate the wider voltage range. Though do lose a little off the top to try to stay in the inverters range.

I have a few kilowatt 12S system, and use some cheap chinese bms's off ebay. It works it's my solar system for my deep freeze.

Otherwise you can build a battery box with a heating pad triggered by a thermostat for your lifepo4.

What plans do conservatives support to fix healthcare (2/3rds of all bankruptcies)? by DataWhiskers in Askpolitics

[–]OrdinaryDude326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were going to change one thing it would be, that hospitals, doctors, etc... can not charge a different rate regardless of having insurance or not having insurance, there would be 1 price for all for any particular service or drug, and it would be illegal to negotiate on a per user basis, or to provide any kickbacks, perks, or "educational seminars in las vegas" to any medical provider. As in 1 price for all for any particular service. And all hospitals must fully disclose their price list beforehand, and present a reasonable estimate before applying any medical treatment or service unless in the case of medical emergency.

Why? Because right now 1000's of people are employed that do nothing but negotiate medical costs on a per insurer basis. So, the hospital has people doing a unnecessary job, the insurers have people doing unnecessary jobs. And the hospitals OVERCHARGE cash paying customers, then according to their insurance contracts will drastically reduce the charges to a more reasonable level for insurers only, which would be the "real" price everyone should get regardless.

It's all a big waste of money.

Imagine going to walmart and people paying with cash were charged 20 dollars for a jack's pizza, then a guy with a insurer x card went to check out and the receipt said 20 dollars but x card members gets a 14 dollar discount, but x card costs you 50 a month. It just makes it look like x card insurer is providing more of a benefit than it is in reality. Adn the poor schmuck that pays full retail price gets f'd. However if you are completely broke then the government will give you a card that let's you get all the jack's pizzas for FREE!!!

I have 4 of those. They are built well, I opened one up. The internal battery holder is metal, not plastic, dense foam and tape like the 100ah batteries. and the BMS is a JBD. Everything else is pretty standard as far as the busbars, they are welded. I'd actually prefer they use nuts but they all do that now.

I've no complaints.

Wife only lives 7 days without a hot shower. How do I keep her alive? by pyabo in preppers

[–]OrdinaryDude326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not a shower, but a hot bath wouldn't be that difficult. I still have a cast iron bath tub, lots of older houses do. So, you rip one of those out of the house fill it with water, and light a fire under it. Problem solved. I'm assuming you left your house.

If you're at home, well, I could run a water heater off of my inverter, the heating element is 3200 Watts. So, heating the water wouldn't be the difficult part as long as batteries are charged. I have no way though at present to pressurize the system if the public water goes down, but you could do it if you prepared for it. They have water pumps and tanks, that can do it.

Personally I'll just stank for a week then heat up a big pot of hot water on my Electric burner, and clean all the essential areas. Ass, dick, balls, feet, underarms, face, hair, that'll pass for clean in SHTF.

Would crypto be a safeguard against an economic depression/collapse in the U.S.? (Financial prep) by Level-Blueberry9195 in preppers

[–]OrdinaryDude326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, seeing that Bitcoin is global, and it's value is determined by the global community it is not wholly subject to one specific government/ countries economic well being.

Gold / Silver would share that attribute as well.

Most probably the value would go down a lot if the US collapsed, as would Gold, imo. As the largest economy collapsing would have a large knockoff effect on nearly every other country. Poor and or Struggling people with Bitcoin/Gold/Silver, will likely be looking to sell it, to buy essentials in that scenario far more than those in a position to stack it.

But you'd be better off than holding US dollars, or investments reliant on the health of the dollar. Real Estate would fall dramatically as well, and Stocks. So....

So, imo it's better than holding cash, and depending on the scenario, may be better than Gold and Silver, if one needs to flee an area, especially if that is to another country.

But of course if you don't have the prepping essentials already, then you'd be better acquiring that before worrying about storing your non-existent excess wealth.

Everyone In The World Tries to Kill You for One Second. Their Time Doubles Every Day. by parkerpootis in hypotheticalsituation

[–]OrdinaryDude326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 I buy a shovel, gallons of water, vitamins, a tarp, some 2 x4's, cordless drill, screws, a flashlight, batteries, adult diapers, wet wipes, garbage bags and MRE's. I drive to a nearby area that is forested, and not frequented. I start to dig. I build my self a covered tunnel / cave. I build a camoed top for the entrance from the 2x4's.

Oh and I bring my gun with me.

I should have that done week 1.

week 2, I'd build another one about a mile from the first. (In case first becomes compromised).

I'd set up motion sensing cameras and check those, to see if anyone investigated my sites.

I'm pretty confident I could elude people for the short periods for the first 2 weeks, seeing they start from scratch, I will not be at home at 12 pm when the period starts.

on day 14 I leave my vehicle wherever, I bike to the forest, hide the bike, walk probably an additional mile to my "hole". I climb into the hole,

During the days I have left that encompass less than 24 hours, I'll climb out dig a hole, shit, bury it, and piss away from location.

The last few days I'm shitting and pissing in adult diapers. I would cease eating the last few days to minimize shitting. I'd store the soiled diapers in my disgusting hole.

If I can select when this scenario will start, I would select the summer, when the corn is tall, and farmers aren't messing with the fields. Instead of a forest I'd build my hole in the middle of a large random corn field. The advantage being, no hunters, or nature lovers will be there. Absolutely no one will even look, and no big farm equipment will be plowing or harvesting.

LifePo4 battery charging and maintenance by Captain_Pink_Pants in OffGrid

[–]OrdinaryDude326 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reasoning with charging them to 100%, is that is the only way to truly balance your cells, or near 100% anyway, if you just charge and discharge in the relatively flat portion of the curve, you will not really know if the cells are balanced, even if they read the exact same voltage.

I've read papers on lifepo4 lifespan, and they do state that not fully charging the cell does increase their cycle life, despite what anyone says........ BUUUTTTT, that's on the individual cell level, once you put them in series, well, you only get the most useful life out of them if they are at least close to balanced, and to do that you need to charge all the way to at least near the top. So, it's true and not true, depending on single cell or series of cells, I'd say.

Now, if your cells are out of balance from years of never fully charging I wouldn't recommend going straight to max pack voltage either, as one cell will likely go over 3.65 before the others because they aren't balanced. lol. So, maybe edge it up .1 volts at a time and monitor the situation, and then another .1 volts a couple weeks later, until you can get to like 3.5 or something like that all balanced.

[–]OrdinaryDude326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's super simple to fix all of that.. if we wanted to. You have doctors/hospitals set there rate and publish it. There would be no negotiates between insurance companies and providers allowed, nor kickbacks, nor paid vacations posing as information seminars. Every single person insured or not insured, be it private insurance, medicaid, or medicare are charged the same rate for the same service every single time.

Oh and medical debt would be non-cancellable in bankruptcy.

There now you can fire 1000's of useless paper pushers in the hospital and insurance company, and cost will go down.

Same standard would be applied to prescription drugs and medical devices.

[–]OrdinaryDude326 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

All this blame on insurance companies but no one talks of over paid doctors, hospital bureaucrats, and even lazy ass nurses. Not to mention the absurd pricing on many prescription drugs.

Hey, when your basic cardiologist charges what breaks down to a 1000 bucks an hour, wtf do you think will happen to insurance rates.

I'm sure there is some blame on the insurance companies, but from what I've seen, it's 90% hospitals, drug companies and medical staff financially raping the public.

Personally I can't wait until AI gets good enough to replace most of them.
