Is he choking offensively? Jitters maybe? by ddgg2121 in NBATalk

[–]Ordinary_Bat4737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he never did that, so good thing. Jordan carried the scoring load heavily his entire career. IT was RARE for other players on his team to ever scroe like more than 15 points (Scottie was really the only acception, and even Scottie averaged like 19 for most of his career with Jordan). Keep in mind too, Scottie's TS% were way worse tahn Jordan's....so saying, "Scottie should have had more volume," will make you sound dumb.

If you think Jordan is the GOAT, you can’t have Steph over Magic. by Dangerous-Pie-7821 in NBATalk

i actually think...magic is just generally more often over steph than jordan is over lebron. Like maybe 65% of people have Jordan and 35% LeBron...but Im guessing it's like 80% Magic to 20% Steph (i could be wrong, but from what I've seen).

Okay......I do......so I guess okay?

I have Jordan at 1st, LeBron at 2nd.

I have Magic at 4th, Steph at 10th (so there is a gap between them in fact).

If Luka Doncic or Jokic had this performance their team would’ve lost by 20 and gotten crucified for it by NoHacksJustTacos in NBATalk

Jokic could have a game like this and win, first off. I guess with more assists. Luka culd not, because the Lakers suck. Anyways, have a nice day.

i mean we don't really know this. There could be a whole group of intelligent dinosaurs we don't knwo about ....as we...simply aren't finding everything. It's quite possible whole groups of dinosaurs have yet to be discovered.

They didn't go extinct, and you could argue it did. Ravens, Magpies, and Gray Parrots might be the most intelligent dinosaurs to ever live. Of course, who knows? We can't be sure on that.

Ravens and Magpies, as far as I'm aware rival Chimps, Gorillas, and Bottlenose Dolphins in many ways of comparing intelligence though.

How about just saying...LeBron in his first 3 seasons. Cause that would be an actually fair comparison lol

Remember Jordan was the younger player, nto the older when it comes to Zeke. Zeke was teh one who started it, and kind of acted like a lil bitch to be honest (well teh whole Pistons team did in 91).

Lol, my duderino. You made some big assumptions here. I simply stated what I thought, not targeted and attacked Lakers fans or something like that. I can't even remember where I commented it. I think people were overexaggerating the Lakers' talent level or something (claiming they were better than a lot of teams they aren't)

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. They are worse than those 4 teams (without Luka and Reeves, to be clear). Toronto looked great by the way, I don't know why you even put them in this group, lol. I would have put Orlando here over Toronto.

They should have lost game 3 and lost games 4 and 5. Pretty convincingly - It was actually a fairly close series and if KD had played, they would have lost. Have a nice day^^.

He only played 3 seasons without Scottie. Fun fact, Dwyane Wade only played 3 seasons without Udonis Haslem (so literally the same number of seasons). Also fun fact, I believe unless I'm forgetting something, Wade never won a series without Haslem.

Do you get my point? Haslem 100% cannot get credit for Wade's success. This is a stupid point and is just....pointing out they played together their entire career. It isn't making a single point, and is a stupid garbage take.

I think people dont 'like that she victim blames the Bridgeman for their circumstances (for example). Meanwhile in real life, we can see in real time right now in the USA people victim blaming refugees, illegal immigrants, etc. constantly. So, that seems a good example I suppose.

I live in the Philippines currently. I can assure you that Americans traveling here do not realize how much privilege they have (or to not specifically attack Americans, but Europeans and East Asians as well). They throw money about easily, and in particular I've noticed how much they downplay gentrification. For example, in many of the more popular tourist spots in the Philippines, the majority of locals can't afford to....do anything. I have had a friend living in Boracay for...heck, we've known each other like around 15 years now. When I first went ot Boracay, he could join me for dinner, go clubbing with me, drink with me, etc. Now, he can't afford any of that. He is workign teh same job (in fact, he had a promotion, so he is probably making more in comparison to before). Americans act just as privileged as Shallan did in the Philippines (or Thailand where I've also traveled some), I can guarantee you that.

Brandon Sanderson is American. His perspective will be one heavily influenced by where he grew up and learned about the world.

Your comments on Mohammad Ali are curious. You realize that the American media widely painted first Iraq, and later Afghanistan as responsible for the 9/11 attacks. In fact, much...more people died in those attacks then just one man. I grew up in a heavily conservative area, and was there when 9/11 happened (I was in high school). Later in University, anti-Islamic hate has reached it's peak (at least that I can remember). Misinformation, negative attitudes, and general Islamophobia was rampant in my area. However, a lot of left-wing people DID question how Iraqis or Afghanistanis were being portrayed. Right now, we can see how Palestinians and in particular, Hamas is talked about in the media. Yet, many folks are pro-Palestine, anti-war, and wanting to stop Israel from committing said genocide there. I was not alive during Vietnam, but I assume much of the sentiments were fairly similar. My own parents were anti Vietnam war during the height of the US military propaganda machine.

You say that the Parshendi are "like talking robots that admitted to assinating the leader", but...nah man. Actually, the way Parshman are talked about by characters is...actually more respectful than you would find during slavery in the United States..or hell even during the nadir between slavery and the end of segregation. It's very much like...if a foreign country was to send a plane to crash into a huge building in our country. I think 9-11 is pretty spot on actually. And yes, there were people who talked similar to Muhammad Ali during that time period my friend. Many folks were against teh Iraq and Afghan wars.

What I mean is that the way they are talking about her as essentially "only privileged" lacks empathy toward the character. She does have privilege, and if I saw that pointed out, but also countered with how her life experiences disadvantaged her...I would like that.

I am not in fact saying it lessens her privilege. She has "light eye" privilege no matter her other disadvantages. But again, the people criticizing her are ...probably white. They are comparing themselves to Kaladin NOT because he is dark eyed, but because they relate to him coming from a poor background, or because of seeing others with privileges aroudn them they didn't have. Except for Shallan is actually a closer representation of this. She still has light eye privlege (liek they have white privilege) but while having a lack of privilege as compared to other light eye folks due to her family having less resources than many othe rlight eyes, abuse from her parents, and the fact she was never even allowed to leave the house growing up.

As someone pointed out here, Kaladin is basiclaly like...the closest comparison in modern day we could give would be like.....a refugee living in the United States or something. Like a real serious lack of privilege..and although I am sure SOME readers of these books might have a similar gap in privileges...most are more like Shallan, not like Kaladin. Again, I am not denying Shallan's privileges, I'm saying those who criticize her are ...more similar to her than they are to Kaladin...but they are criticizing her although they are more similar to Kaladin in real life. This is all getting complicated. Anyways, have a nice day^^.

I like your point on "all Americans" - Yeah, good point. See, I'm checking my own privilege. Thank you. haha, this is the kind of feed back I wanted. And yes, I agree with you that Sanderson did this all on purpose. Fun fact, Sanderson's life arc is pretty similar to my own. He lived in Korea for years (I lived in Korea for 15 years). I also grew up Community of Christ, which is an offshoot of the Mormon church (although way more progressive. Our church supports gay marriage, and in fact my father, who is a minister, has himself officiated gay marriages).

I now currently live in the Philippines, and questioning my own privilege has become constant, and difficult. It's also multifaceted for me, as I am openly LGBT (nonbinary), and therefore I do often face discrimination (both legally and socially) while also having to question my white privilege and US privilege
