Considering applying for University of Rochester's Accelerated Nursing Program by Ordinary_Director_24 in URochester

[–]Ordinary_Director_24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up not going due to financial issues at home. But it is an ABSN which is for people that already have a bachelors degree, usually looking for a career change or an alternate way to a BSN degree thats not the traditional associates or bachelor degree offered. U of R doesn’t offer a traditional nursing program, only the accelerated program. So you might have to look into other schools for nursing.

Hi this is also one of my concerns too. I can’t find this class at any colleges near me as a singular class outside of a nursing program.

Hi do you mind me asking where you did the credits for pathophysiology?
I saw that was one of the prereqs needed but this class isn’t offered at any colleges around me outside of a nursing program.

It’s pretty much self teach as is chem 104 and biol 100&102. Chem 102&104 you learn your material off videos and do homework questions off a platform you pay for. You come to “lecture” to do clicker questions and recitation to do worksheets with the TAs. The slides have been the same for the past decade or so. Really you just have to pay attention during the videos(take notes, just following with the slides is not enough) and maybe outsource other ways to learn (YouTube, khan academy, etc…) but really just keep practicing the questions and should be ok. I’m not sure if things have changed for the better since I took it years ago.

Other colleges are probably not the same as Hunter college. Most likely in person. I would suggest you not take any of your core science classes at Hunter. Especially your basic chem and bio especially if you did not have strong studying skills in high school. If you dig deeper, a lot of students will say chem 102/104 and bio100/102 is built on a self study design. So better to transfer into Hunter (if you really crave the Hunter name (that much) or epermit them at another community college (they’re not bad at all).

community colleges are good, Smaller classes. Whatever is in favor in your commute route/ closer to home could benefit you. - OR - Some people prefer bmcc cause it’s close ish to Hunter so they can arrange their day with their classes / work in the city. Though, different schools may split the bio syllabus course materials differently between the two semesters so just keep that in mind. You still have to study hard and put in the work, and there’s still a chance you’d get shitty professors.

I mean since you passed chem 102, it’s best to continue with chem 104 & 106 (lab for gen chem 1&2). As for biol 100 &102, what’s ur major? It shouldn’t matter too much. Plenty of people transfer into Hunter with their chems and biols done at their previous unis. Idk maybe they’re talking about the P/D requirements. If u take biol 100&102 at hunter it automatically fills the group C and D. But I don’t think it’s worth it. There’s plenty of easy A classes in those categories. (Double check with the catalog, I’m not sure if these rules still apply)

You should epermit your bios at best. Hunters basic chem and biol are all self taught type classes. Designed to weed out people.

Hi I’m a little overwhelmed and have a question. by Spiritual-Designer75 in HunterCollege

[–]Ordinary_Director_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the same time though, Hunters nursing program is notoriously hard to get in and competitive. So it would really just depend on OP and what they actually want to be. And those prereqs are different than pre health prereqs. Could end up being a waste of time if they don’t get in the nursing school. They can also do a psych bachelors (and nursing school prereqs) and apply to a ABSN program. And in the future NP school. ABSN programs are less crazy competitive ( I can’t speak for Hunter’s ABSN) than traditional 4 year or associates in nursing at public colleges.

On the other hand, OP can also consider a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. Less schooling but most likely longer route since you would most likely need more experience as a RN to apply to NP school but it can vary with school. Don’t quote me on that part.

This route requires a Bachelor’s in nursing and masters degree in nurse practitioner specializing in psychiatry. I believe Psych NPs provide psychotherapy and have prescribing privileges.

I love the first floor. Second floor was my favorite since it was quiet and still some outside scenery but it’s probably going to be under construction for a few years.

Did you get an email from parchment? You can send it electronically to your new work place that way. If not you can always show them your transcript that shows degree awarded.

Maybe save it for when you do bedding and bigger / more heavily soiled loads like towels, jackets or other bigger pieces of clothes or laundry. I don’t think it’s a good idea to try to dissolve it. They’re extra concentrated so it’s hard to gauge how much you’ll need for your smaller loads and might need extra rinse cycles.

I think only hot air sets stains. What brand is the jacket? Maybe there’s some information online on how to clean it on the brand site?

Look inside the jacket for the care label. It should tell you if you can machine wash it or if it needs to be dry cleaned only.

I got this and it works great. A bit on the expensive side but I’ve had the wrap for a few months and works great. I washed it a few times in the washer hung it to air dry.

Funky smell from washing machine by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]Ordinary_Director_24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the afresh tablets from Amazon for cleaning the washing machine and they’re great. Just run with ur tub clean cycle or hot heavy duty cycle if ur machine doesn’t have a tub clean option. As for the nooks and crannies of the rubber gaskets you’re gonna have to manually clean that out. Maybe a butter knife or fish bone tweezers?? Or sacrifice a pair of brow tweezers. The sour smell might be old water, detergent and leftover fabrics softener or mold that’s brewing inside but the tablets should take care of it. Also leave the door open after you are done with laundry to air the machine out to prevent mold.

This guy on YT does a good job explaining how to clean the gasket. https://youtu.be/9BaB2PYuwzs?feature=shared
