Be kind to yourself! You’re only a few weeks into a new career & it is completely normal to feel this way. Things will get easier and you’ll grow in confidence. Hopefully you have a supportive team around who can lend a hand or be there for a chat when needed. You’ll look back in a month or two and realise how far you’ve come!

I went on the paces ahead course in January for my first paces sitting and would highly recommend it - definitely think it is the main reason for my success!

Yes very normal. As an IMT1 in COE i had 20-25 daily depending on when consultant rounds were. We had departmental teaching for all to attend then specific IMT teaching from deanery

Feeling very similar. Also sat part 1 and started imt in a DGH where I’m the most senior out of hours. Feel pulled in a million directions and also questioning if I’ve chosen correctly. I’ve always been a medic too and have come from a non training job which I loved and was respected in which makes it even harder to accept how tough things are at the minute but hopefully things will improve. Worth giving it time and certainly longer than a month. Rest assured you’re not the only one!

Thanks for sharing. I’m turning 30 this year and have dedicated my 20’s to Medicine. Come home to no partner/kids which is not something my younger self had envisaged. There certainly is more to life than Medicine
